Install Php5 Via Yum But Keep Mysql 4

Nov 6, 2007

Is this possible? It seems that yum wants to also upgrade to mysql 5 if I want to upgrade php to 5. I'm having a hard time finding any info about it online.

How To Install Mbstring For PHP5

Jan 17, 2008

I'm using Apache2, MySQL5, and PHP5 with CentOS4.6, cPanel 11.

When recompile Apache2 and PHP5 from WHM, there are no options for mbstring, so now my PHP5 doesn't has mbstring.

I tried to install mbstring as below, but I got this message:

Quote:

root@mybox [~]# yum install php-mbstring

I also tried:

Quote:

up2date -i php-mbstring

Are there other ways to install mbstring for PHP5?

Install PHP5 As CGI With PHP4 Already Installed

Aug 12, 2008

1) Download PHP 5.x and do the usual

cd /usr/local/src
[url]

2) Compile php as in a new directory such as /usr/local/php5

Use the same ./configure line required but with the following changes:

--prefix=/usr/local/php5 --exec-prefix=/usr/local/php5 --program-suffix=5 --enable-force-cgi-redirect --enable-discard-path

3) Compile and install
make
make install

IMP Steps :

cp php.ini-dist /usr/local/php5/lib/php.ini
cp /usr/local/php5/bin/php5 /usr/local/cpanel/cgi-sys/php5
chown root:wheel /usr/local/cpanel/cgi-sys/php5

4) Edit httpd.conf and add lines below::

AddHandler application/x-http-php5 .php5
Action application/x-http-php5 /cgi-sys/php5

Just use .php5 and it will invoke php5.

# CGI configuration for PHP4
Action application/x-httpd-php4 /cgi-sys/php4
AddType application/x-httpd-php4 .php4 .php .php3 .php2 .phtml

# LibPHP5 configuration
LoadModule php5_module modules/libphp5.so
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php5

Low Memory After Installing Mysql Mod Php5

Nov 6, 2009

I have a VPS.

I have installed "Lighttpd, php5cgi, mysql-server, mysql-client,
libmysqlclient15-dev"

I have optimized the MySQL Server (/etc/mysql/my.cnf).

All these together just take 30 mb Memory.

Lighttpd use just 12mb memory And everything is very good.

But,

When I install php5 mod MySQL:
apt-get install php5-mysql

Then the Lighttpd memory increases to 90mb!

I am using updated Debian Lenny, MySQL5, php5.

Compiling PHP5 With Mysql & Mysqli Support

Jun 15, 2009

While trying to compile PHP 5 with mysql and mysqli , I was facing some issues.

Actually, the configure command generates a bad Makefile.

Open the Makefile and look for a line staring with EXTRA_LIBS

You will see that the option “-lmysqlclient” is repeated twice. Delete one of them and save the Makefile.

Now, you should be able to run the Make command and compile PHP without any issues.

Host Recommendation (Req: PHP5, MySQL, CRON, Mass-Email)

Sep 1, 2009

any hosts that can provide the following:

PHP5.3 +
MySQL
CRON (to run daily/weekly scripts at a certain time)
Mass Email. The scripts will send emails to a number of users(between 10-100 at first, but may grow) and this will be done daily and weekly.

In the past, I've tended to go with SupaNames or FastHosts but looking at their solutions for this, it's not quite right for my requirements.

Uninstall MySQL 3.23 And Install MySQL 5.0

Mar 28, 2007

I've rented a dedicated server that comes with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and MySQL 3.23 but I need at least MySQL 4.1 or higher. My knowledge about GNU/Linux is very limited, so I've read some documents at mysql.com and now I think I have to follow these steps:

1. Uninstall MySQL 3.23 with this command line:
shell> rpm -e mysql-*.rpm

2. Install the server and client RPMs of MySQL 5.0:
shell> rpm -i MySQL-server-VERSION.i386.rpm
shell> rpm -i MySQL-client-VERSION.i386.rpm

Install PHP And MySQL

Jan 9, 2007

i was wondering if this would be difficult to install on a server? I don't have any server experience. But we do have a network tech that will be doing it for me. I made a request to have WordPress installed on our servers at work. He stated taht it would take a lot of work reconfiguring the server. I don't understand why unless he was taking about install Apache which is not required. it will run off IIS.

About how long would it take to configure PHP and MySQL to get it ready for WordPress?

CPanel DNS Only, Now Cant Install PHP, MySQL Etc

i am running a VPS and recently installed cPanel DNS Only so it can operate as a standalone DNS server.

I would also like to serve standard webpages on it via apache and php, i therefore tired to install php, mysql etc via 'yum install php' but it says there is no package to be installed.

Has the cPanel DNS only install done someting to the yum config? I have installed Yum Priorities plugin, and my repos files are as follows:

Plesk 12.x / Windows :: WordPress Install - MySQL Extension Was Not Found

Feb 9, 2015

Running Plesk 12.0.18 on Windows 2012

I create a new domain then use Plesk Applications tab to install Wordpress. It shows the message:

Code:
Error: Unable to install the app because its installation requirements are not met. Contact your hosting provider to resolve this problem.
Requirements
PHP extension
The 'mysql' extension was not found.

