Can Rbl Antispam Filters Block Emails Sent Through Clean Email Servers
Jun 24, 2007
I have noticed that a customer's emails are banned by certain RBL/antispam filters even though they are sent using SMTP-Authentication through a non-banned SMTP server.
It seems that its ISP IP is blacklisted..... Is this normal?
I am receiving around 7.000 emails from different sources with the subject “Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender” or similar.
It seems someone is using an alias to my email address to send huge amounts of spam. I have checked the mail queue in WHM and the emails are not there. I have turned on the SMTP Tweak in security center, but that doesn’t seem to work.
I have no idea if this person is using my server to send massive amounts of spam,
What I have noticed is that most emails return to msxf@mydomain.com so is there a way to block this?
We have several clients who use phplist for their opt-in lists. ATT and a few others are blocking emails. The main reason is because the email from the list (email@client.com) originates from comcast.net. ATT and others appear to block based upon that discrepancy.
Questions for anyone who works with phplist:
1) If the client simply sends from the comcast.net email (and not from email@client.com) and we allow this as a valid sending source in phplist, will this solve our problem?
2) We attempted to send via webmail, which would have trumped all issues, however because the clients are sending email which incorporates graphics in a template, webmail is a poor choice.
3) Is there another workaround that we are not seeing?
I use a spam protection service. It works as following : -My DNS are configured to point to a server (sever A) which is configured to filter spams. -If an email is not a spam, the first server send it to my mail server (server B).
But some spammers found a way to bypass the protection : They send directly their email to my mail server (server A). So, i want to allow only emails coming from the server A IP.
Exist a domain (domain.fm), this domain receives constant DDoS attacks and the webmaster of domain.fm has pointed the domain to my server and the DDOS attack has been redirected to me.
Is it possible to block this domain?
I noticed that the webmaster of domain.fm only points the domain to my server when attacked.
Yesterday my apache has been down for several hours.
I would like to block access to my servers from the domain domain.fm
I login & send email through thunderbird using SSL and it's ports (so I no longer connect using 25/26). Occasionally I use webmail (Squirrelmail)
My scripts do send mail via sendmail.
Does my cpanel server still need the basic 25 & 26 ports to deliver and receive mail successfully, or can they be blocked in APF without any problems arising?
My server is sending all emails via exim smarthost to other specialised exim server (both cPanel). How may I limit customers from sending out SPAM ? Mean to scan outgoing emails and delete/store in some folder which ones identified as SPAM. Preferrably the scan part to be on exim email proxy cause it is much idle.
I have configured qmail+spamassassin. It working find but still I have 2 problem. I am receiving spam mails from my own account to my own account e.g. from=info@domain.com to info@domain.com. How can I block this spam?
I have web site on one shared hosting. Now I want to move to another provider. However on first one I have around 500MB of emails which I would like to move also, because I only use web mail.
I found some instructions that I can copy Qmail's folders and emails and then restore them, but since this is something that providers will charge me for ($80 just for backup), I'm looking for another solution.
I was thinking that since both servers allow IMAP access, I could simply log in in one and another and then copy emails between folders.
- Would this work?
- When I log in with Microsoft Outlook, I only see "Inbox". I don't see "Sent" or other folders which I also have to copy. How to work around this?
I'm going to start moving all my resellers from one dedicated server to another.
I'm going to do it like this:
Suspend their account in whm, but instead of it saying account suspended, it will be changed to something such as "Account Transfer in Progress". This will prevent changes to db's, files etc which could be lost during the transfer.
Once all accounts have been transferred I will change nameserver IP's to new server. They can then use their accounts as normal on new server.
What I want to know is:
What will happen to emails that are sent while the accounts are suspended, will they bounce?
how I could transfer the accounts (150-200) with minimal downtime, I would be interested.
We do little hosting since a couple of years but want to expend our hosting solution.
Actually, we user ASSP and SpamAssasin to block spam but we are looking for a better solution, something who get power and who is easy to user for end user...
I take a look at barracuda but it's very expensive...
we provide a community portal for our users, we run the possibility of setting up a mail from us. Since we have limited experience with anti-spam configuration and we do not like spam bothering our users, looking for suitable "hosted antispam solution.
I would be interested in knowing if anyone has used the data returned from Senderbase.org as part of their antispam evaluation. And if yes, have you found this to be effective compared to traditional IP blacklists like SpamHaus ?
I was wondering if some of you more seasoned techie's can help me. I have a reseller hosting account and one of my clients is having issues with getting any email that is sent from any yahoo email account to her domain email. I have personally tried to send an email from my yahoo account to her domain email and here is the error I got back. None of my other clients has the issue. This is a new account by the way.
*********************************************************** Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.
<andrea@jazzinaroundfarm.com>: Sorry, I wasn't able to establish an SMTP connection. (#4.4.1) I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.
