Single P4 3.0GHz Or Dual Xeon 2.0GHz
Dec 29, 2008What would be preferable configuration for webserver single P4 3.0GHz (533/800MHz) or Dual Xeon 2.0GHz (400MHz).
I have both servers and am contemplating which one to choose.

What is the difference in performance between a Pentium D 3.0GHz and a Intel E6850 3.0GHz performance wise? They both are dual cores and both are 3.0GHz, so shouldn't they perform to the same standards? If they aren't both the same performance wise then what other Dual Core can a Pentium D 3.0GHz be closely compared to?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am in searching of getting a dedicated server and i need to know the difference between a dedi with Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz HT

I would like to know in what ways a Mac server better than conventional LAMP or WAMP servers. Will i be able to install some type of control panels on servers running Mac.
I have some quotes to buy it, but if its performance is better then i will go for it.
Searched the internet but couldn't find enough information. Some names of big websites using mac servers would also be useful information.
I am going to buy a new server and I am unsure of which route to take.
Basically the cost is identical for a Dell server with:
1 AMD Operton Dual Core 2.4Ghz
OR
2 AMD Operton Dual Core 2.0Ghz
What is the felling? Does the 4 cores out weight the extra 400 mhz per processor, but only having 2 cores?
The server will be running:
Windows 2003 Standard x32
Plesk 8.2
IIS 6.0 [ Application Pools Setup ]
MySQL
Microsft SQL Express 2005 [ONLY CAN USE 1 CPU/CORE]
MailEnable
Can my applications even handle/utilize four cores?
price wise I could switch server.
Currently:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6700 @ 2.66GHz
2 core
Ram: 2GB
to:
Harpertown E5405 2.0GHz
4GB
quad core
RAM: 4GB
I'm not sure the quad core runs with 2.0GHZ versus 2.66GHz.
CentOS 32 bit.
all sites currently on the 6700 using mysql, server load in WHM shows ~1 (2).. just full weekly backup pushes it over 4.
Would be nice if somebody could comment.. would be the E5405 with 2.0 GHz faster, worth switching?
i am hosting my site in shared hosting. My totall visitor 5000. All i want to know when i should upgrade from shared to vps 512mb CPU Speed 2.0Ghz? Means how many visitor online i need to upgrade to vps? Please help. My current shared hosting plan include 20gb space and 400gb bandwith. Currently 5000 user using 4 gb space and 120 gb bandwith.

I use it for web hosting, but I am going to need a lot of Mysql use.
I also want to work with Flash Media Server or Red5, but I have the project stopped.
All are almost in the same price. What do you recommend me?
I have never touched Linux and my Server is Windows 2003, do you recommend me to change to Linux?

They are all listed as 10mbit unmetered and they show the following for their providers:

Does it seem about right? I'm new to hosting and just wanted to make sure that it is decent pricing.
Which one is better: Dual Xeon 2.8GHz/HT vs Dual Core Xeon 2.4GHz (3060) for shared hosting with database intensive? Both with 4GB RAM.

can someone give a comparison betwen this two
Intel Quad Core Xeon X3210 vs Dual-Core 3040 Xeon
how would systems compare if they were based ont he followinf chips:
Intel core i7 920
VS
Dual Xeon 5405
Plesk shows my CPU details as below
CPU - INTEL Pentium III (Katmai) EM64T Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 6 ~1995MHz
VPS provider promised Dual core Xeon CPU. Is above CPU a Dual core Xeon?
I understand that the woodcrest is a better processor. Just want people's opinions if it justifies the price.
Here are the configurations we are looking at:
Dual Xeon 3.2 SCSI
2GB of RAM
2 x 73GB SCSI Disk
Cpanel
-----------------------------
$222
or
Dual Intel Woodcrest 5130 Dual Core
4GB of RAM
2 x 146GB, 10K RPM SCSI
cpanel
-----------------------------
$385.00
We host approx 100 sites on a server. 60% are static sites and 40% are ecommerce or sites with a database. Just curious if the performance increase will justify the price on the woodcrest vs the xeon.
Also is $385 a good deal for this setup?
How would processor performace compare assuming the harddrives were the same and the amount of ram was the same? For example, how would a system with older dual xeon 2.4 or 2.8 cpus compare to Intel Core2 Duo E4300 socket 775, 2x 1.8Ghz/1M L2 system?
I am guessing that the Intel Core2 Duo would win, but by how much? I am sure this is hard to compare since ram speeds are different as well, but hopefully someone can make an estimate.

Please help us with some suggestion. Should we upgrade to this Dual Xeon? Is it really a good deal?
Intel Dual Xeon 2.8 - IDE

with cPanel which is $172/month.
There are a lot of changes in the naming convention Duo Core Quad Core, Core2Dual, Core2Quad. I wonder for Dual Core Xeon 3Ghz (which we called previously) would would be its equivalent or better now than is easily found on the market?
View 0 Replies View RelatedI got a Dual Xeon 3.0 GHz EM64T and it's being outperformed by P4 3.2 GHz (24 seconds on a simple PHP benchmark against 17 seconds)
I even tried to run this same benchmark twice (in 2 processes) simultaneus beliving the Dual Xeon would split them in the processors and get faster, but it was 35s against 50s (P4 winning again)
so I can only guess the kernel is not using all the processor power or something like that... may it be the arch used? I'm using FreeBSD 6.1 with 386 arch
(here's the benchmark)
PHP Code:
<?
$a=10000;
$b=10000;
$t1 = time();
for($i=0;$i<10000000;$i++) {
$b = $a + 50;
$b = $b * 15.222;
$a = $b - 7000;
}
echo "
";
echo time() - $t1;
echo "
";
?>
I am thinking of buying new servers and I do not know which option most appropriate for me.
Both configurations are Supermicro servers.
2 x Xeon E5420 "Harpertown" 2,5GHz
24GB FB-DIMM DDR2 ECC
Chipset Intel 5000V
vs
1 x Intel Xeon W3520 "Nehalem" 2,66GHz HT
24GB DDR3 ECC
Chipset Intel 5500
cpu/server question.
will a server with following specs :
Dual Xeon 2.8 Ghz 2 gb ram outperform a AMD x2 5000 with 2 Gb ram for apache processes only say for web proxies only.
Or will a Intel Xeon 3065 2.33GHz Conroe with 2 gig ram outperform both of them.
I need to know as my own proxies are getting lots of hits in range for 1k to 2k at times, and also in return good ads payout rate, so upgrade is the best option i see right now to keep speeds optimum.
how to get the best "bang for my buck" for a dedicated server; I don't have specific requirements, just have training videos (flash) to play on the site, traffic isn't high now but I want to be ready...
Looking at ThePlanet as an example, what do the choices mean:
1) Xeon 3060, vs Dual Xeon, vs Pentium 4
2) IDE Drive, vs SCSI, vs SATA drive
I know I want 2-4 GB Ram, but beyond that, I don't know what components matter and are worth paying for.
Which CPU is better 2 physical CPU of 2.8ghz Xeon vs Single CPU of quad core 6600.
Quad core got more FSB and L2 Cache and less power.
Does anyone have an opinion on the Intel Dual Xeon Quad Core Clovertown versus the AMD Dual Core Dual Opteron? I'm assuming the Xeon is better. I recently put in an order for one, and I'm hoping I made the right decision (Yes I know it would have made more sense to ask before ordering but that's not how I roll) .
