I am planning to move my sites from a dedicated server (Ensim Pro) at ev1Servers.net to a Plesk 8.1 based server at SoftLayer.com
The current server hosts 30+ websites. Most of those are static HTML sites and the remaining ones use MYSQL.
The technical steps are beyond me and I am looking for someone to help me. The move should not affect the customers and should minimize downtime as much as possible.
I also want to have all my accounts passwords, user names, database, email accounts moved and copied over to the Plesk server. The final step should ensure all accounts function properly.
If you have done this before, is there anything that I should pay attention to or be aware of?
Do you know of a good company that would do this for me? How much will it cost me?
I've installed an SSL cert in an IP base site (over ENSIM panel), but now when I access to www.domain.com the explorer redirect me to https://www.domain.com:19638/webhost/rollout/site, and I cant see the site content.....I restarted apache after the Cert install, and nothing, still getting the same problem.
how to install an SSL certificate on this server but really haven't a clue. I searched all over the internet and the ensim site with no luck. give me a little direction in my journey from hell.
While creating a domain on Ensim I got this error:
Code: Field Disk Quota (WARNING): Disk quota is either not enabled or not supported for virtual domain filesystems. diskquota - Reconfigure service (WARNING):Group quota is not enabled on the server. Not configuring quota for the site. Please fix your server's quota problem and edit the site again if you want to configure quota for the site I'm using RHES 3 + Ensim Pro 4.1.0-8, i know maybe an
option would be upgrade to Ensim Pro X, but right now I can not do that, i need alternative solutions..
We currently have a site hosted on a dedicated server, and we use Ensim to manage the site.
Although we can use Ensim to FTP, we mainly use Dreamweaver or other FTP clients to FTP.
What we are wanting to do, is set up and FTP user, so that they can only have access to certain directories. Is this possible? If so, what would I need to do?
Also, when they connect via an FTP program (assuming that the access has been set up as desired) will they only be able to see those directories specified?
I just want to know how can I enable directory listing while someone is browsing a directory that doesnt have an index.* created.. i know its a security risk but i really need it right now, right now a forbidden message appears, i just want that removed and all my files listed.
Can anyone explain me how to do that on Ensim Pro 4.1 for just 1 virtual site?
I got a RHEL dedicated server it has Ensim Ensim Pro 4.0.3-22.rhel.3ES
I got a few email accounts over quota limit. Even though it reached the quota the still consumes mail.
the size keeps increasing until HD space runs out. I checked other forums and they recommended to
do this find /home/virtual/site#/fst/var/spool/mqueue/ -exec rm -f {} ;
I did this but there were no files in there to begin with.
So every hour i keep getting this failure notice. This is a report generated by the hourly run of MailQueueCleaner. Some sites on this server have problems which prevent the processing of their email queues. UNTIL YOU RESOLVE THE PROBLEMS, THESE SITES WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECEIVE EMAIL. A summary of the problems is included below.
sites over the quota show up here.
I just want to be abl to clear the mail out of selected accounts without logging in the account. I am sure it is some file to clear.
After login in using domain.com/webmail, everything is fine while I attempt to send mail.. but, If I try to forward an existen mail to a new destiny, an error message appears:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /webmail/src/compose.php on this server.
Already checked for allow/deny settings over httpd.conf and over the httpd conf for thiss site in particuular.
Long story short, my web host is unreliable and after a down period of 3 days - I want to move my website to a new dedicated server.
Old Server - Fedora Core 6 with Plesk 8.1 (64 bit)
New Server - Cent OS 5 with Plesk 8.0 (Still to confirm version)
My problem is how to transfer all data from one server to the other? The most important item to backup are the emails, and the rest I can do manually. Ideally I would want to backup the entire server in a one, and upload it to the new one but I doubt that will be possible.
I just took a server at a hosting service where I already have several Plesk servers running. The servers I already have running are equipped with 2 conventional disks in RAID1
This new server is equipped with a 2 x 2 TB and a 128 GB SSD disk. With a setup wizard you can install Plesk which comes with licenses.
This new server has a bit different partition model where /var is mounted on the SSD and there's a /data that's mounted on the 2 TB RAID. This /data will then not be used for Plesk.
I can think of many scenarios to change this, but I don't want to find out in the near future that back-ups aren't working because I'm using a symlink somewhere (just an example). The increased speed of the SSD is of course good for the databases, so maybe it's better not to move everything to that partition.
