I'd like to make a private proxy server on a Linux VPS. That way, I can use the VPS's IP address when surfing (I would configure it as a proxy in my local browser). What software would I need for that, and how do I allow only access *from* my local computer's IP address. And can this also be done for non-HTTP traffic?

My system consist of Ubuntu 14.04 server running LAMP. I am running Apache 2. On the same machine I am running Shiny server and running my apps through port 4949.

I also am running an additional Shiny server copy on a virtual box through port 3838. All is running very good. I have an html web page running on Apache 2. I can view it and all my apps running on both Shiny servers from any place on the web.
My concern, however is security. I have port 3838, 4949, and 80 open. How can I set up Apache to run as a reverse proxy for my both of my Shiny servers (ports 4949, and 3838) and also continue to host my web page securely.

I freshly installed Plesk 12.0 on Ubuntu 14.04. Everything works accept the MySQL database creation.
When I try to create one, i get this error :

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am currently with the planet and am happy with them, however as part of a new venture I need to gather a list of hosts as well as the planet that will be able to cater to the ventures needs and go to tender with the requirements.
ThePlanet offer something called a virtual rack. This is cheaper than renting a dedicated rack, allows for Gb networking but doesnt not allow for a SAN. Do other providers offer something similar? The cost of putting a machine on the virtual rack is not that much more expensive than just renting the machine. I guess there isn't too much to these set-ups to be fair.
If not, then we are looking for dedicated racks, with the ability to host a SAN at some point, but starting off with say 3 servers (2 web servers, 1 storage server with raid5 6Tb of hdd). These servers will be dealing with network cameras although I don't think that many will be streaming at once but the network capacity does need to be there.
Who's door should I be knocking on to find out some prices?
One final thing, should I bother looking for co-lo providers as well? We are in the Uk but not precious about our host being in the same country at all (it would be nice but uk prices are ££). Really, all we would be able to do with co-lo is buy the hardware outright to save price as we are not interested in looking after the hardware.
I have a Plesk 12 installation behind a firewall. The firewall blocks all outbound 443 and 80 internet ports. One has to use the proxy in order to access the internet. I have set the proxy in my environment file as well as inside the Plesk --web-interface installer.
However, when I try and do something like Retrieve Keys I get an error:
Unable to connect to license server https://ka.odin.com:5224/xmlrpc. cURL error description: Couldn't connect to server(7)
I tail the proxy and can see it's not using the proxy for this. It's doing a direct connection that's getting blocked.
Where do I tell Plesk to use the proxy for something like this?
Does the current Version of Plesk use a "real" nginx webserver or an Apache Webserver with nginx as a reverse proxy ?

Centos6.6 x86_64 Minimal install + Plesk12 installation completed without problem.
However when I logged into Plesk Panel i get this message.

Everything seems to work but i would like to have it enabled for performance reasons, when i check it

Being relatively new to the Linux world, I don't exactly know why my reverse proxy settings are not working. Nothing i have tried has worked.

With enabled nginx I'm unable to contact web pages via TLSv1.1 and TLSv1.2. When nginx is disabled and the pages are handled by Apache everything is fine. But only when nginx is completely deactivated. It's not enough to disable "Smart static files processing" at the "Web Server Settings for sub.domain.tld".
I tried to add "ssl_protocols TLSv1.1 TLSv1.2;" at "Additional nginx directives" at the Web Server Settings, without effect.
I think i have to modify /etc/nginx/plesk.conf.d/server.conf but this file is generated by Plesk.

How I create DNS in Plesk for a domain?

There is some problem with my email and developer tell me this yesterday:
To view DNS records for a domain you need to (after loging in as admin) click on the domain name, then choose DNS Settings. Mx record is configured correctly there, but they are not taken into consideration.
You should change the nameservers from the registrar to the nameservers of your hosting. Right now the following are used: ns-canada.topdns.com. hostmaster.topdns.com .
They should be either the nameservers received from the hostings, or if you did not received any then you will have to create them, on the registrar side and on your hosting side.
So you should go to your registrar and change the nameservers for your domain. Do not just change the ip for the main A record. After you do this you will need to wait a while for the changes to propagate.
On my registrar have i set in my server ip but when him do a test here: [URL] ....
