Is Form Mail Hosted Service Worth It

Jun 18, 2007

I signed up for a 1 month trial of Matt's hosted service for form mail as I was in a hurry to get a client's web site form going (the site was migrated from Windows Server, where it used an asp script).

The features look good, but I was hoping someone has experience using it and can share some insights.

GoDaddy Virtual Dedicated: Is The Assisted Service Plan Worth It

Jun 9, 2009

I am a PHP/MySQL web developer and I want to take on the challenge of administering my own server.

I have Plesk installed on the server, and I imagine I will have command line access to the dedicated server.

What unknown challenges lie ahead for me? What are things to monitor to keep the site running efficiently? What should I be using to connect to the server? What tools are available to help me be more efficient?

Not Able To Send Mail From PHP Form

May 20, 2008

We have windows 2003 with Mail-Enable mail server. We have PHP 4 and PHP 5 on the server too.

From one of the PHP mail sending script we are not able to send the mails. currently we cannot see the logs for mail sending from PHP form in the mail-enable logs. Also when we trytelnet domain.com 25 it give the correct result.

there is no connectivity between the php and mail-enable on the server. But mails are working fine from the webmail, but they are not working from the php.

how to enable the logs for php mailing sending in mail logs so that we can see it. Also please tell us how we can configure PHP and mail-enable both together so that mails will work fine from PHP script.

Send Mail From Web Form Using 3rd Party SMTP

Apr 1, 2008

I have a CDONTS script which has been sending mail from a client's website form to their address. However, the script has suddenly stopped working. It doesn't error, they just don't receive the mail. I've tried CCing myself in the script and the mail is not getting through. The script itself is tried and tested and syntaxially correct.

I think the problem is because they're using their own exchange server, not the web hosts' mail server. Therefore I would expect that mail sent from the web script wouldn't go through because there is no local mail server to process it.

The problem is that the script hasn't changed, the host say their system hasn't changed, and the client's IT team say their exchange settings haven't changed!

I could set up a CDOSYS script to use their Exchange server to deal with the email, but their IT support won't allow relaying, so I don't think this is possible.

Is connecting to their Exchange box the only option, or should the website host still be able to process the web-script-generated mail despite not being their mail provider? I'm getting a lot of grief here, but it can't be the script that has suddenly broken because nobody has touched it!

Plesk 11.x / Linux :: External SMTP - PHP Mail / WP Contact Form Not Working

Aug 15, 2014

I'm using a 1blu.de vServer. On my VPS is Plesk 11.5 with centOS 6 installed. I created my Webspace [URL] .... and removed the Mail Services and activated the MSMTP plugin because I'm using the webserver from the hoster 1blu.de.

I activated the Firewall with the "allow any connection" rule.

In Plesk Tools & Settings > External SMTP Server I filled in the server informations smtp.1blu.de password & username. I checked all three boxes -> SMTP needs auth, allow user scripts ...

I installed Wordpress 3.9.2 with a Theme that uses PHP Mail function. The contact form is not sending any messages out. So I tried other php mail scripts but it doesn't work.

[URL] ....

Code:
<html>
<head><title>PHP Mail() test</title></head>
<body>

This form will attempt to send a test email. Please enter where this test should be sent to

<br><p>
<form action = "sendmail.php" method = "post" name="sendmail">
Enter an email address: <input type = "text" name = "to"><br>
<input type="submit" value="Send" name="submit"><input type="reset" value="Reset" name="reset"><br><p>

[URL] ....

Where can I find the log file that could give me information?

I just want to use php mail for my wordpress contact form and for a project application.

Error In My Mail Server Hosted In Google

May 23, 2007

Why I am getting this even when mail server is hosted with Google? Need help

WARNING: One or more of your mailservers is claiming to be a host other than what it really is (the SMTP greeting should be a 3-digit code, followed by a space or a dash, then the host name). If your mailserver sends out E-mail using this domain in its EHLO or HELO, your E-mail might get blocked by anti-spam software. This is also a technical violation of RFC821 4.3 (and RFC2821 4.3.1). Note that the hostname given in the SMTP greeting should have an A record pointing back to the same server. Note that this one test may use a cached DNS record.

Filtering Mail For Externally Hosted Domains

Jul 19, 2007

I have a VPS with cPanel/WHM where I am also running the MailScanner package as an anti-virus/anti-spam solution.

I would like to extend this service to clients who are satisfied with their web and email hosting but not with their spam control solution. That is, I would like MailScanner to process their email before it reaches their server. I believe this can be done by changing the MX records of the external domains to point to the mail server on my VPS.

The problem is, I don't know if I should put host.myhostname.com (my VPS hostname) or my IP address in their MX records. Also, to make MailScanner process their emails, I need to add their domains to my MailScanner configuration at etc/localdomains, but I assume that also means I have to create a mail-only account for the domain in WHM?

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Setting Up Mail With Hostname Hosted On A Different Server

May 14, 2015

I have a server that I use to host my primary domain, and I have a cople Plesk servers, now I updated the hostnames of all the servers like

Code: s1.de.myserverplace.de

Now when the plesk server sends a mail it goes in spam always,

In the SPF records of the primary domain sits this

Code:
myserverplace.de. IN TXT "v=spf1 a mx a:myserverplace.de a:s1.de.myserverplace.de ip4:148.251.100.157 ip4:144.76.163.46 ip6:2a01:4f8:201:81b8::60 ?all"

But when I actually send the mail in the headers of the received mail I get this.

Code:
Received: from s1.de.myserverplace.de (s1.de.myserverplace.de. [144.76.163.46])
by mx.google.com with ESMTPS id p2si2158952wjy.73.2015.05.14.04.09.17
for <mymailtestacount@gmail.com>
(version=TLSv1.2 cipher=ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 bits=128/128);

[Code] ....

How would I set this up so this doesn't happen?

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Mail Service Won't Start

Mar 7, 2015

I switched off the mail service for one of my domains in that sites control panel a few days ago because there were some malicious files on my server sending out spam. I stopped the service until I cleared all the files that weren't meant to be there and then tried to restart the mail service again but it won't start.

I get this message 'Information: Mail service settings were successfully changed for the selected domains.' but the service stays off. I had the same problem on another site on the same server and carried out the same process but the mail service for that website started fine.

I installed Cloudflare for Plesk during this time and thought that might be causing an issue but after disabling this I still can't start the mail service for the domain.

Is there a section of the main (super admin) control panel that manages the mail services for each domain I am unaware of?

Plesk 12.0.18 on DebianĀ

Firing Back At Yahoo For Their Inconsiderate Mail Service

Apr 25, 2008

We've installed domainkeys, SPF, and taken all measures suggested by Yahoo but customer e-mails continue to be delayed for days at times. And then of course they end up in the recipients junk folder. Worst of all is that Yahoo does not care to take the time to help or inform ISP's. No explanations, just generic tips.

So I was wondering if there is some sort of exim or sendmail script (procmail?) we can create that will do the following:

For every e-mail sent to Yahoo, the mail server sends another one to the recipient with a notice saying something like:

Attempts to deliver this e-mail to you were rejected by Yahoo mail service X number of times [or delayed X hours/days]. If this is unsatisfactory, we suggest you contact Yahoo support for a resolution.
