Files Deleted With FTP Still Show Up In SSH
May 4, 2008I just deleted several large files via FTP, but when I go in to SSH they still appear. Is there some sort of lag or something?

After installing Kernels seems /boot is boing to be full soon. Which files can be safely deleted ? Mean lets say to keep the latest Kernel and previous version:

View 0 Replies View Relatedon my old centos servers I can show hidden (.file) files with normal 'ls' and 'ls -l' command but on new I can`t show hidden files on that way, I must use command 'ls -a' to show that files!
Also, on new server I only see dir in who I working:

but on old server this look:
root@server [/usr/local/dir]#
Also, on new server I have new colors for dirs, files..
I recently updated from 11.5 to 12. After the update, my PHP session files are no longer being deleted.
I followed the steps in article 119500 ..... I was able to run the steps manually but cron does not seem to able to run them automatically.
The PHP sessions folder permissions seem correct:
drwx-wx-wt 2 root root 548864 Sep 21 12:12 session
The "/etc/php.ini" file seems reasonable and the session file path seems correct:
session.save_path = "/var/lib/php/session"
But the session files never get deleted automatically. The session folder fills up quickly and I have been deleting session files manually while trying to resolve the problem. How can I verify that the default Plesk cron jobs are set up and running properly?
When you delete a site backup from its "Backup Manager" Panel, it is removed and no longer displayed in the Panel. However, I cannot tell if this action actually does anything with the real site backup files in "/var/lib/psa/dumps". Does this action merely remove it from PSA's database but not touch any actual files? If this is true, then how are site backup files supposed to be managed if this action doesn't actually delete them?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to show a listing of all files in a directory that match a certain string, with *either* upper or lower case.
So if the contents of the directory are:
FILE1.txt
file1.txt
And then I do an "ls *file*"... I need both files to be in the results.
how can I do this? I couldn't find an "ignore case" switch when doing a "man ls".
I've had some recurring problems with my host, VPSLink. For some reason startup scripts and init files keep on being deleted and I can't reach my site. I am indeed a bit of an amateur at maintaining a site but I haven't messed with these files or deleted them. What could be going on? An attack from someone on the web? Or some kind of VPSLink related problem?
This is part of the latest reply I got from VPSLink:We have managed to get your VPS back online. It appears some Ubuntu package changed the way networking is started/shut down which removes the /var/run/network directory completely. This directory contains the 'ifstate' file, which OpenVZ uses to set up the network interfaces.
The site is indeed up and running again so I'm not desperate, but I would very much like to understand what's going on here.
We are running cpanel on one of our servers. Several cron jobs were deleted from the cron panel of one acct. I have no idea of the paths to re-enter these jobs. Is their a log file on the server that will show cron job history from previous runs so I can recover the proper paths?

Perhaps delete the new VPS and then do a restore?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI deleted one of our databases from PLESK in mistake, now how can I recover that database ? my backup is very old and I cannot use backup file.
this is urgent , I'm in bad situation please help me.
my server is Linux.
I found this article :

Hi I was following this guide:

Now command "wget" don't work anymore ... any ideas what is wrong with this guide ? I did exactly as it said.
I was getting segmentation fault errors in logwatch, so I asked them if this is a problem with the server.
They suggested an fschck. No problem, I suggested they do this because I am not technically-inclined enough to trust myself.
They inform me they need to unmount to prevent corruption or data loss.. fine. they inform me there's an application or configuration that is preventing them from doing so. No problem. I asked them to restore my sites (which began showing as 404 since they began)... they didn't seem to know what I was talking about.
Now my ticket as been escalated to tech support. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN. No scan was performed! All of my accounts were WIPED. My sql databases are still there... but EVERYTHING relating to any account on my server is EMPTY.
I'm attempting a home backup restore now. I have backups of everything, but this was not my choice of events for a Monday morning at 3am!
I should also mention I am getting chargebacks up the wazoo right now, because my customers are thinking I took their money and ran!
Does my linux server keep copies of deleted email messages? If so how can I go about retrieving them?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI wanted to post about a site I'm very concerned and frustrated with, HostJury.
It's simple. The other day, one of our web hosting customers posted our HostJury URL in our customer forums. Since then, a few of our customers saw followed the link and decided to submit reviews about us, which was very pleasing.
Friday night, I saw we had our first 4 reviews. Suddenly yesterday (Saturday) afternoon I checked on the page, and saw all of them had been deleted.
But I looked up the reviewers. They were all posted by legit customers of ours which I was able to find in our customer database, so the reviews are definitely legit.
I am especially frustrated as those 4 had rated us very high, so these are important reviews that have been removed by HostJury.
I don't understand what's going on here...
o Legit reviews
o We didn't ask them to review us, they did it on their own
o We didn't bribe our reviewers
o We didn't reward our reviewers
So what's the problem, HostJury? These kind of instances are interfering with honesty in the hosting industry.
I have a very strange problem concerning iptables. First I created some rules to accept INPUT to ssh for my home ip address. I also added rules for RELATED,ESTABLISHED (input chain) and NEW for chain output. When I enter iptables -L it shows the rules I just created. However, when I look again to the chains, the list was empty again with no rules showing, so seems like it deleted them automatically? How is that possible?
