I signed up for a reseller account about 2 weeks ago and i have to say it has been my worst online experience ever.
I purchased a reseller account for around $16. I paid instantly using paypal.
First problem:i didnt receive my account details. So i opened a support ticket and i got a reply not too long after.
Second Problem: I was billed again for the first month!
I contacted them. Waited for a reply, but nothing. So i opened a paypal dispute... sure enough i got then finally got a reply. They said it was a billing mistake since everything is automated.
Fair enough i thought, can you know refund the money?
I was told i would have to close the paypal dispute first. so i foolishly did. I replied again notifying them i had closed the dispute and asked them to begin my site transfer.
They replied and said that "Aimee" would issue a refund in a few hours and to provide ftp details so they could transfer site.
So i gave them my ftp details from my old host.
2 Days Pass: I contact them again asking for a update on the refund and transfer. They reply saying they cannot transfer file since it is 8GB. they tell me i have to upload it myself...and i notice no mention of the refund.
Next Day: i check to see if my domain name has been redirected, and i realize my iwhic account has been suspended. I contact them again asking simply to refund my money. I then try to open the paypal dispute again but failed since i had closed it once.
After contacting paypal and emailing iwhic, i finally receive a response. i get $15.99 refunded. but i ask them when i will receive the rest of my money...no reply.
since then i have tried opening support tickets and i have tried emailing a few of the address i found on some forums. They are never on their live chat.
so much for "24x7 Support"
I wouldnt usually post these things on forums but i am hoping i will finally receive a reply. All i want is my money back.
I have 100+ sites on this hard drive, and one site in particular that meant the world to me.
My host sent the drive to Gillware first, but they failed saying that the file system was so severely damaged that they could not recover anything.
Then shortly after, my host sent it to DriveSavers, a very well-known company, but they also FAILED.
I'm extremely depressed because of this. Please don't post if you're going to say "make sure you do backups next time" because I've heard it 504329504395 times now, and while I do realize my mistake, saying that does NOT help me.
I am willing to spend ALOT to get my sites back. I still have hope. Are there any other companies out there BETTER than DriveSavers? Assuming that you'd still have hope even after two companies failed, where you would you go or what would you do?
How can I find the data transfer rate on the server. I have done ifconfig -a , it display the amout of data has been received and transfered. I want to see the live data transfer date. Can I able to check it?
My host just recently sent the hard drive with my sites to a data recovery company called Gillware. Website is [url]- but they failed and gave the following reason:

The hard drive is now being shipped to a more well known company, Drive Savers - [url]and I'm guessing that this is the last hope, because the more the drive gets tampered with, the more chance of permanent data loss.
So yeah.. I was just wondering what you think? If the file system is so severely damaged, do you think it STILL can be recovered?
I need more space so i requested another hdd but they said that the server can only have 2 hdd's.They told me that i can upgrade to a 250gb hdd.(1x160gb,1x250gb).
BUT HOW will the data from the one hdd will be transfered to the other 250gb hdd?
What is the best way to handle prevent data loss in the event a hard drive goes bad in a server. We have never had one go yet but I can only imagine what a server load of domains suddenly losing their databases or sites. (giving that they didn't back their stuff up).
I know one was is a RAID setup. I just wanted to hear more.
What about if you need to move everyone from one server to another due to major upgrades? Like adding more hdd space.
I have a dedicated linux server that is using plesk, I need to make a complete copy of all the files (4GB) to my local pc, if I use FTP it will take days to download, if I use the plesk backup tool it will backup to a file that my pc cant read/open. Is there an easy way (I have no experience in systems admin) that I could compress all the files on the server to a .tar,.rar or .zip file and then just download that one complete file to my pc?
who you have used in the past to recover damanged hard drives that have been dropped. I got a client that damanged his HD, and it needs to be sent out to someone who is reliable is not gonna cheat and steal the data.
I'm trying to move data from my old server to new server, using WHM, now thing is while moving it just uses all IP on the system and when there are 0 IP's free, it says copying failed, How to make all accounts goon just 1 IP?
Can anyone recommend hosting provider (dedicated or VPS) that has a strong and clear policy with respect to data on the the server?
We currently have accounts with Liquidweb and ThePlanet. Their policies are fine as far as they go, but they seem focused on things credit card info used to purchase service, and tracking of activity on their web sites.
That's all very nice, but I am worried about data stored on our servers, etc. I need to be sure that they won't turn over information to 3rd parties without our consent or being compelled by a subpoena, warrant or court order, and I want to be sure that any data center they rent space in won't do the same.
if someone have for mistake cancelled a cpanel account and in the same dir was the backup file of this account, should be possible to recovery at least the backup file from the deleted files? Or the entire dir cancelled?
Switch And Data, a provider of network neutral data centers and colocation services, just had an IPO yesterday. They filed to sell about 1/3 of their shares priced at the high end ($17). I was wondering if anyone here had personal experience with the company, and could offer some insight on how they stack up versus Equinix and other competitors.

Equinix has been up a lot this year and has a huge market cap of 2.3Bil ($80/share), with revenues of 269Mil, gross profit 63.7Mil, net income -49Mil.
I calculated Switch And Data has around 35.9 million total shares, which puts its current market cap at around 720Mil ($20/share). I couldn't find any 2006 numbers, but in 2005 they had 105Mil revenues and -11.3Mil net income.
How comparable are these two companies? Does SDXC deserve to trade at a comparable level to EQIX? What do the experts at WHT think?
There is a software ' Web Sql administrator ' which is for modifying sql dbs through web interface no doubt it is good one.. But does anyone know any other Free web sql administrator software?
It seems that the data is not caching beyond the execution of the file with apc_store in it. How to fix this? Or am I misunderstanding the way data caching works in APC? May be a silly question but I'm working with this for the first time and would appreciate help.

Recently, we expanded our space with Switch and Data. They didn't have any cabinets physically next to our current ones, so they offered us cross-connects with an NRC only (no MRC) between our own existing space and the new. (Of course I didn't get this on the same 1-year contract as everything else.) After a few months, I noticed they've been billing us for them, so I contact our rep. Apparently she "wasn't authorized" to do that, so after some heated emails they're removing the charges to date and charging us the MRCs moving forward. It's over $7K a year for the two.
They also upped their minimum labor charge, so it now cost $175 to have them sign for a FedEx or have any other minimal amount of work done. We have an on-site employee who manages our equipment, but obviously he won't sit there waiting for UPS/FedEx a few times a month. Two instances last month there were employees on site and it cost an hour of labor for them to physically walk two packages onto the data center floor from the front office.
While installing another cross-connect recently, they knocked our patch panel just enough to disconnect a fiber. They charged us for the two hours it took to debug and rectify the issue. The on-site techs assertion was that it must have been "loose" to begin with - of course it worked fine for 6 months prior. You would think a sales person would side with you in a case like this, but they wouldn't budge.
They must be really keen on driving away customers. What really sucks is the connectivity available at their facilities is so amazing. I would brush it off as the cost of doing business if they were up front on all these things, but they aren't.
I created a backup script to backup data to a separate drive using Robocopy. I used the /mir switch without knowing that it purges all the files and folders which are not present in the source directory. How do I recover the lost data? I tried using EasyRecovery professional, but it could not retrieve the deleted data.
