I would like to upload all of them to the hosting under public_html
I do not use sub directory.
Can I make sever down or slow?

I have hosed my domain in a small hosting company and when i was going through all its folders i found both the folder www and public_html has the same content. but by hosting company asks me to upload all my files into public_html. May 16, 2008My server has one IP address assigned to it and i use Webmin with Virtualmin to manage domains.
When you put my IP into a browser like [url]however, it points to my websites public_html folder at /home/username/public_html, which was the first domain i set up.
I would like to change it so that the IP points to its own folder: /var/www/html when entered into a browser.. how do i do this?
Move Public_html Folder
Jun 28, 2008I have recently registered a new dedicated server, I am trying to move some sites over. Essentially, what I am trying to do is copy the public_html folder from one server to another.
I have root access on both accounts, I have managed to move the whole home folder from the old to the new, but I guess I would need to download all 2gigs worth of data then upload again, or is it possible to extract only the information you need from the compressed backup.
I am thinking that specifying data from an uncompressed folder wouldn't be possilbe, so, is there a way of moving certain folders from one server to another via SSH?

Jul 20, 2008OK so I'm on the shell and looking at the contents of my home/ directory which has all the various accounts. In each account directory are subdirs such as mail, logs, tmp, etc, and public_html. Is there a way (or a ZIP command) to be in the home directory and create a massive ZIP file containing all the account directories, each containing ONLY the respective public_html subdir for that account?
Using the command "zip -r Backups.zip ./" seems to include all those extra folders (such as mail, etc.) that aren't needed.

It does not find the public_html folder I added. Is this a permissions problem? or something else?

Best Way To Move Public_html From Server To Server Using SSH
May 21, 2008I'm trying to move all files in the public_html folder from one server to the other. The way I used to do it was download all the files to my computer, then upload them again to the new server. This is a hassle and time consuming, obviously.
My question is, what is the SSH command to do the following:
- Zip the public_html folder
- Move or Copy zipped file from server #1 to server #2
- Unzip it the public_html folder
I figure this is the easiest way to do what I'm trying to do, unless you know of a better and faster way.

I read that 302 pages may mean a website's traffic is being redirected by someone else...?
Obviously, I want to know if someone is sneakily redirecting my traffic... and I need to protect myself against it.

I can set up the accounts manually, as it's a small and focused group I would be providing it to. I understand there is a simple way to place ads at the top of all the web pages on the server. Phish Pages
Oct 30, 2008I have these few old accounts(websites) that has history of being phish attacked. The problem is like this. When I transfer them to newer server using whm backup transfer in most cases hacker can still upload phish pages BUT if I recreate the account and moved old the files manually to that new account and server phish attacked is gone. Any idea why this is happening? Probably old cpanel files that causes this? where do I start? For some reasons I cannot just recreate the account then do it manually in behalf of the clients. Some sites are somehow complicated if I do it manually.

HostGator Ads In My Error Pages?
Aug 22, 2008I just got an account with HostGator and when I typed in part of my site's URL wrong it went to some kinda shady looking HostGator spam site.
There's some message that says something about money from their ads going to charity. Does anybody know if they actually donate the money to charity and if so which charity?
Even if the money does go to charity, I think it is extremely unprofessional of them to override the error pages that I uploaded with my site.
Linking Pages With Different Hosts

SSL With Links In Https Pages...
Jun 18, 2009I have an SSL cert installed to have a secure commerce area. Some of the pages have external links to non-secure sites like say [url]The padlock icon breaks and warns that there's unauthorized content. The hosting provider says it's because the external links need to be https links. Obviously that can't be done to a non-secure external site.
So the question is: do external http links break security on a secure https page? If so, is there a work around other than removing external links?
