Could Not Retrieve From Database: Incorrect Information In File: "several.frm"
Jul 22, 2007
For starters im using mysql Server version: 5.0.32-Debian_7etch1-log Debian etch distribution.
What i did :
a) i run out of space on var partition, so i figured that i will copy my /lib/mysql to other partition (/mnt/hdb) and change only in my.cnf path to it.
b) I did so, and after launching mysql again i got several of this :
Could not retrieve from database: Incorrect information in file: './database/******.frm'
c) when i copy it back to my old location (and change back my : my.cnf) , same result errors
I cant lose my database:

I have a server with many db on mysql 5
Any db contains 5 table with data
This data is processed by routine
Many time routine die with the error:
"Incorrect key file for table '/var/tmp/#sql_3018_0.MYI'; try to repair it"
The table sql_3018_0.MYI not exist, think that this is refered to a temporary table but is deleted by process..

what I can do about the following database error in mysql?
Incorrect key file for table '/tmp/#sql_(number of table.MYI); try to repair it
I've repaired, optimized and checked the database in phpmyadmin. Initially 2 tables were showing overhead, but the error message is for a temp table and I'm not sure how to try to repair a temp table.

I just want an expert opinion if what I am doing should be considered to be secure (or if there is a more secure way to do what I am doing). I made our hotel's online reservation system and it stores the guests' credit card information.
The card is encrypted using AES (MCRYPT_RIJNDAEL_128) and the key that is used to encrypt/decrypt must be entered from the client side in order to log in. It is not stored on the server. So that my employees do not have to enter it every time they want to log in, it is stored in a cookie on their computer or entered manually if the cookie is deleted. When logged in, I have the key stored in a _SESSION variable in a subdirectory of that account's home directory and have the following attributes (for example):
Quote:
-rw------- 1 nobody nobody 0 Jul 9 16:48 sess_c1744d96fe87def6814db2c5936e1b1d
Does this seem like a secure enough way to store/encrypt/decrypt credit card data?

Whenever I setup a new FTP user in Plesk and then configure my FTP client with exactly the same username and password and transfer files and folders onto the server then the file permissions allocated are incorrect. Folders get allocated a permission of 700 and files a permission of 600, whereas I want all folders to have a permission of 755 and files a permission of 644. How can I change my setup so that files and folders get the permissions I want ?

I am trying to install Joomla on httpme.com but I seem to have problems with it recognising the username/password. Could it be a localhost issue or something?
I just can't seem to get a solution to this. I am referring to step 1 of the Joomla installation.

i found out that for the past 6 months ive been backup up all my MySQL databases into one big file. However, now that i actually need to restore a database, i can't find out how to actually restore 1 database out of this enormous file.
I can find the Mysql shell command to restore 1 database ... but it doesnt tell me if you need to have a 1 database dump file for this as well. It does not mention what happens if you execute that command on the big file containing all databases. Restoring all server databases would be a very bad thing.

I cant connect to the Database WebAdmin. If I click the icon, i got an "File not found." in the opening tab. Back in Plesk I get the following:
ERROR: PlexkFatalException
Server id is undefined?
I even cant connect via ssh to the mysql part of my server. But the server is running and both of my two wordpress pages run smoothly. I know this page: [URL] .... – but as I sad, cant enter die mysql.
It seems something is wrong with the permissions. I'm on the point where I just want to reset everything database related. But how?

Is there any host out there that is compliant (say to PCI type standards) that would allow me to create a online form that will be used to fill out a rental application?
These applications will need to have the SSN / Drivers Lic. of the user filling them out, as well as CC info to be processed.
The CC info does not need to be stored, just processed for the application fee.
The SSN / DL need to be stored in such a manner that the realty agents can retrieve the form the users filled out so they can then use it to submit the application for whatever purposes.
(I would imagine it also needs to be stored so that if they ever get called by the GOVT for information about certian tenants they can retrieve the forms if necessary.
If i do this for the client, I will of course have a contract signed that basically makes sure that I am not liable if the system is breached, as i don't want the host i use for the website part itself to be storing this information at all.
I am kind of looking for a API like setup such as a merchant account, but one that allows the storing / retrieval of SSNs / DL.

My server HDD got corrupted. My server provider mount a new HDD for me, and put the OLD HDD as secondary drive.
This is what they emailed me:
[root@ns1 ~]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda3 149G 3.7G 138G 3% /
/dev/hda1 99M 17M 77M 19% /boot
none 498M 0 498M 0% /dev/shm
/usr/tmpDSK 485M 13M 447M 3% /tmp
/tmp 485M 13M 447M 3% /var/tmp
/dev/hdc3 149G 23G 119G 16% /backup
I have a forum data (files and database) that is still on the old HDD, I hope to retrieve it.
May I know how can I access to the data?
I tried SSH, can only go till /dev/, then don't know what to do.
What is the command in SSH that I should type in order to go to the 2nd HDD? How can I retrieve the database and files to my new HDD?
