well now my server load is back to normal i.e 1 - 2
but i want to increase the maxclients limit in my httpd.conf..
when i did 312 and restarted it, it says the max is 256.. so how do i increase the limit
i have a vps with 384mb ram,20Gb space and two sites hosted but everthing is down. on Qos alerts i have many yellow and black zone.
For the traffic statistics i see just a little gb a day and 1300-1500 visitors daily.
The support staff answer my ticket that the server work with a high tcp connections to my vps and this cause the down stats of all my website.

How can i increase the numproc, tcprcvbuf and all parameters that give fails.
I am trying to increase the PHP memory limit for all Plesk hosted sites.
I've updated the 'memory_limit' setting in /etc/php.ini
Then I ran
Code:
/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/httpdmng --reconfigure-all
/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/httpdmng --reconfigure-server
Checking a phpinfo() page on hosted sites I see that this setting has not been effective.
Checking some /var/www/vhosts/system/domain.com/etc/php.ini also shows the old setting, and I can see that these files have not been updated.
I note that all these domain php.ini files have been modified earlier today, all at the same time, so presumably some process did regenerate them earlier. All these files hae the "DO NOT MODIFY ..." heading
I realise that I can go the the domain in Plesk GUI and save the PHP settings to force an update, but is there anyway to force the regeneration of all of these files via CLI?
My sites have been receiving a little more traffic these days (but not too much) and it seems my vps is slowing and at times vbulletin/wordpress page doesn't loads or loads a bit sluggishly (refreshing the page gets rids of not loading issue but not sluggishness).
So I logged into Virtozzo and saw the following QOS alerts:

My Cpanel VPS has around 384MB of dedicated ram and around 896Mb of burst Ram. At any given time, there is at least 150Mb of free dedicated RAM. So based on this, are these values correct or they need to be changed or do I need to look for something else which might be causing this problem?
I don't run Spamassassin
If you check out [url], you can see that its not running super fast. The load is nothing, iostat, vmstat, etc don't show anything out of the ordinary. Is there anything else I can do to see what might be causing it? Am I just in need of some good mysql optimization?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having the oddest issue. For some reason, some of the websites on my server load fine, and some take a really long time to load (2 minutes).
Now, the server load is fine, and the size of the sites aren't the issue either. I've restarted Apache and a couple more services, and still the same sites seem to load very slow.
What could be causing this since it's only effecting certain websites?
im using apache2, and in apache config i set maxclients value is 60.
it mean, my vps will accept only 60 clients at the same time. And when vps have more than 60 clients, all clients over are locked out till my vps have less than 60 connections.
But when my vps had more than 60 clients, apache is crash, ram is not full, and i must restart apache.
i want to larger the "MaxClients",
i add the MaxClients 1000 in the httpd/conf/httpd.conf and restart the httpd
but it looks likely not work at all,
what should i do else?
my apache is version 2
Noticed that our http.conf file only contains MaxClients but not HardServerLimit. Is it because we are running an older version of Apache where the server limit has to be compiled with that set? We are running: 1.3.37
Our management server has set MaxClients to 2000 and it seems to work. Have been doing lots of reading and this number may cause issues when the server spikes in traffic. Most users recommend a number below 500.
I am using Plesk 12 / Ubuntu 14.04
In PLESK 11 I could set maxclients, ServerLimit ..... in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf
But I cannot find these settings in apache2.conf.
Where to configure these settings, in which file?
I`m on VPS 768Ram WHM/Cpanel
when i check error log on apache i see that error around 5 times daily.
[error] server reached MaxClients setting, consider raising the MaxClients setting
the apache restart automatically (~3 second). and that the problem when user make downloading all connections CUT.
my httpd.conf
maxclients 150
maxrequestperchild 0
i can increase maxclients no problem but i don`t know if i need to do something else or not.
Is there any way to LIMIT connection ( if server get more than 256 connection it says SERVER BUSY and doesn`t accept any connection )
Since I upgraded to apache2.2 I dont seem to be able to find the "MaxClients" setting in httpd.conf.
I spent some time on google and aparently this has been taken out because apache2 is multi-threaded. What I do know is no more than about 250 people can connect to my server.
I am using prefork MPM in apache because we are running php which is not thread safe.
I have a ServerLimit of 500 and a MaxClients/MaxSpareServers set at 500. However, the server seems to be stuck at 352 processes.
Any ideas of why that may be?
I am using apache 2.2 webserver and tomcat 6 as app server.
I have two unix boxes (let say A and B) where apache is installed for load balancing purpose.
The issue is now and then I see that on both the server reaches to 250 busy servers which makes my site very slow and after some time the site is unaccessible.
When I see this I restart apache on both unix boxes and also restart my app server.
But that does not work. As soon as I start apache the httpd process ramps up to 12 (ps -ef | grep httpd) within a minute and the busy servers still remains at 250.
The only I have to do is wait and watch till the busy servers goes down to 250 and then site is back to normal.
Some times it takes hours for busy servers to go down below 250.
I dont understand that why even restarting apache and tomcat doesn't work. why the busy servers are still at 250. even after I restart.
This is what I have in httpd.conf
<IfModule worker.c>
ServerLimit 80
StartServers 2
MaxClients 250
MinSpareThreads 25
MaxSpareThreads 75
ThreadsPerChild 25
MaxRequestsPerChild 0
</IfModule>
I tried to increase MaxClients to 300, which also didn't work and apache or httpd process shuts down by itself.
I've got 25 domains on a Virtuozzo/Plesk8.6/CentOS5 VPS. Each domain has one up-to-date install of WordPress, most have very little traffic (average 200mb per month), maybe 2 domains get 5-7gb traffic per month.
I monitor port 80 connections and rarely see more than 10 at a time.
That should in my opinion be no problem at all for a VPS with 768mb guaranteed ram and 2.4ghz cpu. I've got 30gb hard drive spare too.
But.... about 8 or 10 times a day it grinds to a complete halt: server load at 500-1000%, sites timing out, plesk takes 3mins to load, often I can't even connect with SSH, and the plesk web server, apache
INSERT INTO module_watchdog_sys_stat (time, type, value, service_id) VALUES(FROM_UNIXTIME(1226404705), 'MAINMEM_USAGE', 17472, 11);
80 seconds sounds like a huge amount of time for a MySQL insert to me! Does anyone know if this is likely to be the cause of my trouble? Some problem with Plesk and the database? Or could it be something else?

