Server Status, Server Load, Bandwidth
Apr 5, 2009
Any good and simple script to see Server status, server load, bandwidth, etc...?
is there like a simple script where it shows me the server info?
Like how much RAM is being used, bandwidth, load, etc?

Issue: Unable to access simple server status reports though server-status.(chrome could not find..)
Environment:
Home Lab; Win8(dont ask..)
apache 2.0(httpd-2.0.64-win32-x86-no_ssl)
*Fire down, router rules unrestrictive
set in httpd:
...
<Location /server-status>
SetHandler server-status
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
Allow from all
</Location>
...
Advanced mods, require compilation to standing installation of apache but the server status is said to be precompiled with the version.

My VPS host is (for now) still using LxAdmin, but is no longer allowing login to HyperVM for reboots and access to system info. Please, tell me exactly how to use SSH to check the current memory usage on my VPS.
Quote:
Viewing your current resource usage
Log in via SSH, I normally use the Putty client for this.
Commands:
top: your current server load & resource usage.
ps aux: all your processes & which ones are using the most memory/cpu
free -m: allocated memory, usage & free memory
Is the command line really *easy* once you get used to it?

to understand this page on cPanel. I can imagine that red dots are not a good thing while the green ones are, but I don't know what it all means or if I should be complaining about this to my host...

I'm not sure I understand the server-status page enough to know if this is a problem or not, but I have several processes that seem to run forever, or until I restart Apache. e.g.
Code:
13-1 21045 0/697/4264 W 59.45 19641 0 0.0 43.28 274.97 66.249.66.133 www.example.com GET /wp/2005/01/ HTTP/1.1
19-1 408 1/834/1831 C 83.52 32463 0 14.8 149.66 263.48 66.249.66.133 www.example.com GET /wp/ HTTP/1.1
30-1 14416 0/430/431 W 35.19 13347 0 0.0 37.42 37.44 66.249.66.133 www.example.com GET /wp/category/issues/ HTTP/1.1
They are almost always on a single domain (there's about 100 on the server) that's a Wordpress site. These processes are also almost always a search engine.
On the rare case I see them running on other domains on the same server they're always on Wordpress sites.
The longer the processes run, the more processor/memory they use, the more they slow the server down.
It seems to have just started in the past few weeks, I've had the site there for a couple years.

We are currently using Apache 2.2.10 as the reverse proxy for the SAP portal server 7.3.1. The SAP applications are built based on webdynpro abap technology.2 of the apps are getting intermittent spinning circles. The Apache server will ultimately timeout and give the "bad request" and HTTP 400. We were never able to reproduce the problem except we do see users are running into them. Obviously, the problems occur very randomly, but often enough to generate a lot of support tickets. No error was generated in the sap system log.
Here is what I see from the apache access log and error log:

We have been using Apache 2.2.x with reverse proxy modules for our clients to access their OWA servers for over a year. I want to get us to Apache 2.4.x so I setup a test box with latest 2.4 on it. I fixed the config file issues since 2.4 has changes in it. OWA proxy is working on my test server with Apache 2.4. But with 2.4 I do have an issue I cannot figure out. Note that this does NOT occur with Apache 2.2. I get the following errors when using ActiveSync through reverse proxy:
[Thu Oct 17 12:19:11.670665 2013] [proxy_http:error] [pid 748:tid 8440] (OS 10060)A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. : [client x.x.x.x:20311] AH01102: error reading status line from remote server mail.nameredacted.net:443
[Thu Oct 17 12:19:11.670665 2013] [proxy:error] [pid 748:tid 8440] [client x.x.x.x:20311] AH00898: Error reading from remote server returned by /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
So somehow with Apache 2.4 there is some sort of timeout that was not there with 2.2.

I am facing a strange issue with two RPG games sites that i am hosting on a 2GB ram server with softlayer, each of these sites was running on a 512MB VPS and they were doing fine but i decided to move them to better server so things run smoother when each has 50+ members online.
So the issue is when i have around 40 online members on each site, they start coughing up mysql errors, sometimes the sites just hang and stop loading, server load goes up to 3 or 4 but memory usage remains around 40%, I also notice that mysql uses the most of the CPU usage, around 75%
What i probably need is for someone to identify the cause of this, can it be an attack of some sort? or is it probably some code issues in the sites? do you recommend anyone that can have a look at this?

I'm having trouble with a new server. It's a dedicated (Q6600 + 8 gig RAM + 4 x 250gig in Raid 10 + Centos 5.3 64bit + Cpanel).
The machine is way overpowered for the traffic going to the site.
The server load is rarely above .10 and often closer to zero.
I'm getting periodic extreme slow downs. Web pages will take 30-60 seconds to load (or longer). SSH will timeout, or if I can connect, it will take seconds (sometimes 10-15 seconds) for key press to register in the SSH terminal. Pop3 times out, etc.
This might last for 15 minutes or 3-4 hours. Then, everything will start running like a champ again. Traceroutes to the server during the slow downs haven't shown a problem between the server and where I am testing from (have connected from multiple proxies and remote sites to eliminate my local internet connection).
I'm looking for any advice on how to trouble shoot this. Hardware? Software? Configuration issue?
It is definitely not a capacity/load issue. There have been no spikes in web traffic. The opposite, this is a very slow time for my site, which is why I moved to a new server in May.

I am thinking about making a little php file that will print a flash game with a link to my site below the actual game. Other webmasters can use this php file on their site to embed this game.
I'm on shared hosting with Bluehost at the moment. What will be the implications on bandwidth and CPU if these php files which serve the games become popular (get hit quite frequently per day/hour/second)?

I'm having the oddest issue. For some reason, some of the websites on my server load fine, and some take a really long time to load (2 minutes).
Now, the server load is fine, and the size of the sites aren't the issue either. I've restarted Apache and a couple more services, and still the same sites seem to load very slow.
What could be causing this since it's only effecting certain websites?

I have a dedicated for my site using Cpanel/WHM. My bandwidth limit is 1500GB and I usually have about 1000GB/month. But 3 weeks ago my hosting provider notified me that I am close to my bandwidth limit. I have checked both Cpanel and WHM and they showed half of that number. The company was telling me I had 1500GB and Cpanel/WHM that I have 800GB. They told me that the data center was counting the right number and gave me a link to check my real bandwidth.
My first thought that they might try to fool me. After their prompt I have checked through ssh that my site sends about 3-9MB. They told me that they can not find from where my extra traffic is coming from. My users are about the same and my statistics show the normal stats like every other month.
I was wondering from where all this traffic is coming from? Is it from hotlinking? Is it from some flash games I have? They ensured me that all these are included in my stats. Could it be my RSS?
My other thought is that might my server is hacked and used for bad causes. My hosting providers are searching it right now. The last 2 days I get a "High 5 minute load average alert" from my WHM. It usually was from 1 up to 4 but the last days it goes from 6 to 50!
That made me believe even stronger that someone is using my server..
I do not have the experience to deal with it,

They usually come with 2000 GB included and more.
