100/100 (I've been working on this for 12 hours now, hence this post)
The problem as I see it:
The windows server receives the post into a temp space to which I don't have permission to access in order to move the file into the image directory.
The request:
Any work-around? The ISP (Easyspace) are "sympathetic” and I'm being really restrained here!

Shared File Space For All Web Servers
Is it normal practice to have shared filespace that multiple web servers can access? Then I just provide my developers access to that filespace (one server, instead of multiple users on multiple servers) to manage files for different sites easily... right? (also meaning multiple servers can serve the same content) So.. what would be the best way to do this? We're talking Linux systems here by the way. What sort of specs would such a server need? I *think* it's NAS that I'm trying to get at.. unsure though if that's correct or not!

im running out of space on one of my sites but i have more then plenty of data transfer. Unfortunately my hosting packaged it weird where they provide not enough hd space. Im trying to figure out is there a way where i can use another server or hosting company that can provide space only and use their servers just for space? i think amazon.com offered this but wasnt sure how exactly this works.

Unable To Make Changes To Php.ini
i'm trying to configure PHP, as I really need to turn magic quotes off and raise the memory limit. i don't want to use .htaccess - too many sites I got plesk 8.2.1, php5.1 well, to make it short, I ran 'phpinfo()' to see where php.ini was: etc/php.ini I change that, restart httpd, nothing happens. restart the server, nothing still. my changes are not applied when I run 'phpinfo()' again. i try 'locate php.ini' from the terminal, there are a few! /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/php.ini /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/php.ini.def /usr/local/sitebuilder/php.ini /etc/php.ini /etc/php.ini. /etc/php.ini.saved_by_psa /etc/php.ini.rpmsave ... plus some in the opt folder (that should be just the cache, uh?) the problem is that I tried to open all of them, to see where the hell php was getting the settings from, but none of them seem to reflect php's settings. meaning, I don't know what file I can use to configure PHP. all of them, for instance, say 'memory_limit: 32M', but php is set at 8M, and phpinfo() tells me memory_limit 8M. any idea why this might be happening? does Plesk have some tool to configure PHP that makes PHP ignore my changes?

I am having major problems getting php-gd working properly in my LAMP environment. I am running 64 bit CentOS and PHP 5.2.6. I am trying to get gd working with PHP. I'm working for an organisation which is looking for a company who can provide us with a public website to be updated with a CMS and 132 secure areas which should be accessible from that public website. Today I was sent a proposal by them stating that there would be a cost per year of: £3,350 for data storage areas of up to 20mb space per secure area (i.e. £25 per secure area) £6,700 for data storage areas of up to 75mb space per secure area (i.e. £50.70 per secure area) We really would prefer much more space per area than this (upwards of 2GB per area) and are a bit wary of how much is being charged for the storage space. Web Space As Personal Backup
Does any reliable hosting company that offers hundreds of gigs space allow "personal backups", ie. non-web content? I've been looking at ToS of some big names but most if not all don't allow this. It would be only 1-2 gigs, so I might get away with it anyway on most hosts, but would like to avoid problems in the future. Dreamhost offers both SVN and rsync, which I'd like a lot, but they clearly forbid such use. And, I do have an external hard drive and very important files are also on DVD and memory stick, but since I need to purchase webhosting I'm looking at this extra option too.

Php Passthru() Works From PHP CLI But Not Web
php passthru() works from PHP CLI but not web I have a script which I use to restart processes and I am trying to make it work by clicking a button on the word. It works from running it from php command line but I can never seem to get it to work through the click of a button. Does anyone know what may be the cause of this? here is some other observations: old php version 4 seems to work fine, but ever since around 4.3+ it just won't work from the web.

UK Web Hosting 500MB Space 1GB Bandwidth Existing .org.uk Domain
I'm the webmaster for a church website: stpetersbraunstone.org.uk and our domain & hosting renewal is coming up, so I'm looking to see if there's a better deal. We're with namehog.net (and have been for 2 years with no problems at all) on their Professional package. The renewal fees are 105GBP (web hosting) + 5.90GBP (domain name) + 17.5pc VAT to cover the next 2 years, which comes to 130.31GBP. The site is powered by WordPress, so PHP and MySQL are needed. And we upload lots of photos, so need at least 250MB webspace I'd have thought. So far, our highest monthly bandwidth usage has been under 800Mb, and our visitor numbers are increasing and our highest monthly figure so far was 401. Any recommendations gratefully received. There seems to be many different companies out there who offer what I want, so I'm after some personal recommendations please. I've already used this site to discount streamline.net due to bad reviews. I'm looking at fuzioned.com and redfoxhosting.co.uk - any thoughts? I've also come across no-wires.co.uk - has anyone had any good or bad experiences with them? And yes, I have submitted my details to the "request quote" thing.

