Therefore we need to create a public HTTPS address to allow access to the OWA/OMA part.
We do NOT (at this stage) want to allow general access to OWA over HTTPS (we have an eGap solution with RSA for this) so we need to be able to lock down access to the OWA server only to specific devices. One way would be to use Firewall Rules at the Outer DMZ and lock down by the IP ranges of the phone but thats prohibitive to other devices and will fail when the phones change IP (i.e. international roaming)
Therefore Im wondering if we can use self signed SSL certs where there is no trusted CA provider (if there was all browsers would simply be prompted to trust the source and then get access). If we use our own self signed certs and have them installed on the client devices would this work? What would be the downsides (i.e. less cryptogrpahy without the CA part?)
I have taken over management of a bunch of a dedicated servers and have a question.
What are the commands on Linux (RedHat, RHL) for giving a User access rights to a directory(ies) only.
So that this user can FTP and Telnet to the server but will be able to:
1- only upload files to these directory(ies)
2- only delete files/dirs from these directory(ies)
3- only execute programs residing in these directory(ies)
I have WHM and Cpanel on my dedicated server. Is there a way to give them access to change this? I dont want then to have access to everything either.

I have an account on godaddy, with more than 20 domains registered and well, so far i have been in charge of the updates of these domains and the websites they represent. But now I have this customer who is asking me to have access to his specific domain so he can upload files by him self, the thing is that i dont have a clue of how to do it. I tried to create a new account in godaddy for this customer and tried to transfer this domain into his account and I was not allowed to. I cannot give him my username and psw cause he wont only have access to his website but all those i have registered under my account. I will really appreciate some advises to help me work this out.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy reseller have got one plan, where option "Gestion de l'accès au serveur via SSH" (Manage SSH access to server) is on "Peut autoriser l'accès uniquement à un environnement chrooté" (Can autorize access only in chrooted environment).
This plan contains only one subscription in which I would like to permit users to use sftp. If I go in the subscription, and then I click on "Customize subscription", I can see option "Gestion de l'accès au serveur via SSH" (Manage SSH access to server) is on "Peut autoriser l'accès uniquement à un environnement chrooté" (Can autorize access only in chrooted environment)...
=> So same than in the plan.
After that, when I click on subscription => WebSites and Domain => One domain => FTP Access and I choose a ftp user, I don't have any option to allow ssh access to the user.
I'm using Plesk Panel 12 on Debian GNU/Linux 7.6 server. I created a ftp user in a subdomain (sub.domain.tld) of my domain (domain.tld).
In Tools and settings = Policy security, I allowed sftp and ftp connections. When I try to connect I get this message :
Code:
sftp my_user@domain.tld
Connection closed
In the password file I got :
Code:
my_user:x:10000:1003::/var/www/vhosts/domain.tld/sub.mydomain.tld/httpdocs:/bin/false
I have a software program on my home PC that writes to files on my remote VPS every few minutes.
The only way I can accomplish this is to CHMOD the files to 777 and give the whole world write priveledges.
Is there a way I can give my external (home) IP address write priveledges to certain files on my VPS without CHMODing them as 777?
I run the latest version of cPanel and WHM on my VPS.
Is there any way to give a reseller or customer access to the php custom settings box labeled "Additional configuration directives" on the website & domains -> php settings button that an admin can see and alter? We have attempted to give resellers the "Common PHP settings management" and "Setup of potentially insecure web scripting options that override provider's policy" options, but it still does not show up to a reseller.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently installed apache + php and such a move over this large site.
However any files that end with the .rar extension are shown in the browser instead of being displayed as a download.
Is there something i need to add to apache to force it to make .rar files be downloaded instead of displayed in the browser as jumbled text and symbols.
*I think im just have a memory block and can't remember how i have fixed this before*
URL....how to setup apache so files are downloadable from it. I guess I should also be using SSL.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get something simple to work in Plesk. I just want to use Apache for PHP files with Fast-CGI and PHP 5.6. Everything works fine with Nginx and PHP-FPM but because of the restrictions, that Nginx can only use a systemwide PHP version, which is 5.3.3 in my case, I need Apache for that.
So the problem is that I get the .php files as download and Apache doesn't parse them.
A little background information:

I'm trying to set up Apache on CentOS 4. I'm using Apache 2.0 and it can't seem to access anything outside of the /var/www directory - it gives an Error 403.
I thought this would be down to SELinux but this is disabled. I've run the following command on the directory but with no luck:
Code:
chown apache /home/jmaskell -R
if there's an OS where that is possible?...i'm probably in the wrong section at this point, but i was thinking about using Remote Desktop to accomplish this...something like a Virtual Private Network... but i don't have XP pro or any other system that could act like a server...
my goal is to allow staff working off site to easily access files through windows programs like ms word or ms excel to save, edit, etc -- files would be located on the web server or on a network computer on site (not necessarily a network server)
I'm running into a strange problem. I've copied this code from rentyourdot.com and it uses curl and also file_get contents. I keep seeing this:
Warning: include() [function.include]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in
Now i have access to change anything on the server, and both these are set to on in phpinfo.
allow_url_fopen = On
allow_url_include = On
I also have another script that uses file_get_contents to get a remote url and its working fine. Any clue why its even coming up with that error?
Ho can I configure that in the mail accounts the mails are deleted after downloading with outlook?

I can access other *.jpg *.html file without any problem, but no flv file.
I thought it's firewall issue, but even I turn off firewall, it's still having the same issue.

I have a file on my server called admin.php and a folder called "admin" I only want 2 IP addresses to be allowed access to those files.
can this be done in .htaccess? if so can someone give me an example?
I have spent ages trying to work it out myself but I'm a bit of a noob
thanks in advance
what should .htaccess files be chmod'ed to ideally?
I'm getting an error when I try to allow apache access a mount nfs folder...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have download manager script that I use for my customers to download products right after the purchase.
Script generates download link that looks like this:
http://www.yourwebsite.com/download/...582921B&p=1840 (where 2YY6582921B is receipt number that is different with each purchase).
All products are placed in one folder. This folder can not be seen in above download url, but can be accessed thru browser and files can be downloaded that way without paying for them.
Can I use .htaccess and if yes how, to protect all product files the way that they can not be accessed directly by visiting url thru browser (in case somebody will find the correct url), they should be allowed for access only for my download manager script.
I've got a file I want to access via cURL that is within a password protected directory.
I've tried sending:
Code:

"HTTP_AUTH_LOGIN: admin3e",
"HTTP_AUTH_PASSWD: opensesame",
"Content-Type: text/html"
);
curl_setopt($curl, CUROPT_HTTPHEADER, &$headers);
(insecure)
and:
Code:
curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_HTTPAUTH, CURLAUTH_BASIC);
curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_USERPWD, '[user]:[pass]');
but I can't figure out how to get past the login:

I'm having problem on my server AMD x 2 4200.
When insurance button F5 to refresh the page of my site server climbs the load and lock, when i restart Apache it back to normal.
I just have a website with a dedicated IP address and shared SSL generated in CPanel.
I ask then my host to finish install, which they did.
Now, when I get into the certificated pages (HTTPS), I can see the https:// in the address box of the browser, however the lock sign does not show up.
How can I fix this? I would like to show this lock sign to show the site is secured, since not everybody knows what is a https connection.
