MRTG Cron Error
I've installed mrtg on my server and it's working fine, but I keep getting the following cronjob error every few minutes:
/usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/rateup: /usr/local/lib/libpng12.so.0: no version information available (required by /usr/lib64/libgd.so.2)
I've searched the net for a resolution and found others have had this issue, but no resolution has been offered.
Anyone else have this problem or know the solution?

I know you can use MRTG and multiply and divide and all that but I'm looking for something that will also include estimated monthly transfer in both mb/s and gigabits per month.

MRTG With 95% And Usage Info
how to configure MRTG so that it displays the 95% usage as well as total amounts of traffic used? This is what I need - first image on left. And this is what I have so far after the install: 2nd image on the right. Also, how do I set the maximum of allowed traffic (to be taken as "maximum" for the percentage calculation)?

MRTG Usage Explanations
My ISP is using MRTG (95th percentile) for my monthly billing. However the numbers showing on my "usage" page aren't adding up. Well, to clarify, the number by which they bill me at is the "Last 30 days usage (Metered 95%): xxxx mb/s". But this number isn't reflecting what I am seeing in the individual Daily/Weekly/Monthly stats and graphs. Daily: Max in: 38.0 kb/s Max out 320.9 kb/s Avg In: 4216.0 b/s Avg out 24.1 kb/s Weekly: Max In: 1692.4 kb/s Max Out 5675.1 kb/s Avg In: 26.9 kb/s Avg Out 86.8 kb/s Monthly: Max In: 3541.9 kb/s Max Out 5635.4 kb/s Avg In: 298.4 kb/s Avg Out 410.4 kb/s Last 30 Days uaage (Metered 95%): 4518.43 kb/s Now for two weeks my server was pushing nearly 10 mb/s (95th percentile only use the HIGHER of the In OR Out as its measurement)- and then for the next 10 days my server has barely pushed 100 kb/s. 10 days ago the "Last 30 days usage" number was 4480.1 mb/s, but today, 10 days later, the "LAst 30 days usage" is 4518.4 kb/s. My ISP tells me that "last 30 days uage" is calculated every 5 minutes. But if my usage 10 days ago was 4480kb/s and my server has barely pushed ANY bandwidth since, shouldn't the laws of averages see that number steadily declining? As an example: If I pushed exactly 10mb/s for exactly two weeks, then pushed 0mb/s for the next two weeks....then the average mb/s for a 30 day period (not calculating 95th %) would be 5mb/s. And as the 3rd week started, I would steadily see the 30 day usage start to decline and eventually reach 5mb/s on the last day of the 30 period. This is a logical, and my approach, to understanding this - yet the numbers aren't indicating this.

Installing MRTG In My Linux Server
I tried installing MRTG in my Linux Server by using help from - [url] What i have done till now is - cd /usr/local/src gunzip -c mrtg-2.16.2.tar.gz | tar xvf - cd mrtg-2.16.2 ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mrtg-2 make make install After this i am unable to understand what to do, and how to start MRTG graphs. * the next last step says, CONFIGURATION The next step is to configure mrtg for monitoring a network device. This is done by creating an mrtg.cfg file which defines what you want to monitor. Luckily, you don't have to dive straight in and start writing your own configuration file all by yourself. Together with mrtg you also got a copy of cfgmaker. This is a script you can point at a router of your choice; it will create a mrtg configuration file for you. You can find the script in the bin subdirectory. cfgmaker --global 'WorkDir: /home/httpd/mrtg' --global 'Options[_]: bits, growright' --output /home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg community@router.abc.xyz This example above will create an mrtg config file in /home/mrtg/cfg assuming this is a directory visible on your webserver. You can read all about cfgmaker in cfgmaker. One area you might want to look at is the possibility of using --ifref=ip to prevent interface renumbering troubles from catching you. ^^ this is what i am not able to understand. When i ran the script, (below mention) it gave many errors, how to resolve them ? [root@c bin]# ./cfgmaker --global 'WorkDir: /home/httpd/mrtg' --global 'Options[_]: bits, growright' output /home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg eth0 Error: can't resolve "output" to IP address at /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/../lib/mrtg2/SNMP_util.pm line 428 SNMPWALK Problem for public@output::::::v4only at ./cfgmaker line 950 WARNING: Skipping public@output: as no info could be retrieved Error: can't resolve "/home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg" to IP address at /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/../lib/mrtg2/SNMP_util.pm line 428 SNMPWALK Problem for public@/home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg::::::v4only at ./cfgmaker line 950 WARNING: Skipping public@/home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg: as no info could be retrieved Error: can't resolve "eth0" to IP address at /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/../lib/mrtg2/SNMP_util.pm line 428 SNMPWALK Problem for public@eth0::::::v4only at ./cfgmaker line 950 WARNING: Skipping public@eth0: as no info could be retrieved # Created by # ./cfgmaker --global "WorkDir: /home/httpd/mrtg" --global "Options[_]: bits, growright" output /home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg eth0 ### Global Config Options # for UNIX # WorkDir: /home/http/mrtg # or for NT # WorkDir: c:mrtgdata ### Global Defaults # to get bits instead of bytes and graphs growing to the right # Options[_]: growright, bits EnableIPv6: no WorkDir: /home/httpd/mrtg Options[_]: bits, growright

How To Generate PHP Error.log Files In The Directory Of Error
unable to get any php5 error logs Here are my settings in the /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini file: display_errors = On display_startup_errors = Off log_errors = On log_errors_max_len = 1024 ignore_repeated_errors = Off ignore_repeated_source = Off report_memleaks = On error_log = /var/log/php5/error.log However unfortunately I never see any error log being generated in the /var/log/php5/error.log file? Also with my shared hosting site one thing which I noticed was, due to some configurations set by them, the error.log used to generate in the folder where the error occured. This is a cool thing which they used to do, but I just dont understand how did they do that.

But if I put the SSL portion back in, Apache fails. All paths in http.conf and ssl.conf files are correct. And the SSL Cert is valid. This is Centos box with Apache2 with OpenSSL 0.9.7. Any suggestions on why this happened out of the blue and how to fix it?

Per Second Cron Jobs?
Hey everyone, my friend's dad is looking for a web host that will allow his cron jobs to run every second. Most hosts apparently dont allow cron jobs faster than 5 seconds apart. How often a host can run cron jobs isn't really advertised on their sites so I'm having a bit of trouble finding a host. I've resorted to just sending emails to sales addresses asking about it. Does anyone know how I can find a host like this?

Does Cron Timeout?
Simply wondering, does cron timeout? I have heard mixed reports and can't find any good info. Personally i've run a cronjob for up to 6 minutes, but as my best method was sending myself emails through php, its not exactly a highly accurate testing method. On the same note, what would happen if one cronjob is running a php script for over 10 minutes, then another cron job starts on the same script, before the first one has finished?

Rsync And Cron
I have a bit of a strange problem, I have an rsync command setup in the servers crontab and from the cron log it show it ran the command but the files don't copy to the backup server. If I take the rsync syntax and run it manually all the files copy across with no errors, but I can't figure out why the cronjob doesn't work properly.

Remote Cron
I've just noticed that many people may have a free remote cron facility without realising it. If you have any domains registered with Godaddy, you get free web space that includes a cron facility. It only runs every half hour, but you could set six jobs at 5 min intervals to get an effective 5-minute poll, which is good enough for many purposes. You could use it to check uptime on another site, for example. Has anyone tried this?

Cron Commands
I've been reading through tutorials for setting up cron commands via cPanel, but everything I have tried does not work. What I need to do is simple - I just want to run a php file on my server once every 15 minutes.
