Php Build As Cgi With Exec
Apr 16, 2009I have build PHP as CGI but now the function exec says with every command like uptime this error: [Thu Apr 16 10:28:37 2009] [error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] sh: uptime: command not found
This also happens when I do the command convert (yes Imagemagick is installed). Strange enough when I login with the permissions of the exame user I can do the commands through SSH without any problem.
I use DirectAdmin with custombuild. How can I resolve this? Am I required to build PHP to CLI to use the exec command?
Is It Safe To Enable Exec()
Jun 21, 2009I am trying to install gallery 2.3 and it requires exec() to be enabled for some functions. Is it safe to enable it in php.ini?
In php.ini file I see this, disable_functions = symlink,shell_exec,exec,proc_close,proc_open,popen,system,dl,passthru,escapeshellarg,escapeshellcmd
I have CentOS running on my VPS.
How Many Hosts Have PHP Exec() Disabled
Dec 5, 2008My happiness with Innohosting (as a reseller) has come to a screeching halt when I found they've disabled exec(). This has sunk my plans to use Typo3 and Gallery for a website I'm creating for a client as they use Imagemagick through exec(). Rather than reconfigure them to use gdlib (possible?) instead, I'm inclined to look for a host that allows exec().

I'm waiting for them to get back to me. I hope it's a solution as Innohosting seem great otherwise.
Failing all else, how many hosts have PHP exec() disabled? Is this common?

Backup Exec Scheduled Not Running
Dec 15, 2008I have a client that is running backup exec. They have 2 scheduled jobs in the system. One of them runs, and one does not.
It is skipping over the job. If you watch the timer for the backups, it counts down, 2 mins, 1 min. Then jumps to 60 mins. No errors or anything reported in the logs.
Again, the other backup job runs perfectly fine and a manual job runs as well.

Jul 1, 2009I have been having a lot of problems with my server lately. Today I attempted to update container software. The operation failed with this output:

I am slowly learning how to use Linux and the SSH terminal to manage my server... but this beyond me...
(I wonder if it has anything to do with the "segmentation faults" that have been occurring.)

Client Can't Log In To Cpanel
Jul 16, 2009I've got cPanel 11.24.5-R37127 - WHM 11.24.2 - X 3.9
CENTOS 4.7 i686 standard on server
A hosted client suddenly can't log in to her cpanel. I can login just fine with her user/pass and another gal can too. But she can't. She says it just keeps asking for the password over and over.
I had her clear her cache and cookies, and reboot her pc, but that did no good at all.
Might this be a server issue or a browser issue?

Nov 28, 2008I got a problem where mine is stuck acquiring an IP. I have a 64bit OS so I have to use Vmware 32bit os to use the program and my firewall is setup to be open for that particular VM but still it cant grab an IP. Ive left it enabled for around 30 mins it doesn't time out or stop or error. Someone else uses it who is in another location and was in the system yesterday so I'm not sure if she had any issues but said she had no problem getting in so it must be my setup.

Dec 23, 2007My company runs an extremely successful ecommerce website but we are currently unhappy with our current provider for reasons I will not list here. We are looking to move to a carrier neutral location (possible switch and data because it is in the same building) or other options are Equinix and?.
The problem is going from one provider and a /29 to trying to balance two or three providers. No one is going to do bgp with someone only using three ips. We have 2 cabinets with 40 servers (60u total) but most everything is nat'd.
What options are available? Management wants 99.999% uptime (yes i know unrealistic) but downtime is lost $$$ when 100% of sales come from the web. They are willing to pay to keep downtime at a minimum. Multiple data centers around the country is planned for later in 2008 or early 2009. Server cost is not the problem but making the website and back end databases work in a multiple data center environment is the problem.
Any suggestions? Is Internap a possibility? During my searches here at WHT, I seem to see either Equinix, Server Central, or SteadFast mentioned as the favorites. Pricing looks fine at Server Central and it looks like they may have their own network. Steadfast pricing is cheaper but the amount of outages in the outage forum scares me.

Oct 26, 2009I purchased an EV SSL Cert, and all is fine. Installed via cPanel, and I get the green address bar in Firefox, but not in IE.
Comodo (the vendor) have an Auto-Enhancer feature which automatically tells IE to give me a green bar. They state in their FAQ the following instructions to install the feature:
Replace the bundle file that is in use for the web site.
Use the 'SSLCertificateChainFile' directive instead of the 'SSLCACertificateFile'/'SSLCACertificatePath' directives.
I have download a .CA-BUNDLE file from them.
Please tell me, now what do I do? I am at a lost at their instuctions, and going by my dealings with them, I think I can get help from you guys more accurately and quickly.
The server runs WHM/cPanel 11 with Apache 2 with mod_ssl. Full root access, but I am a Linux newbie.