Fast Webhost, Little Disk Space, With Php, Mysql, Phpmyadmin, And Alot Of Bandwidth
The most important requirement is that the webhost must be fast. It must have alot of bandwidth. The disc space is not so important. 200 MB would be enough. It must have PHP, MySQL and phpmyadmin installed. Must be accesable through FTP. There are offcourse more requirements. But the main thing is that i want it to be fast. My pages will be only informative and exists of just mainly text and an image every now and then. Do you know any fast webhosts that is good to handle websites with large amounts of visitors? I'm looking for something around 6 dollars per month. I dont know much about webhosting at all, so i'd appreciate any help i can get Also i see websites where you can register a domain. But the prices vary, isn't a domain just a domain? What makes this price difference?

VPS And Php.in Vs Shared
I'd like to install ACP because I have a account on the VPS with which I'd like to try it. The problem is that I already have Zend Optimizer installed (by default) and I've read that the two do not co-exist well together. 1) Is there a way to configure PHP such that ACP is only installed for this single cpanel account? or is the process of uninstalling Zend and then installing ACP a global thing that will have to affect all accounts? 2) Also, if I do go ahead and uninstall Zend, and then install ACP, but have a problem, is there a good way to reverse what I've done if there's a problem? Clearly I'd backup php.ini, but other than restoring the VPS, is there an easier way to "go back to a restore point" (for lack of a better phrase)?

Shared Hosting With PHP 5 As Apache
This is just curiosity at this point, but I might be looking for a shared host that has PHP 5 as an Apache module at some point. I'm desperately in need of an upgrade for my VPS, but I want to take it as slow as I can and do thorough testing on my existing sites before upgrading the whole shebang. I'm sure that nobody's running it as a module on shared hosting these days, due to the potential problems therein, but I just wanted to check to see if anyone had heard of such a thing that might be stable for a couple months' work with almost zero traffic.

Any Potential Dangers Of Using A Few Domains On Only One Shared Web Server
I have many website projects in mind. Some are more like a hobby, some are business(just for profit). I have lots of free time and I'm willing to work very hard. But the problem is that since I have many projects in mind, it may get a bit messy. I mean I'll get a different domain for all of them but how should I go about choosing hosts? One idea I have is to get one good(big space and high bandwidth) shared web hosting and use it for all of my domains. The advantage is that I'm not exactly sure about how much traffic my domains will get so it seems to make sense to get one big shared account for all of them. But if one of my websites starts getting lots of traffic, can I move it to another host and use the same domain? What would the disadvantages of doing that would be?

Shared Hosting Or VPS For Launch Of New Web App
I will be launching a new LAMP Web App that is a social network. At this point we have been testing on a Dreamhost shared hosting plan. However, we will be launching soon and I don't expect massive adoption I expect it to be slow and steady. 5-20 new signups a day. I want to ensure that even my first users experience a fast site, and I am wondering If I moved to a 256 or 512ram VPS will they notice a speed difference even with no real load? I am bootstrapping so money is tight and if I can hold off a few months I would do that if there would be no perceivable performance difference. Does anyone have any stories of moving from shared to vps before launching and noticing major page load time reductions?

Defunct PHP Processes On Shared Hosting
I've had a shared hosting account for several years and never had this problem before. Since yesterday I occasionally get 500 internal server errors on all my websites simultaneously due to a large number of processes on my account. When I log into cPanel and click on View Processes I only see 1 or 2 at a time, but support tells me that there are actually more than 25 processes and this is not allowed. Apparently they are defunct PHP processes (zombies?) that are waiting on their 'parent' processes to clean them up and for some reason my account is accumulating a lot of these. Support is not able to tell me which of my PHP scripts is causing this. All they can give me is something like this: USERNAME 4541 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? ZN 18:26 0:00 [php] <defunct> ...etc I have several websites on the account that use my own written PHP. I especially use a lot of functions related to mySQL, simplexml_load_file and reading/writing cache files. I don't know where to start looking to find the PHP that is causing these defunct processes.

What's The Proper PTR Record For A Shared Web/email Server On The Same IP
I have a dedicated server that is running apache and exim. While they're running from the same IP, I want the domain names to be www.mydomain.com for http and mail.mydomain.com for SMTP. What I've done so far is set up A records for *.mydomain.com and mail.mydomain.com to point to the same IP address. My MX record points to mail.mydomain.com. My exim primary_hostname is configured as mail.mydomain.com. Now I'm trying to get the PTR record set correctly so that outbound email doesnt get trapped by spam filters. So in this case should my PTR record point my IP to mail.mydomain.com and not mydomain.com or does it not matter? Is it strange that an RDNS lookup to the primary IP would return my mail server like that?

