A potential client asked us the followingo you allow PHP to open sockets on your server? If yes, is there any restriction on the amount of data that can be downloaded?
Will we be able to access and load our remote webpage using PHP? We will use sockets and a Pear library to accomplish this.
We are basically planning on using some content from our remote site on the new site which will be hosted on your servers. Kindly reply back at the earliest.
I have two whm cpanel servers on one provider and they both reporting same error when i click on phpmyadmin on whm: #2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)
I know that port 80 is reserved for HTTP communication to clients on the apache server, and that the client can receive the HTTP response to any port on the client machine, I think there might be more details to it than this. I am required to describe how client and server sockets are used for the client/server communication between an Apache Web server and Web client processes.
some of our customers have some problems using socket!
when they want to work with sockets , if the data that is requested in socket would be high ( for example 10Kb) it shows time out and the connection fails. but if the data amount is low (like 1KB) the task would be accomplished.
I did do a search of the forum and it showed a few results, mostly non UK and some which were no longer online.
Now I'll make my own topic doh.
What I am looking for is a host which allows UDP + TCP sockets(fsockopen) so I can query gameservers from my hosting + send other commands to other programs.
Must be located in the UK and be fast
Offering a reseller option is a plus, but not required.
I had never experienced a server other then a dedicated. I decided to use a VPS. I have migrated a few of my accounts on the VPS.
I am experiencing alot of problems. The server keeps running out of sockets. The provider as increase the sockets limits to the maximum.
At first they told me that platinum management had installed some script while hardening the server that was causing the services to stop responding because too many sockets were used.
I agreed to them rebuilding the VPs, them doing the hardening.
Now, same problem. Too many sockets. Every 6 hours I have to open a ticket and ask to do something so that my server becomes functionnal again.
Now they say that it must be a script I am using on the server. I ask them to track that script, and they say the cannot I must list all active script on server.
Now, Im already a bit upset because their definition of fully managed is not what I have come to expect with other provider. For them being fully managed is they will do anything I ask but wont do any proactive task. Even restart the server when it has failed. On top of that, their control panel is not half working and always gives 404 or jams my computer. So Im in the dark, because ssh is not accessible.
I am asking, how can I verify if the node im on is Oversold?

How to install PHP (v.5.3+) compatible with Plesk v.12.08 with support for sockets and pthreads, mysql and etc. for Centos 6.5 (I have some configuring options).
Should I build it or there are another options provided by Plesk panel?
I need only one PHP (not multiple releases) but fine working if possible.
I've run "DNS report" test for one hosting in dnsstuff.com and got this warning (as some times before for other hosts:
--------------------- Fail: Open DNS server
ERROR: One or more of your nameservers reports that it is an open DNS server. This usually means that anyone in the world can query it for domains it is not authoritative for (it is possible that the DNS server advertises that it does recursive lookups when it does not, but that shouldn't happen). This can cause an excessive load on your DNS server. Also, it is strongly discouraged to have a DNS server be both authoritative for your domain and be recursive (even if it is not open), due to the potential for cache poisoning (with no recursion, there is no cache, and it is impossible to poison it). Also, the bad guys could use your DNS server as part of an attack, by forging their IP address. -----------------------
Just being doing a load of DNSstuff.com queries to try and get everything to "pass", I noticed that some big players in the hosting scene have either open or closed DNS servers.
Softlayer.com have closed, while liquidweb.com are open...?
I have changed all mine to closed, just because dnsstuff advises it, but is there any reason you would want them open..?
I have a server that is running linux with WHM/cPanel , some of servers are rejecting mails through server and says that your server is open proxy mail server.
how to check that our server is open proxy or stop open proxy and how can i prevent our server from spammer?
I'm having problems with users using open proxies accessing, abusing, and defacing my website.
I'd like to get a list of all open proxies and incorporate it into my site (i.e. block open proxy accesses)
I've already looked at SORBS, but that is DNS based, and I'm not sure I want to go that route. (I am running one DNS server for my own webserver to use. Don't want to mess with adding another zone for the dnsbl).
I've be much happier building my own php/mysql lookup of the proxy blacklist.