However, php is installed and phpinfo shows that the mysql extension is installed. I try different versions of php, cgi/fastcgi but ll fail with the same error. I install Wordpress via FTP and it works fine.

There are knowledge-base articles relating to this error but they are for Linux and the solutions don't work in this case:

[URL] ...
[URL] ...

Maybe the Wordpress database has to be created before using Plesk to install Wordpress? If so, what should the database name be? How does Plesk know what the name of the database is that it should use? Why doesn't Plesk just create a database to use?

2nd problem: After I manually browse to the install page I get the following errors:

#Error: /config/config.php is not writable

# Error: /public/files is not writable

# Error: /cache is not writable

# Error: /upload is not writable

I have realised that permissions are not setup right so I went and gave cart blanche access to the folder for any user..it worked but is far from secure. What is the best way to do this?

When installing web applications like this are they usually done from the servers browser where the server is the only one with full access.I tried this and it didn't work.

Apt-get Php5 Or From Source

Jan 20, 2008

Running ubuntu server 6 if I apt-get php5 the version I get is 5.1.2.

Now the latest version on the php.net site is 5.2.5.

Does it really make much of a difference if I'm slightly below current? What are your thoughts please?

I know if I go compiling from source php and mysql are difficult to get working together which is why I like the apt-get method.

We have a client which site requires PHP4, not PHP5 to run. Can we run both PHP versions alongside each other? Apparently, their site will only work in PHP4. We are running Plesk 8.3.0 for Linux.

'--disable-static'
'--disable-debug'

'--with-exec-dir=/usr/bin'
'--with-versioning'
'--with-mod_charset'
'--with-regex=php'
'--enable-track-vars'
'--enable-trans-sid'
'--enable-safe-mode'
'--enable-ctype'
'--enable-ftp'
'--with-gettext=/usr'
'--enable-posix'
'--enable-session'
'--enable-sysvsem'
'--enable-sysvshm'
'--with-openssl=/usr'
'--without-kerberos'
'--with-freetype-dir=/usr'
'--with-zlib=/usr'
'--with-zlib=/usr'
'--with-zlib-dir=/usr'
'--with-zlib-dir'
'--enable-xslt'
'--with-xslt-sablot'
'--with-iconv-dir=/usr/local/lib'
'--with-mysql-sock=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'
'--with-mysql'
'--enable-mbstring=all'
'--enable-fastcgi'
'--enable-discard-path'
'--enable-force-cgi-redirect'
'--with-curl=/usr/local/curl'

I can't get it working, this is the error i get :

..

checking for T1lib support... no
checking whether to enable truetype string function in GD... no
checking whether to enable JIS-mapped Japanese font support in GD... no
checking for fabsf... yes
checking for floorf... yes
If configure fails try --with-jpeg-dir=<DIR>
checking for png_write_image in -lpng... yes
If configure fails try --with-xpm-dir=<DIR>
If configure fails try --with-freetype-dir=<DIR>
configure: error: GD build test failed. Please check the config.log for
details.

I think i'm not the only one who is experiencing this problem, take a look here:

Why do PHP.net don't give much importance to this BUG?

I'm using the same OS : Centos 5

Installing Php5

Mar 27, 2008

I recently installed ubuntu 7.10, and apache2. Both installed with no problems. In my browser i am able to type localhost, and i recieve the "It works" page. I can also start, stop and restart with no problems. However, I cannot install php5. I use synaptic package manager to install, and i added the appropriate lines to the httpd.conf file but i still cannot view .php files. I try to run a simple php page and a dialog box pops up prompting me to open or save the file. If i choose either, the box just pops up again.

PHP5 Hosts

Jan 27, 2007

I'm trying to keep up with things by developing for PHP5. My current host still uses PHP 4.4.1, which is a pain. Can someone advise me if I should change host to someone who uses PHP5. I would rather have shared hosting due to budget. If so, who should I use? Otherwise, can someone point me in the direction of a resource that describes how to develop for PHP5 while retaining backward compatibility for PHP4.x so I can write code targeted primarily at PHP5, but also works on PHP4.x?

PHP5, MySQL5

Jul 7, 2007

I've already managed to pick two web hosts for my business that probably won't do the job, so I'm looking for some advice. Primarily we need PHP 5 (with cURL), MySQL 5, easy to implement SSL and some kind of e-mail. I wouldn't imagine using more than 1gb monthly data transfer or needing more than about 20mb of storage.

The database design and all the code was custom written by me and a friend. We are not interested in overly-fluffy GUI's - we like power tools without the finger guards. We'd also like to have good logs of errors, accesses, etc.

Finally, I'm not interested in saving $10 a month to get an overloaded server that goes down now and then. Web host rates are pretty much trivial in comparison with the cost of downtime for this site.