How To Develop A Web App (on Shared Hosting) Which Which Will Integrate Into CPanel
I have a web application (PHP and ASP.NET editions) which is widely distributed. The common question from users is "why does your script lack cPanel (or Plesk) integration?" Can anybody provide some guidelines of whether/how it's possible to develop a web app (PHP, ASP.NET) which will act as add-on to cPanel or Plesk, assuming that I will develop this integration using shared hosting account? The docs for cPanel/Plesk I found so far assume you have a dedicated server with admin access to cPanel (or Plesk) and thus can do everything with the server during the development process. But can I perform development of cPanel/Plesk compatible applications having shared hosting account only? Or, maybe, some hosting providers enable the required functionality while others do not? If so, could anybody recommend such a provider from whom I can get an account and make my web app cPanel compatible? I need to make the application at least installable by means of cPanel/Plesk, so that anybody could install it using cPanel/Plesk only and its icon would appear in the control panel just like other cPanel/Plesk-compatible apps do. Deeper integration (whatever it could mean) is planned but not for the time being. The same question for Plesk. Or, I have no other choice but to get two dedicated servers with cPanel and Plesk for my development purposes?

Shared Hosts Offers Php-opcode Caching
why so few shared hosting companies enable a php op-caching system on their system (xcache, apc, eaccelerator). Is there some specific technical reason in place? Usually I run my own servers, but it happens from time to time that you need a quality shared hosting in order to reccomend it to a friend, for a personal blog, a small website, maybe your own personal blog that you're not keen to host on your dedicated servers already used for big projects ... Now, as everyone using php applications knows, software like xcache or eaccelerator gives a nice speed bost to page generation. I run xcache on all my servers and vps (mainly running vbullettin and wordpress) and never encountered any issue. Installing one of those (eg. xcache) is a 5minutes procedure, and even for kiddie-hosting companies that won't know how to build php, the ability to compile eaccelerator is in the cpanel easy php build software, so you don't even need to know how to rebuild php to enable eaccelerator in cpanel. Despite all these facts is quite impossible to find a decent webhoster with xcache or apc/eacc enabled ... The only one claiming to have eaccelerator is medialayer : "# Zend Optimizer, IonCube, and eAccelerator" this is a quote from their website. How come nobody else undertakes this step? What I have been noticing is most premium shared-hosting provider I encountered run their server with a lot of free memory .. so why not impress the customer with blazing fast page generation times (wordpress footer displaying "page generated in 0.071 seconds" impresses also the non-technical savy customers) enabling such a simple feature ? There should be something I am missing, for sure.

Web Hosts Being Hacked Using PHP?
Out of the three websites that were hacked the hacker left a get.php file in the root and i decided to see what it was and i ran it. To my shock and horror it gave me all the different types of people hosted on the server and it also gave me their database passwords etc... Now each time i ran it, it gave me different results of different users on the server each time with a long never ending list. I just couldnt believe my eyes a simple short written php script showed me a lot. Now im not a PHP guru but this is quite serious and ive notified my web host showing them my findings. I was quite astonished it showed me passwords in peoples configs. Now my question is... is this something new or old and that my web hosts forgot to look into that area...? I mean its a php script thats all.

Reliable Shared Host Plan With PHP 5.2.+ With PDO Drivers & MySql 5.+
I switched to HostGator because they had PDO drivers enabled on shared hosting plans with PHP 5 & MySql 5. The problem is that every time they update PHP (4 times in 8 months now) they don’t include PDO in the build and its takes day to get past level 1 support and get it fixed. So I’m looking for a “Reliable” host. I had a hard time when I switched to HG finding shared hosting plans with PDO enabled.

I send out almost 50 emails a day from a PHP program on my web site. My web host wrote an email complaining to me. Should I: a) take their advice (and if so, do I need an SMTP server and how do I get one set up?) b) change web hosts? Here is the email from them: Hi there, Thank you for contacting us. Please note that the script is being abused via a web browser to send out mail. Please refrain to use the PHP mail() function as it is deprecated and vulnerable to abuse. We could possibly suggest that you take a look at using SwiftMailer which is well documented and supported. We have commented out all of the mail() function calls on your site.

I am running a website with a huge traffic on a single server with 2GB Ram and its working fine from last 3 years but from last 1 week the website is being unstable, not all the time but sometimes, Following are the conditions when the problem occures:- - When we enter the URL in browser and hit enter, it takes bit long on connecting...before reaching to the website, once the title appear at the top of the browser the page loads normally and while browsing the website, sometimes it gives page cannot be displayed error and we have to refresh the page. - at that time when I check the result from [url]it gives bit high Average Response Time. - On the other everything seems to be normal on SSH, load average: 0.90, 0.96, 0.79 Mem: 3116360k total, 2841948k used, 274412k free, root@silver [~]# netstat -alpn | grep :80 | awk '{print $4}' |awk -F: '{print $(NF-1)}' |sort |uniq -c 1 0.0.0.0 1197 ***.101.37.** This is the normal traffic, not the attack and site was working fine from 3yrs but I guess some recently made changes is causing this issue.
