VRTservers.net :: Mounting Hdd (they Turned Off My Server)

Problem with VRTservers.net . they turned off my server and tell me :
To turn on the server, we require:
1. the payment of reconnection fee $ 30
2. the server need to be reformatted.
If you do not want to lose your data, you may purchase secondary HDD so you can
transfer your data to the secondary hard drive.
FYI : mounting the old hdd is not our responsibility
If I do step 2 .Is it Possible ? (I need All data)
I think if I mounting a new Hdd , I lose All data -

I look after a Dell PE2800 server, it has a pair of 5.25 bays on the front, the top most of the two contains a Dell PowerVault 100T DAT72 tape backup drive. I have a second identical drive that i now wish to install into the bay beneath in a similar manner.
Problem is this - my colleague tell me that Dell are no longer selling the mounting brackets / rails needed to install the drive. I have had a fruitless look through the internet for a number of weeks now and hope that someone in the forum may be able to suggest a solution to the problem... anybody know a source for the brackets? Is there a parts site somewhere ive missed? Anyone happen to have what im after? Or any alternative suggestions?

Now SSH and Plesk doesn't seem to be working.
What can I do?
Would I have to ask my host to do a hard reboot?

I just order vrtservers.net without any cpanel to save costs.
Now, I just want to install one website that requires php, mysql, and ioncube.
How would I do that?
Also, an ftp server would be nice. Hmm... Maybe I should just chew that cpanel thing.
Also is dedicated server in vrtservers.net comes with full support?
I mean I pick them because they're cheap to be frank.
The server is windows by the way. IIS is not installed and when I tried to install it my self, they asked for a CD or something.
I think I'll be using ZEND. Is there a free webserver, mysql server, and ftp server that's bundled in some convenient way?
It's for a windows server.

I know this is a short time review, but I would really like to let you guys know about this company, and how things are progressing. Over the past couple days I have been looking for a new dedicated server and my price range was quite low. I came across vrtservers.net and tbh, the prices were too amazing. So, I decided to do some research on them. I searched them up on these forums, and found only complaints about thier services, but also some (very few) good posts about them. I decided to try them out (knowing that if I lost the money, for a month, I would be ok), and paied for the server yesterday. Within one day the server was setup and ready for use.
I logged into ssh, no problems. Checked all the resources, everything good, its exactly what I paied for. I have been running many tests on teh servers network, and all are great atm. The server pings are amazengly very stable and low.
Also, I talked to the support team before I bought this server. The reply time was within 2 hours at max and they were more than happy to answer my questions.
As time passes by, I will be posting updates on this server. But for now, I can really recommend vrtservers.net.

I have many servers on vrtservers.net and is happy of they support. And I planing be a reseller of them.
But the nightmare come from last day..
My main server have got some SPAM report from spamcap.net

the spamcap.net report my server runing a open proxy.and somebody using it as SPAM.
before the SPAM report..
I know this ISSUE and have fix it..
so the proxy just run many hours.[ check the mrtg graph.[url]
sinse the SPAM report.
vrtserver.net put this server offline..
I can Understand it.
And I have contact the support@vrtservers.net Instantly.
And I proceed the case of spamcap.net too.
But the nightmare is ....
When I ask "how to reconnect my servers/What time will the case close?" to VRTSERVERs.NET.
the vrtservers.net reply to me said the server has been terminated and there is no way to get my data back.
My god ..
all of my server's data has been lost!
vrtservers.net is killing me now!

Futurehosting did a migration this morning on my VPS and after the migration my site is reverted back to old backup in February. Both on my old VPS and new VPS Ips shows the same old backup files not the current one. I panicked and quickly told the support and they did the restoration to the recent backup file from my old VPS but I checked my site again and its still show the same old files. I have lost total of 3 months of hard work and there's no way for me for getting the files back. From their VPS plan "All VPSs include Future Protect which makes a backup every 6 hours." I did not get the recent backup instead of last February backup. This is outrageous and there's no sleep for me on tonight while I'm going to create all those missing files.

Why has Ipower turned into a such a poor hosting service? I have been with them for years and now they are leaving me little choice, but to find a new provider. For years they were able to provide me with a smooth service. Over the last year I have experienced tons of down time, long wait time for customer service, and recently downed email service for way toooo long.

Each migration in the last years I'm running into this bug that Postfix wants to run on port 587 even though this is turned OFF in the Plesk Panel.
Sometimes it does this after some update.
Because another process is running on port 587 this means that postfix does not start and I have some downtime until I "repair" this.
"Repairing" means going into Plesk panel and turning ON SMTP-Auth.... Wait a moment for it to apply and then turning it OFF again....
This unwanted behaviour can be easily reproduced by having this option turned off in the Plesk panel and then running /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/mchk --without-spam
This will end up in a non-running postfix if another process is already running on port 587.
This shouldn't be happening. Especially because I reported this behaviour years ago..

if I disable SSL on Plesk server some days/weeks later it is activated again.
To disable SSL I use the script from Parallels in this post: [URL]
After running this script to deactivate SSL I did some checks to verify if its deactivated and it definitely was deactivated.
I guess that SSL is activated again by the parallels updates or micro updates.