View 5 Replies View RelatedJust received this from cPanel... it is a substantial price increase (33%). Should be fun explaining to customers why they will start to be billed more...
Earlier this year we released cPanel VPS Optimized as part of our ongoing effort to provide quality web hosting automation software. You can learn more about this optimization of our software for VPS environments on our website at:
http://www.cpanel.net/products/cpvps/
In order to provide optimized software and ensure continuous updates for your virtual server customers, effective September 1, 2008 the monthly pricing for all internal virtual server licenses will be increased by $2 per license.
This price increase is for virtual server licensing only and will not affect your dedicated server license pricing.

I'm considering upgrading our company's server. We run an ecommerce site php/mysql based, we have about 12,000 visitors per day and we use up about 1500 gig per month. Simple ecommerce site, nothing fancy. We had some complains from people that our site is "slow" (despite it running smoothly for us, but these people claimed that only our site was "slow" and that they use fast connections) so that's why now I'm thinking maybe its time to upgrade.
We are using softlayer, for an extra $50 per month they recommended that we upgrade from our Opteron 1216 to "Xeon 3220 - 2.40GHz (Kentsfield) - 2 x 4MB cache"
Are we going to see a serious increase in performance? Will the increase be enough that most visitors will actually be able to feel it?
Anyone else see an influx of fraudulent CC orders with all valid information? Even the IP of these orders matches or comes close to matching the address. What's in common is that email correspondence reveals Asia-based IP addresses and the phone number never checks out.
Could this be due to the recent Network Solutions breach? I've never seen so many fraudulent orders with nearly everything checking out.
I use a VPS with CentOS and LX-Admin. My VPS run only 1 forum phpbb3.0.2 and nothing else.
3 days ago, disk used was 2.6GB, yesterday disk used was 2.7BG and to day disk used is 2.8GB ...
I wonder why disk used of my VPS increase everyday? It's may be because of cache and log? How to clean unnecessary cache and log?
how can you increase the uptime of your server?

We've been considering getting a cabinet at Level3 in Tampa and the last pricing we got was November 2006. Yesterday I spoke with the rep I'd been dealing with to place the order, and was told that Level3 raised their prices substantially as of January 1st.
The quote we got 2 months ago is now a full 30% higher.
Can anyone confirm whether Level3 really did take a fat increase, or am I being hustled?
I have an increase in bandwidth for one of my site.
Usually, it average around 6 or 7 gigs per month. This month im almost at 10 gig. In awstats, it report that a spcific ip have used 3.49 GB alone and as 128668 pages view and 128668 hits. Last access was 18th of may.
I have done a IP whois, and it appears that this IP belongs to [url], which is an ISP.
Now, im thinking of all types of things. Is my account serving files for someone? hack?
