Apache :: Serve XML File As Response For Appropriate Request When Web Service Is Down

May 30, 2013

I am using the latest version of Apache on an Windows XP machine

When my web service is down for maintenance, since Apache is will still be up and running, I would like for Apache to serve an xml file as a response for the appropriate request. I have three operations available, makePayment, calculateFee, and voidPayment.

Is it possible to have Apache determine what type of request is made for example if I have an xml error page for each operation; how will Apache know which xml file to serve based on the operation request from the client

To make it more clear: What is the best practice for modifying apache to know what request is being made in order to serve the appropriate xml file?

Apache :: Won't Serve Up CGI

Jan 25, 2013

I have installed Apache 2.0.64(Win32) and after repeated tries at adjusting the httpd.conf file, it still is refusing to serve up CGI. So far I have, following the Apache documentation, set my designated CGI directory with AddHandler directive, Option +ExecCGI enabled. Also have added the ScriptAlias directive as per instructions. These directives should work in conjuction with modules mod_alias and mod_cgi, both of which I have made sure were set to be loaded. The log files show no errors. There are no syntax errors being pushed out at start-up. The server stops and starts upon commands, with no problems,

I will post some excerpts from my httpd.conf in the pastebin as soon as it gets up & running--right now the authentication icon is missing.I have Active Perl 5.16 running on this machine, but my Apache download is the binary without SSL and with msi installer.

Apache :: Unable To Serve More Requests

May 25, 2015

I have a little problem (on my Raspberry) with the maximum concurrent connections. When I open multiple tabs of a webpage which keeps persistent connections, apache is unable to serve more requests. Here is the (shortened) mod_info output (which also takes some time till there is a process kind enough to serve the request):

Code:
Server Version: Apache/2.4.10 (Raspbian) OpenSSL/1.0.1k
Server MPM: prefork
5 requests currently being processed, 9 idle workers

.___W____WWW_..W_...............................................
................................................................
......................

Srv PID Acc M CPU SS Req Conn Child Slot Client VHost Request

[Code] ....

When I understood it correctly, apache should spawn new processes (up to MaxRequestWorkers=150)

But there are idle???? processes, so it wont add new ones?

I dont think it has to do with mod_proxy (used for the webpage) since the mod_info output is affected as well...

The Planet Not Honoring Request To Cancel Service

Jun 14, 2008

I recently switched webhosts from The Planet to iWeb -- not really because of the recent outages at The Planet but more because I was just looking for a better price/performance ratio. I thought other people should be warned about my experience, which was that it was not possible to get The Planet to honor my request to cancel service.

I filled out their online form to cancel service. They then sent me an automated email saying that I had to call a certain 800 number within 48 hours to confirm. When I called that number, I got a message saying that all their people were busy, and offering to let me leave a message and have them call me back. I tried four or five times over then next day and a half or so, leaving multiple messages, but I never got through, and they never returned my calls. I then opened an online chat session with one of their people. After going around in circles for a while, she told me that The Planet had a new policy, which was that confirmation was not required in order to cancel an account. She assured me that my account would be canceled within 48 hours of my original request, and that I would receive an email by then confirming the cancellation of the service.

At this point my monthly billing date was only one day away, and I wasn't very convinced that they actually would refrain from billing me. So I called my credit card company and changed my credit card number to make sure that it wouldn't be possible for The Planet to run the recurring charge. (Changing the number seems to be the thing to do in this situation, and is really not that difficult. You just have to switch any other recurring-charge accounts to a different credit card, and wait a week for the new version of the card whose number was changed.)

Well, sure enough, I got an email from The Planet saying that they'd tried to bill me, and the charge had failed.

I don't know if this is a systematic problem at The Planet. A couple of things may have contributed to the problem. One is that I was originally a customer of Rackshack, which was renamed to EV1 and later bought by The Planet. The Planet apparently has separate user databases for the two sets of customers, and this initially confused the person I talked with in the chat session, although she eventually assured me that it was ok. The other factor that may not be generally applicable is that this was in the time period right after the explosion at one of their data centers, so things were probably crazy there, and that may have contributed to their problem with processing the cancellation correctly.