So I'm looking for somewhere I can simply download a proxy blacklist, and update it periodically as needed.
Our new data center provided us with a Cisco ASA5510 firewall. We're setting up all new servers and will begin migrating all of our domains from our current co-lo to the new place.
At the old co-lo, they provided us a very basic BSD based router, and our servers all had external public facing IPs on them. Firewalling was handled at the server (Windows Firewall or Linux IPtables).
The new place is NAT'ing us, so our servers all have a 192.168.10.x address inside, and they map the external address for us through to the inside.
By default, they are locking everything down. I had to ask them to open ssh so I could remote into my CentOS box last night.
I'm not a network guru-- what ports are going to NEED to be opened so I can give them a list? This is a standard PLESK hosting server so http (80), https, ssh, ftp, pop3, smtp, what else? Anyone have a list?
subdomains on my dedicated server with co.il endings (israeli) dont work though with com domains they do work i anybody has a clue for fixing this? maybe its DNS directing problems.
Thought this might be of interest to folks on WHT. We put together a solution using Nginx ( Engine-X ) to do Global Server Load Balancing. This solution lets you do GSLB without having to fork over $26k per site to F5 or Foundry.
Thought it would be of interest to both end-users as well as dedicated hosting providers who might want to make it into a service (eg. sell a dedicated host in Europe and the US as a group, with the solution pre-installed).
The entire project, including relavent configs is available for download in the latest ( issue 6 ) FREE issue of o3 magazine (o3magazine.com)
I have used the patch : [URL] .... to disable ssl v3.
After I applied the patch getting error below when i try to send email via horde webmail:
There was an error sending your message: Could not open secure TLS connection to the server.
Roundcube can send mails well but horde not. Otherwise since applied the parch i can't get mails from gmail and maybe other providers i don't know yet.
Is there a way to exploit openssl? someone came to me asking me for a job on hostparlor.com and i said no. They then uploaded a remote view script to exploit perl and gain access. I patched that. Then he again said that he can exploit through openssl. I thaught open ssl was security itself? He then told me that he can gain access through php sites to root? Is that possible? We have phpsafemode set to off because we run whmcs and it requires it to be off. He said he can hack us through that aswell. Is this guy just bluffing or can this seriously be done? Like i said this is why i have 2 server admins...
i would be interested in knowing like what would you prefer for your dedicated server? i.e Behind a firewall or on public network. Can anyone experienced provide pros and cons on this one?
I bought two Dell R200 because they was extremely cheap.
My target is Open Source SAN with active/passive setup.
Now i was wondering what RAID-level I should go for.
I will use 1TB SATA-II disks.
1) RAID-1 in both servers and mirror each other with DRBD. With this setup i have like double RAID-1 so i lose lots of disk space. 4 disks -> 1TB
2) No-raid at all and i will mirror data with DRBD. 4 disks -> 2TB
Then there is change to go for RAID-5. Theres enough space to put third disk in that case
3) RAID-5 in both servers. Mirrors data with DRBD. 6 disks -> 2TB but more performance.
But in every setup i lose space more then i would like to.
Actually i dont need space more then 1TB, but i would like to get best possible redundancy and most space available i could.
Also need to remember that those servers does not support hot-plug HDs so in case there is disk-failure i need to be able to shutdown one server and iSCSI should still be up and running.
Of course theres change to make it active/active.
I was thinking that if I go for the RAID-5 I will make LVM-VG on both nodes (san-vg1 and san-vg2) and use it 50/50.
In case of fail both VG's will be used from working node.
Im going to use Debian Lenny I guess..
I was looking for OpenFiler because of the GUI, but im familiar with Debian and have always done everything from cmd.
i have a linux machine with centos5 64 bit. I have a firewall and would like to know how to open and close ports? I have tried several different things and cant seem to open a port?
Is there a command line i can use in ssh to open a port? Or is there something i can addon to cpanel to control ports?
i have to get rid of an open relay state on my server, and i cant do it! i have antirelayd on my WHM but it seems its not working, any idea? please or at least wich line in /scripts/antirelayd i have to check to see if its everything ok.
i saw an older post, tried everything but nothing works x_X
