My Apache Any 1h Going To Down And I Force Run Restart Httpd

Oct 22, 2007

i ask of cpanel.net that why : my apache any 1h going to down and i force run restart httpd

cpanel :
Howdy,

This is occurring because your server is consistently hitting the maximum
allowed concurrent connection limit, defined by MaxClients in httpd.conf:

[root@part7 ~]# grep MaxClient /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log | tail -5
[Mon Oct 22 13:07:46 2007] [error] server reached MaxClients setting, consider
raising the MaxClients setting
[Mon Oct 22 13:32:03 2007] [error] server reached MaxClients setting, consider
raising the MaxClients setting
[Mon Oct 22 14:03:29 2007] [error] server reached MaxClients setting, consider
raising the MaxClients setting
[Mon Oct 22 14:16:07 2007] [error] server reached MaxClients setting, consider
raising the MaxClients setting
[Mon Oct 22 16:48:36 2007] [error] server reached MaxClients setting, consider
raising the MaxClients setting
[root@part7 ~]#

You will need to adjust this setting to a value which better accommodates your
server to prevent any further downtime.

Apache Does Not Restart After Editing Httpd.conf

Jun 12, 2009

I am having a problem on my VPS. I am running the latest version of Apache on Windows Server 2K3, and after editing httpd.conf to allow virtual hosts (#Include /conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf) and trying to restart the service, an error appears saying the operation failed.

I have even tried restarting/starting the service via services.msc

If I am not using the default httpd.conf Apache will not restart at all... it is very strange. I have also tried doing a repair of the installation of Apache.

Apache Httpd Service Crashing

May 17, 2008

It's been happening on both my old and new server, was really hoping this would be fixed.

Basically, the httpd/apache service crashes or goes down making domain names and sites unable to load; although cPanel/WHM still accessible. This would go on for about 5 minutes OR until I restart httpd in root.

sites simply do not load or just timeout after a period of time.

This has become extremely annoying for both me and my clients because it makes it seem like we have downtime.

Mod_perl Stops Working When I Use RewriteEngine On

Jul 26, 2007

I have an account on my cPanel server with a cgi script in it wich works just fine under normal circumstances. I setup mod_perl and got it working just fine with the script. I edited the .htaccess file to do a 301 redirect and added the line “RewriteEngine on” and then whenever I try to access the cgi script I get:

Quote:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access………..

If I disable mod_perl or remove the line “RewriteEngine on” from .htaccess it works fine.

In the cPanel error log I have:

Quote:

Options FollowSymLinks or SymLinksIfOwnerMatch is off which implies that RewriteRule directive is forbidden

But in htaccess I already have the line "Options +FollowSymLinks" which is part of the 301 redirect code.

MySQL Database Service Stops From Running

Jan 4, 2008

I have a phpBB forum, which uses MySQl database.

For the last two months the forum has been going down every couple of days because the database service has been continuously stoped running on the server with no reason.

What can cause such a frequent database failures?

Can someone attack the forum/database/server in a way that will cause the above problem?

(there is a good reason I consider this possibility very seriously)

How can I prevent futher database failures?

Weird MySQL: User/pass Stops Working After A While

Mar 29, 2009

I am having a very strange problem with 2 different cPanel accounts on a server with 500-600 accounts. For some reason after a day or two the mysql username/password stops working. We have tried changing the MySQL user and the password with no success. The log does not indicate that the MySQL password was changed in any way. Only these 2 accounts are affected and this problem occurred at least half dozen times each.

Again: these are two different accounts with 2 different MySQL users that after a while stop working (I am unable to determine if they stop working at the same time b/c they belong to different customers). When we reset the user (with the same pass) it works for a day or two. I have checked to connect not only from PHP but also from shell when it's down: it also doesn't work so this is a pure MySQL problem.

Also on the server we have Fantastico.

Plesk 11.x / Linux :: SMTP Service (qmail) Stops Responding On Port 25

May 19, 2015

Since 15.05.2015 smtp experiencing problems.

Smtp service (qmail) stops responding on port 25:
# time telnet localhost 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
quit
quit
Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1).
Escape character is '^]'.
quit
quit
Connection closed by foreign host.

real 4m10.629s
user 0m0.000s
sys 0m0.002s

After server restart or sometimes apache stop or ixnetd restart its responding for a some random time, and then again it stops to respond. Plesk panel show it as stopped but qmail itself running in memory, and does other its work, it just stops responding at port 25, or responds with a huge delay.

I've tried change it to postfix, reconfigured with mchk, repaired with repair.sh -r, disabled and uninstalled parallels antivirus, antispam, dnsbl, disabled firewall, disabled smtp lock. Checked apache, dns. Enabled submission port which works when 25 port doesnt, but i need working 25 port.

Nothing solves problem, its just stops responding after some random time. There is no errors on maillog.

I think this problem occured after recent plesk microupdate, because i didn't do anything to server configuration in last months.

This article says it might be dnsbl [URL] .... but it disabled(from plesk panel) on my server, maybe there is way to focefully kill any relation to dnsbl?

Plesk info:
OS Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5.9 (Tikanga)
Panel version 11.5.30 Update #50, last updated at May 18, 2015 05:21 PM
The system is up-to-date; last checked at May 17, 2015 10:56 PM

update: xinetd restart is definitely brings smtp alive, but it goes off after random period of time (5min ~ couple hours)

Restart Httpd On Fail

Aug 4, 2007

I'm using this script (I think I got it off of WHT) to restart httpd whenever a file failed to download on my server.

Code:
#!/bin/bash

FILE=[url]

rm -f test.file
wget -q $FILE -O test.file

if [ ! -f test.file ]
then
/etc/init.d/httpd restart
echo 'ALERT - HTTPD restarted on:' `date` | mail -s "Alert: HTTPD Restarted" user@domain.tld
fi

exit $?
I have it on crontab

Code:
*/5 * * * * /bin/nfup > /dev/null 2>&1
but it didn't seem to restart httpd, I got no e-mail and our site was down for several hours.

Is there anything wrong with the script?

Apache Stops Responding

Mar 24, 2009

I have a very strange problem. Yesterday morning I got a "server down" alert. Restarted httpd and everything run ok ... until today morning, the same problem again.

Symptoms:

1. The webserver did not stop working, it just took too much time to respond.

2. I cannot find anything suspicious in the logs.

3. I started to log the number of apache processes in 4 minutes interval, it did not increase during the failure but remained at a very reasonable number.

4. Now, almost 3 hrs from the last failure, there are 36 apache processes, each eating 14M RAM, server has 4GB ram total, no swapping, almost 3GB are free (cached).

The question is.
How should I prepare for the expected tommorow failure, to be able finaly localise the problem?
