Feb 12, 2008I am running my VPS on direct admin panel, my disk space is going low, so i am deleting few junk / log files
Kindly let me know
1) is it safe to delete data of this directory -
/var/log/httpd/domains
The File names in above directory are such as - " domain.com.bytes "
As it is occupying 600 MB space
2) where can i delete much junk / temp files, to free up space.

Oct 10, 2007In one folder, I have thousand of files, and I want to delete 100 specific files. Saying specific files, I mean all of them has a keyword. So, I can find out all of them by using
grep "keyword" *
but dont know how to delete all of them. Not deleting one by one.

Aug 20, 2007I'm having a problem with one of my users on my box. For some reason they cannot delete files or change permissions and sometimes while uploading, it says the server has reset.
I haven't had any issues myself but what could be causing this?

FEDORA 4 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0
My /var partition is over 64% full. 2 directories in there show a lot of space being used.
One of these is /var/lib/mysql
du -h --max-depth=1 #
shows user accounts on the server with their database names. Are these just logs, or are they the actual databases? (Probably dumb newbie question)
The other big one is /var/log/munin Is there anything there I can delete?

Can't Delete Files From CPanel Server
May 11, 2007I've been using CPanel for a few years now and I've encountered an error that I have no clue how to fix it. Basically the files have been with me for the last two or three years and I've changed them from server to server. I'd say these files have been through about four or five servers. The funny thing is I can't delete any of these files. The files are in a folder under public_html and I can't delete the folder or any of the files or folders inside of that folder. I've tried through FTP and through CPanel.
The FTP error I get (I'm using WS_FTP Pro) is:

The CPanel error I get (through File Manager) is:
[a fatal error or timeout occurred while processing this directive]
and under the trash can in File Manager:
Unable to change directory to /home/mydirectory/.trash! You do not seem to have access permissions! (System Error: Permission denied)
I even CHMODed all of the files to 777. I don't know how to get rid of these old files, how do I do it? I also have root to the server if that helps.

Jun 20, 2013I had a Problem with my FTP-Backup space, so PLESK couldn't do the daily backups that I configured. The problem with the ftp backup is solved. The backups are running again but there are still many large temporary files in a plesk folder.
Can I just delete them, or is this a bad idea?

Apr 21, 2013I have noticed that i never install any program on my Server and my files of Web only 5 GB and Windows take 15 GB (My Hard Disk Usage 30 GB). Now my disk space available 1.7 GB. But when i go to check in the Recycler folder. There many files are taking up huge amounts of space, some are in excess of 10 GB . So could i deleting these files? Aug 30, 2014I cannot seem to find a conclusive answer to this. I use subdomains to create client websites then once they are in their own domains the subdomains still remain. Can I delete only the subdomain and leave all the files or at least leave the database since it is still connected to the new domain. Example below.
subdomain.example.com uses database1
newsite.com still uses database1
Is there a way to copy the database into the new domain?
How NOT To Require CHMOD 755 Permissions To Create, Write And Delete Files On Linux
Dec 30, 2008On my previous server and on some other hosts, I was able to write to files (for example with PHP) without having to chmod the files first.
Now I cannot, and files are required to be chmoded properly so I can write to them.
I cannot even touch() a file with PHP.
Is there any way to have this permissions removed?
I don't want to chmod the all thing, all I want is to change the configurations so I can fwrite() or file_put_contents() normally.
I's a dedicated un-managed server, so basically any advanced configurations can be done.

Sep 2, 2013I think the wrong text is displayed for the option "Remove Domain Alias".
In Plesk 11.5.30 Update #13, in a Webspace, on the Websites & Domains tab, if I click an alias, a window appears for the alias with the option to "Remove Domain Alias". If I move the cursor over the text "Remove Domain Alias", or click on the link, I see a pop-up: Removing this website will also delete all related files, directories, and web applications from the server.
I think this is incorrect because removing an alias should not remove any files, directories, and web applications.
Plesk 12.x / Linux :: 413 Request Entity Too Large - Can't Upload Backup Files With Backup Manager
Sep 17, 2014I have a 6GB backup file created with another Plesk Backup Manager, now I trying to upload this backup file to my Plesk Backup Manager but after upload 3% I am getting "413 Request Entity Too Large" error, I tried with disable NGINX but still getting this error.
how can I resolve this error or is their any other way to upload my file on backup manager?
I see that Backup Manager have a file size restriction of 2GB how can I increase this?
Webhost With FTP Accounts That Cannot Overwrite Files
Feb 25, 2009I need a webhost (Linux preferably) with some fairly specific FTP account requirements.
I am going to need to be able to create an FTP account that multiple users can log on at once and they can upload files but NOT overwrite files of the same name. Can this be done? Anyone know of a host with these options?
This is for a program I'm working on where users make images and they upload them to the web. I don't want to use HTTP uploading because I don't know how to script it when FTP is easier for me. I wouldn't want people to learn the filenames of images and upload images with the exact same name to delete people's files.
Auto-upload Updates/files To Multiple Accounts
Oct 29, 2009We're managing a CMS script which we offer as a hosted solution / leased script. This means we have several accounts on our server, one pr. client/script user. They all run the same script software and occasionally we have to upgrade the script on these sites. Until now this is being done manually.
Connect with FTP -> upload new files -> Done.
This is very easy work but takes annoyingly much time due to FTP needing to set up connections, switching accounts, etc.. and if you have 100s or 1000s of accounts this becomes...yes...you know..
The question is now, how can this be done easier? I was hoping that it would be possible to do this automated somehow (we have root access to our server).
CPanel Reseller Backup With Sub-accounts

Q1: If I do full backup from reseller's cpanel, will it backup all accounts that I see from drop down menu? Or should I login each account to backup one by one?
Q2: If I can backup all by backing up reseller's cpanel, can I restore all accounts by restoring reseller's cpanel from new server?