I read a few threads and it seems as simple as fdisking the drive and then mounting it, but im a little scared..
so if someone has a proper step by step guide to do this can they please help me..
at the moment i have a 40GB ( ide, i think ) hdd and a secondary 250GB IDE hdd, i also have servercp installed and i think im on fedora 6..
Now i dont want to just type fdisk dev/hdb incase that is my first 40gb hdd, i dont mind losing the extra data on it i just dont want to format the OS and stuff was im on an un-managed server and will cost me time / money for them to re-install it all..
is there a ssh command to list all the hdd's connected to the server and to tell me what size they are, and where they are on the server before i start formatting, fdisking and mounting them?

I am going to mount my new hard drive to /home/user/public_html but I have a question before I do so. If I upload stuff to /home/user/public_html will it go to my new hard drive that I just mounted there or will it still go in the old hard drive?
The reason why I want to mount it there is because my other hard drive ran out of space, and I would like to continue this user account's space without having to move this user.

the problem is that I have /dev/sda5 mounted to var. I want cPanel to use this HDD as the main storage for the /home directory. How do I make cPanel use this hdd for storage?

We had a problem on one of our servers and it was running RAID 1 with two 300GB SAS.
When I boot the server I have the following issue,
PXE:E61: Media test failure, check cable
I searched through all the net but couldnt find a solution that helped me.
Now I took one of the HDDs out and installed as slave on another Linux server. One of the HDDs says when I do /sbin/fdisk -l,
no partition table for /dev/sdb (something like that)
The other HDD have all the partition table,
/dev/sdb1
/dev/sdb2
/dev/sdb3
/dev/sdb4
/dev/sdb5
The big partition (probably when I have my data) is under /dev/sdb2, although when I try to mount that partition I get the following error,
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb2
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
Is any command specific for mounting RAID partitions or the HD is gone ?
I really need the data that are inside it.

I wanted to mount a Usb portable drive of some data I have inside my Linux server and make them read on my Windows xp.
The drive has been formatted as ext3 and it just won't show in "my computer" inside Windows unless I reformat it again as ntfs.
The same turns around if if I format as ntfs, and i can't mount it under linux with the message "mount: unknown file system type 'ntfs'"

Basically, I bought this case:

and didn't forsee any problems as we have lots of servers with this case at work (which is where I am co-locating the server) but I didn't realize that the racks we have those servers in are setup for a longer depth (like 26-30 inches) instead of 24 inches like the rest of the racks. Well the problem is that all employee stuff is limited to two different racks and both are 24" depth racks so the rails which came with the chassis (26 inch) will not work. Does anyone know of anywhere I could get a 24" rack mount kit which will work with the supermicro SC-825 2U case?

I have Plesk 11.5 (service provider mode) on a Windows 2008 server IIS7.Most of my sites are developed in .asp and therefore i use a custom 500-100.asp error page that check s the IP of the visitor then displays either a friendly error, or if its my IP a full error of what has happened (it also emails me the error). This allows me to debug pages easily whilst developing and to keep an eye on anyone trying SQL Injection hacks on my sites (as the error and email also have session variables and IP address).I dont have root access to the server as it is a Webfusion dedicated server.I have following the Plesk documentation -
1) Switch on custom errors for the subscription
2) Look in virtual directories and navigate to error documents
3) Find the error in question (500:100) and change it to point at either a file or URL
FILE - I had the data centre add in the 500-100.asp error page in to the virtual template so that my page is available in the list of virtual files - this didn't work but that maybe because its not a static page??
URL - when i add the path it says its incorrect, if i add a fully qualified address, it accepts it but it doesn't work.give me a specific example of the URL that can be entered relative to the root as the format in the documentation isn't accepted. The last step is to restart IIS which is also an issue as i cant seem to do this from the Plesk panel..It is as if it isn't catching the 500:100 error, and only catching the general 500 error??

I am currently running Google Analytics/Urchin 5 (v5.7.02), on a server, the server has started to act up, (on its last legs etc) and now I am trying to transfer the Urchin Software to a new server, where it would work effectively.
However upon installing the urchin software on the new server and running it (localhost:9999), I am presented with An Action Items Page, and these following choices

Buy License
Activate Pre-Purchased License

Does anyone have experience with this or a similar problem or have a solution to this problem. Any help be most appriciated.

This is the scenario, domain.com are setup on server1, however server2 also has the same profile of domain.com as we use ns3 and ns4 using domain.com. This works fine with the nameserver setup on server2.
However I encounter problems as the emails from server2 won't reach server1 as there are duplicate profile on server2.
My question is how do I setup the DNS in cpanel/whm from server2 so the emails from server2 will reach server1?

I just want to use a server for file sharing, it will have nginx and that's it. I'm looking at centos, or freebsd, but I been using centos forever now and I'm not sure how to use freebsd, should I just stay with centos?
Do I tell my hosting provider to just install the OS and give me ssh action and that's it? Don't install any control panels or any other stuff? I want one domain and one subdomain on it though and ftp action.
