How Can I Retrieve My Mysql Server
Jan 29, 20081)i want to delete a folder in /var/lib/mysql,
when i use "ls" to check ,it shows with (space)foldername,
i use rm -rf ./foldername, it failed,
and i use rm -rf ./(space)foldername, oh no,all the files in the /var/lib/mysql are gone,
2)i do not have the backup files of the folder at all.
3)how can i rebuild the system files of the mysql server with a smooth way?
Host That Can Store / Retrieve SSN / Drivers Lic.
May 14, 2009Is there any host out there that is compliant (say to PCI type standards) that would allow me to create a online form that will be used to fill out a rental application?
These applications will need to have the SSN / Drivers Lic. of the user filling them out, as well as CC info to be processed.
The CC info does not need to be stored, just processed for the application fee.
The SSN / DL need to be stored in such a manner that the realty agents can retrieve the form the users filled out so they can then use it to submit the application for whatever purposes.
(I would imagine it also needs to be stored so that if they ever get called by the GOVT for information about certian tenants they can retrieve the forms if necessary.
If i do this for the client, I will of course have a contract signed that basically makes sure that I am not liable if the system is breached, as i don't want the host i use for the website part itself to be storing this information at all.
I am kind of looking for a API like setup such as a merchant account, but one that allows the storing / retrieval of SSNs / DL.
Retrieve Data From 2nd HDD After Server Failed
Feb 3, 2008My server HDD got corrupted. My server provider mount a new HDD for me, and put the OLD HDD as secondary drive.
This is what they emailed me:

I have a forum data (files and database) that is still on the old HDD, I hope to retrieve it.
May I know how can I access to the data?
I tried SSH, can only go till /dev/, then don't know what to do.
What is the command in SSH that I should type in order to go to the 2nd HDD? How can I retrieve the database and files to my new HDD?

Sep 6, 2014Initially I was able to connect via FTP. Then all of a sudden I started getting 550 SSL/TLS required on the control channel. Why did it suddenly required SSL/TLS when I did not do anything extra?
Now when I'm trying to connect via FTPES using FileZilla (tried both active and passive) on Linux Mint Debian, I'm getting the error below. I'm really stumped. I have tried to Allow incoming from all on port 49152-65534/tcp via Plesk firewall, but still no go.
The worst thing now is, I can't even get FTP to work anymore. Of course I would prefer to have TLS working.

Jul 22, 2007For starters im using mysql Server version: 5.0.32-Debian_7etch1-log Debian etch distribution.
What i did :
a) i run out of space on var partition, so i figured that i will copy my /lib/mysql to other partition (/mnt/hdb) and change only in my.cnf path to it.
b) I did so, and after launching mysql again i got several of this :
Could not retrieve from database: Incorrect information in file: './database/******.frm'
c) when i copy it back to my old location (and change back my : my.cnf) , same result errors

May 8, 2008the caching directory I created for eaccelerator deleted by itself. There are 2 copies of eaccelerator, one for apache and one for litespeed. The one for Apache got deleted today. Could it be due to the fact that the directory hasn't been modified or accessed in nearly 2 weeks? It's been that long since Apache was used.

I need to restore a deleted VPS. Problem is that another VPS was created right after the VPS was deleted. This is on a Xen hypervm slave.
I tried running vgcfgrestore -f /etc/lvm/archive/VolGroup00_01381.vg VolGroup00
but its not bringing back the files.
Any ideas at all at on how to recover? Is this even possible? I just need to salvage some files from /home from the old setup.
Perhaps delete the new VPS and then do a restore?

I've got the script half working but want to email them if issues are found with their account.
So far i've found no way to retrieve the email address from whm of the account holder that they setup when they signed up, is there a way to do this? the script runs on the server itself.

how to recover it? will cpanel maintain backup or of some sort? i havent stopped bind so my sites are working till now.

May 4, 2009I created a backup script to backup data to a separate drive using Robocopy. I used the /mir switch without knowing that it purges all the files and folders which are not present in the source directory. How do I recover the lost data? The Planet Deleted My Sites
Jun 23, 2008I was getting segmentation fault errors in logwatch, so I asked them if this is a problem with the server.
They suggested an fschck. No problem, I suggested they do this because I am not technically-inclined enough to trust myself.
They inform me they need to unmount to prevent corruption or data loss.. fine. they inform me there's an application or configuration that is preventing them from doing so. No problem. I asked them to restore my sites (which began showing as 404 since they began)... they didn't seem to know what I was talking about.
Now my ticket as been escalated to tech support. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN. No scan was performed! All of my accounts were WIPED. My sql databases are still there... but EVERYTHING relating to any account on my server is EMPTY.
I'm attempting a home backup restore now. I have backups of everything, but this was not my choice of events for a Monday morning at 3am!
I should also mention I am getting chargebacks up the wazoo right now, because my customers are thinking I took their money and ran!
Can Logwatch Files Be Deleted
