Considering a web site could be completely useless without its web forms working as expected, and the uptime reports do not verify them at all, I would like to know if you people, consider it important.
View 1 RepliesI have one domain that is having issues sending e-mail from any php forms, etc. They do have their MX records pointing out to a different service...is there anything special I need to have them do in order for this to work?
Also, do I need to check or uncheck "Always accept mail locally even if the primary mx does not point to this server."

what i'm trying to do:
vistor enters personal information into a mail form, they select "Submit" and the information travels securely to the web site database.
what would be the best way to go about making that secure?
My Webhost suddenly does not allow php contact forms! Instead, they expect me to change all forms on 16 sites hosted by them to use a phpFormMail solution they provide. It's a real hassle.

What this does is amongst others is to add "SHOW USER_STATISTICS"
statement do MySQL. What this does is keep statistics on which users on your mysql machine is spending the most time processing queries.

I accidently found that it could be available to de-activate mod_security in a certain directory by using a .htaccess like that...

I believe it's something related to the "AllowOverride" directive from apache but im not exactly sure, the available arguments for this directive are "AuthConfig, FileInfo, Indexes, Limit, Options", I've tried hardly to find a way to not to disable the usage of .htaccess files and keep it's functionality but also to prevent it from being able to modify through it the functionality of mod_security.
I'm sure Anyone here could help me in this issue as it's a big pain for any server running apache in a shared vhosting environment.
Scenario:
Client has a nice website with a "contact us" online form. The form itself is secure (no injection attacks etc) and simply collects some data from the site-user, and emails that data to the site owners email address.
This email is sent using php "FROM" the siteusers email address (eg: random@gmail.com etc), so that when it arrives with the site owner, they can simply hit reply etc.
However - the site owners email is protected by "FrontBridge" (aka Microsoft), and suddenly they stop receiving such form-mail.
Response from FrontBridge is
"If the IP that is sending these emails does not have the domain names that it is sending on behalf of registered to it, it can not send to our domain as it will be picked up and flagged as spam. " They then indicate that too much of this so called "spam" will result in a blacklisting - which is what seems to have now happenned.
Pretty unfair I'd have thought, and probably how MOST web based form2email scripts are setup.
Recently my site was defaced, (i own a dedicated server), my server was not touched, but one of the applications I used on the site was exploited to gain access to it.
I have noticed 4 or 5 c99 shells in different locations on my ftp. The site is back online, but it's definitely possible that they have one of these hidden somewhere and that they'll just do it again. I am using cent os 5
How can I easily search for these on my box? Can I disable their functionality? is there setting I can use in htaccess or something to make my website safer? I visited one of the scripts, and it said SAFEMODE OFF, how can I at least enable safemode?
I don't know much of anything about linux, but I am running cpanel and WHM. I have a guy who manages my box but he is hard to get a hold of sometimes, and I'd like to take care of this ASAP!
if you use a site monitoring service (or two) do you need to setup monitors for each website/domain on your VPS or can you just monitor the primary services on the VPS?

I have a 20U rack space and i use 4U of this space (1U + 2U servers and a 1U switch).
There is a 20Mbit internet connection on a 100Mbit network.
But here comes my problem, some friends have there servers in my rack space to, There is 12 servers that are my friends and i want to know how much traffic they use.
I want to know how many GB traffic they use to i can charge them (they don't pay right now).
2 of my friends servers must max take 50gb traffic!

I just setup my own LAMP server.
It is only used for my own domains so I want to be able to watch all mail that gets sent from my server, via php or otherwise.

I am wondering what services it is best to monitor with Nagios which I've installed on my Centos 5.3 VPS. I wish to monitor and understand all essential services of the VPS itself at this stage but, generally, to make the best possible use of Nagios as an analytical tool as well as basic monitoring notifications, etc.