Apache :: Rewrite JSON / XML Response Possible?

30 Seconds To Initial Response - Wordpress / Apache On Linux VPS

Oct 17, 2013

My site will wait for 30s almost everytime before loading any of the page itself.Specs of my install:

- DigitalOcean Droplet (VPS) with Ubuntu Server 12.10: 512 Ram and 20GB SSD (not even coming close to needing more RAM, still have 240MB free according to top)
- Wordpress 3.6.1
- 5 plugins: W3 Total Cache, Wordpress SEO by yoast, WP Better Security, WP Smush.it, and Redirection (problem occured before adding the last 2, I can't remember about the others)
- No traffic to speak of. I get maybe 10 uniques/day.
- Apache 2.2.22
- MySQL 5.5.32

I've optimized my site itself the best I can, minifying and combine js and css files, using the WP Smush. It plugin to compress images, serving jQuery from a CDN, but none of that worked the 30 second wait (though it did shave about 10 seconds off the load time after the wait for response).

I was using cloudflare and had to fiddle with the nameservers of my domain, but cloudflare didn't work at all and I switched the nameservers back to normal pointing DNS directly at my site to eliminate the obvious causes. I'm comfortable with Linux and the command line. This is the link to my site: [URL] ....

Apache :: How To Remove Connection And Keep Alive From Response Headers

Aug 17, 2012

How can i remove "Connection and keep-alive" from response headers ? I am using Apache http server to load balance two tomcat nodes

Apache Server- Apache/2.4.2
mod_jk - 1.2.27
Apache tomcat - Apache Tomcat/7.0.23
JDK - 1.6

I have also enabled SSL in the apache http server using mod_ssl. The load balancing works fine, but in all the response headers these connection attributes are added "Connection: keep-alive keep-alive: timeout=5"

Is there a way to remove these headers? I do not want these headers to be added in the response. I have also tried mod_header to unset these headers, but no use. HTTP/1.1 protocol is being used, so eventhough the connection is not present in the header, the connection would should be considered as persistent. Why is apache sending these attributes explicitly in each response. I just want to get rid of these attribute...

Apache :: Arduino UNO - Can't See Request In Log

I am working with an Arduino UNO and a WIFI Shield connected to the Apache server.

I am sure Arduino is connected to the WiFi network and to the server, and it also sends the GET request to the server.

Apparently, everything is OK because I can see the 200 OK message from the server in the Arduino serial monitor, but I find no trace of that request in the server log although all the requests made from the browser (by typewriting the server address in the browser address bar and pressing enter) appear in the server log.

Apache Handles Every Request 3 Times

Oct 21, 2007

New VPS, CentOS 4.5, Apache 2.0.52, Plesk 8.2.

Every request is getting processed 3 times. In other words, if I point my browser to the URL of an image hosted on this server, it generates 3 lines in the access log each time I refresh the page.

If I point it to a script which logs something to a file, it logs it 3 times, showing it's run all 3 times.

I haven't touched the httpd.conf or any other configuration. Any idea what could cause this?

Two days ago I noticed increased, many times. Google bot activity on my site and when I checked my log file I found that all pages crawled were wrong web addresses: to the above index were added existing files from my site like

/folder1/folder2/file.html

So, the strings looked like

[URL] ....

And surprisingly all they returned code "200".

My question is: is there any way to rewrite such requests to the first ".html" found in the string.

Hardcode APACHE To Deny Request To Particular Domain

I have done so far is used apf -d abc.com to deny outgoing and incoming requests and the php pages (proxies) cannot access the site anymore).

But what i want it something hardcoded into apache itself so it blocks all php based request going off the server to that domain.

How can i go about it?