I'm thinking of creating mount points instead of /var/www , /var/qmail and /var/lib/psa
Copy its content to /data/var/www , /data/var/qmail and /data/var/lib/psa
Then modify /etc/fstab so these will point to the appropriate folder
I think it's more robust and transparent instead of using symlinks.
And what are the folders I chose to move?
Apache didn't want to start due to a permission problem.. I think I solved it by making SELINUX permissive
grep SELINUX= /etc/selinux/config
Code: # SELINUX= can take one of these three values: #SELINUX=enforcing SELINUX=permissive
i would like to move few clients from my old linux VPS that runs on Cpanel .. to my new windows VPS tat runs Plesk .. you see there were several attempts by new provider .. they cant guarantee that accounts can be fully migrated even manually they only copied site files to new server .. the client account's still running on linux vps cpanel, they are intact .. clients dont have any php or mysql files they are just plain HTML and Flash files .. i can move site files .. im concerned about mail accounts and emails that already in my clients inbox (they are using IMAP accounts) .. do you guys know any guideline or step by step how to migrate my clients
P.S. please consider me as an uneducated person .. my background is designing not programming or network administration.
I've just migrated server to server but I didn't use the migration manager, I simply backed up each domain's content and restored those backups on the new server.
The issue I have run into is the scheduled tasks at the admin level (Tools & Settings > Scheduled Tasks) work but any schedule task under a domain do not. The scheduled tasks under the domains show as inactive (no green tick) and when I click to enable them, I get the following message
"Information: The scheduled task Google Product Feed Daily Scheduled Task was switched on."
If I then look at the page, even though the above message says it is, the scheduled task is still not enabled. Going into the scheduled task and switching it on there results in the same message, but it doesn't switch on.
How to rebuild all of the scheduled tasks within Plesk?
I've been on shared hosting for nigh on 3 years now. My site suddenly started growing rapidly recently and my shared host now has requested that I move onto a VPS or Dedicated as soon as possible (I would stay with them, but they don't have VPS options sadly)
My site is an image host, a dynamic image host too.
About 80% of my visits are from the US so I have decided, even though I am UK, that I need a US VPS.
I need it to be cheap, like $30 (To start with, while I gain funds) and generally reliable.
Would anyone know where such VPSs are? I would like 300MB or more RAM and about 5-10GB of disk space. My main issue right now is quality of customer service, I don't want to end up with a company that either has poor customer service or puts extreme restrictions on activity.
I have two reseller accounts at the moment, where all my domains are spread out at the moment. And I have just purchased a VPS from SolarVPS, and I'm awaiting the account details. Is there a way that I can transfer the sites across easily, such as creating a full backup and then restoring on the new VPS, or would I have do it individually for each website?
It's now coming to the point where I really want to consolidate all of our kit (mainly in the UK) and move to our own AS number, now I already know what routing equipment we're going to use and that is appropriate for the amount of traffic we need to carry, but what I'm stuck with now is which transit providers to use. I don't mind spending a reasonable amount on transit, but not stupid amounts. It also doesn't matter where I can pick these up as the plan we have includes our own links between buildings.
First of all let me say this is going to be a very slow process, so please do not PM me with your offers for transit, I'm not interested.
The plans are to peer at a couple of exchanges, most likely LINX and Xchangepoint, and to pick up around 3/4 transit providers. Because most UK traffic goes via peers, what I'm really looking for are the bigger providers to improve transatlantic routes rather than smaller providers which just make the hop count longer, my shortlist is currently:
I'm moving from a VPS to a dedicated server and most of the files/databases have been transferred.
I have a folder (with files) in the /usr/local/ folder of the VPS (chatroom software), is there anyway I can transfer them to the dedicated server in its /usr/local folder through SSH/Telenet?
I have used it before to move my MYSQL database but I was following step-by-step instructions from Vbulletin, I guess this will be different compared to transferring a database backup.
I just had a thought. If I am moving from one host to the other, the old host would still have my files. Whats stopping them from just using the files to copy my site. Basically is there an easy way to delete my files from my old host?
only problem is that I'm on limited bandwidth internet, and i still have some really large files on the old server. can i transfer them to the new server without re-uploading them?
I have had my social networking site in development for a few months now, and have been using IX web hosting. Slow response times were one thing--I can handle that for now. But, especially now, emails generated by my application and sent to Yahoo are delayed by several days--apparently Yahoo is restricting the number of messages from IX servers?
My app only generates a dozen or so emails.
So ...
1) Is there a workaround with IX?
2) If I switch, should get a dedicated server? Or maybe use the cloud? I have been looking at rackspace, although I haven't received a call-back from their sales team in four days (sic)
