Can anyone recommend hosted DNS services that they've used? Just looking for something to use with about three dozen low-traffic domains.
EasyDNS wants something like $300-$600 which is a completely different level of service than I'm looking for. I just want something modest for personal use.
Goggle has failed me most miserably on this..I find I need to do some serious load testing and user traffic simulation. Free software..I find..but it is almost all java-based..which..is not doable easily from a small vps. Uncle Bill has a windows based tool..but that requires a windows-based vps..and those are not cheap nor plentiful.
Ok..two directions this could go:
Linux based do-it-yourself testing and user/load simulation software

A hosted solution (with a free trial hopefully)
I had used mecury's loadrunner many moons ago..but now that hp has bought it...it seems to now be you-must-have-your-own-server solution now..and not a hosted one.
we provide a community portal for our users, we run the possibility of setting up a mail from us. Since we have limited experience with anti-spam configuration and we do not like spam bothering our users, looking for suitable "hosted antispam solution.
I'm thinking of getting a small shared account with GeekStorage, just wanted to see if any others were happy with them? A quick search revels a few negative threads about load/downtime but most seem quickly resolved.
I come to you the community to ask can I host a vps and a domain together on the same domain.
Okay so hears how it is I buy a vps from www.site1.com and then a reseller from www.site2.com can I then host these both on www.mydomain.com with out any problems setting up accounts on the vps or reseller?
I currently host exchange 2003 and we are in the process of building up an exchange 2007 solution. Anybody have any links or whitepapers on the setup? I am stumbling on some permission issues - particluarly with the address lists - with the new exchange server roles.
I am moving my shared hosting website to a vps at new provider.
Is it usual to place email server running on the same VPS as my website? Should I worry about email bombs taking out my www or a www DoS attack shutting down my email?
I ask because my new provider doesn't offer email on other own dedicated server. I have to run it on my VPS.
I have a .fr domain purchased from Gandi.net. I have webhosting with GoDaddy.com.
After setting the DNS to point to GoDaddy.com (ns51 and ns52...) I get an error message and the DNS revert back to the default settings (gandi's DNS). AFNIC's(.fr regulator) zonecheck fails with the following error:
I'm doing a bit of research JFMI and I was wondeering if anyone had an idea as to what is the total number of domains that are hosted in the world. If the total number of domains registered is now 183 million +, what percentage of those domains are actually hosted?.
Spot Hosted is a good service provide. They help me in alot of things and they have great support! They have great plans for a great price. I like their service very much, they provide good fast servers and keep up to their support aswell. Even if I speak not good english, they still help me and get the job done fast. I would recommend them to anyone.
Back in winter 2006 I visited this very forum asking for advice on where to find a reliable and friendly host. I was shown downtownhost by several people on this forum and I was initally impressed when I saw them.
I've posted up two reviews so far of them in this forum, both of which were very positive.
Over the past year I have been on the smallest semi-dedicated hosting plan which I believe is around $60 a month which I'm happy with.
Until that time I was on their shared hosting which was too excellent.
At first if I had a few problems the three guys (there was only 2 at first I think) were on the support desk to help me out.
Speed and reliability are as good as I can hope for. I never have any problems any more so haven't had a chat with the guys on the support desk in ages but I'm sure they'd respond better than ever.
I shall await your comments.....and the monthly hosting invoice that arrives in my inbox tomorrow
after reading a lot im decided to leave my actual hosting company and im almost convinced about getting an account at hawk host. But i have other hosting companies in mind owning data centers in Europe. As im in Spain i need to know that being hosted so far wont ruin web browsing for spanish visitors, so i would appreciate anyone hosted at hawk host to drop address for their webs, better if are some different from different people so i can discard a single web being slow just because it is built that way.
We are looking for a provider to host a secondary MX in the UK, It will be designed to act as a failover for 500 days for a maximum of 10 days whilst a replacement primary MX is sourced.
This service would need to stay live all of the time and we need the following: UK Based Spam Assasin ClamAV Managed Service with SLA and 24 hour support cover. The Ability ro relay a specific domain to a specific IP address.
We would be willing to add new domains and IP addresses if we are shown how to do this. All of the management and maintenance of this service would need to be completed by the company supporting it.
We have very little experience with Linux and this is why we would like to outsource this.
i have a site typed in German, on a dot de account but it is physically located on a server in VA, USA. Does that hurt me when people search my keywords? Would it benefit me if I moved it to a server located in Germany?
LIke the title says, requirements are only that it is hosted in Chicago, runs Windows 2k3 so I can log in from the remote control app in windows, and preferably under $30/mo. I only need about 10/15 gigs a month bandwidth max, and HD space, no more than 2 gigs.
All will be hosted on the same server (same IP) and I want all to be secured, through a SIGNED certificate, not a self signed. I assumed that wildcard ssl would be fine for this, but I just took a look and it's only for subdomains: example.example.com hello.example.com.
Is there any way of having every subdomain and domain secured, using ssl, through one certificate? I don't want to have to buy individual certificates for every domain, that'd be... expensive.
We are about to buy some servers from Ecatel but I want to learn some site names hosted in Ecatel to test speed... Also testfiles would work for me good.
