Remote Backup Solution For Server

Apr 15, 2009

backup service for my dedicated server that can do the following:

Take backups of the server without my laptop being involved when the backup takes place.

(So I can take a vacation for two weeks and have my laptop turned off - while backups still taking place).

Strangely I have found it impossible to find such a service ... All services I have looked at require my laptop is turned on and running some software while backup of server is takeing place.

Backup Of MySQL Database To A Remote Server

Dedicated Server With Remote Desktop

May 30, 2009

I am hoping to find a dedicated server with the following specs or similar...

Processor: 3.00GHz or 1.8GHz Dual Core
RAM: 1-3GB
Hard Drive: 20-50GB (Yes, I realize most dedicated servers don't have drives this small.)
Windows preferable
Remote Desktop Access
30 GB Bandwidth

I plan to use this for running autoclickers and that sort of thing so that I don't need to worry about them on my PC. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! I realize this is an odd request.

Incremental Backup Of CPanel Accounts To A Remote Server

Oct 10, 2007

I want to back-up accounts managed by cPanel/WebHostManager to a remote server. I want to be able to restore to any of the last 7 days. I believe doing an incremental back-up each night can accomplish this best, saving both bandwidth and disk space on the remote server.

Using the back-up functionality built into WHM is appealing because WHM knows what files need to be backed up to do a full restore. However, WHM can't do exactly what I'm looking for either. I've been looking into using rsync as described in this document:

[url]

It looks becaue of the "hard link" capabilities of linux, rsync can be used to create what functions like a full back-up every night but requires a full backup the first day and then each day after that only the incremental changes have to be transfered. However, because I don't know what directories need to be backed up, I'm not sure how to implement an rsyc solution either. (BTW, I want to back-up everything necessary to be able to restore each account except the log files. So, that means MySQL, mail, config info, and whatever the user has uploaded)

I'm trying to run freenx and tightvnc. I can't get freenx working, so I moved on to try to install tightvnc. I installed the Fedora rpm on my CentOs box. Everything installed.

1. Qmail

2. Courier POP/IMAP

3. Horde Webmail client

providers who install the vpopmail in the our server and configure these four packages to create the mail accounts via php script. So that we can use vaddsuer command in php to create the mail ids and also imap_open commands to access the mails.

We will take the decision sooner since we need to live the website shortly.

Our server is configured by plesk control panel.

New Server Without OS (Remote FTP Backup Server)

Jul 8, 2007

I just purchased a new server with 4 hotswap HDD of 250GB each and reload with new CentOS 5 without any host control panel.

The purpose is to backup all my other Cpanel servers data remotely. All my Cpanel servers are fully managed servers. This is the first time i'm going to do all things by myself, so I'm really a newbie. Please don't advise me to hire a server admin because I end up learning nothing I need to learn..

1. My first step now is to secure & harden the server.

- Can anyone mind to share with me valueable knowledge of basic server security & hardening? I was also thinking to use sudo root password which my serveradmin actually did but I don't know how. But su - access level would be OK too.

- I also need to install firewall and close all kind of port and block all SSH connection from all kind of IP except my server & my own IP address only. Can anyone provide me a guide?

2. Secondly what I need is to install FTPd and create user for each hard drive with 2 directory inside.
/sda/server1/
/sda/server2/
/sdb/server3/
/sdb/server4/
/sdc/server5/ (reserved for future server)
/sdc/server6/ (reserved for future server)
/sdd/server7/ (reserved for future server)
/sdd/server8/ (reserved for future server)

Does anyone knows where to find documentation how do install ftpd and how to setup user pointed to the specific directory.

Plesk 11.x / Linux :: DDOS Or High CPU Load Dedicated CentOS Server

May 12, 2014

I have been trying to identify why mi server has high load cpu, suddenly CPU load suddenly jumps, from 1 to 40 and until 110

If I restart mysqld and apache, the cpu gets back to normal, until this happen again

My server is
GenuineIntel, Intel(R)Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz
VersionParallels Plesk Panel v11.0.9_build110120608.16 os_CentOS 6
CentOS 6.4 (Final)
CentOS 6 x64 Processor: Intel Core i5 - 3.10 GH

I already installed FAIL2BAN and DDOS DEFLATE without lock. I have CloudFlare Enabled.

When there is a high CPU load, I have checked netstats, and I don't identify many ips connected, so I think it could be an internet script (or virus).

I will paste the result of
ps fax
command, in a moment of high cpu load

Remote Installs Of CentOS

My real need is to be able to do this remotely if and when I can't have someone onsite do this to help speed up turning up a server where a client has cancelled, and we are reinstalling CentOS to turn up to new client.

I'm almost certain there is no quick and easy way to do a OS reinstall remotely without utilizing something like NOCmonkey, correct?

I do have KVM/IP so I was curious if there is a way remotely to do this that is possible because of the KVM/IP?

Offsite Backup Of Dedicated Server

Sep 13, 2008

I have a managed dedicated server at a co-location. While the service I pay for runs the Cpanel backup function, I feel I need to provide a better service to my customers by creating an exact duplicate(image) of the drive itself. I don’t want my customers to lose their databases and web site information.

I need help with creating a Plan B. The plan I thought might work, would be to get a workstation, download Acronis and make an image of my dedicated server on a scheduled basis.

The reasons I thought this was a good idea:

1) I would have the image in my hands(my control), should something happen to my main hosting server.

2) It would create a complete off-site back-up.

3) It seemed cost effective.

What if Scenario:

So my main hosting server gets taken away in a hurricane and the data center will not be up and running for 3 months. I have an image of the hard disk, now what do I do with it?
