Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Pagespeed Module Compatibility

Mar 16, 2015

Our server setup is like this, wordpress, vtiger crm and ecommerse applications running on plesk 12 , with apache as backend server and nginx as proxy to serve static content. Now plans are to optimize webpages with Google pagespeed module , As per google documentation, module installation on nginx server need to be build from source. Is it recommended to install ngx_pagespeed module by building nginx from source on Plesk server?

FreeBSD Linux Compatibility

Jul 2, 2007

I have some linux binaries that I would like to run on a FreeBSD.

Now I understand that there is a linux compatibility layer to run these programs. If I am correct this is not an emulator, therefore there is no performance lost. Is this correct?

I want to run FreeBSD on an opteron server. There is a AMD64 version of FreeBSD, and there are also AMD64 versions of the binaries I want to run. If possible I would like to run the AMD64 versions in order to get better performance from the Opterons. Will the compatibility layer still work fine, or will it be converting to 32 bit processing, or even just giving an error?

AMD AM2 Motherboard Linux Compatibility

Jul 2, 2007

I have tested the Asus M2N-MX motherboard on CentOS 5, the first 10 worked very well, zero problems and very stable.

My next 10 somehow did not work at all, after speaking to asus techs, I had to stick a 512MB ram module (which does make the motherboard work) and update the bios. Now the 1GB kingston ddr2 modules work fine.

Installed centos, and then to find out that every time the server gets rebooted, ALL eth0 settings are lost. I tested debian on it and same story! The nic is found, but debian is assigning/detecting new MAC's for the nic all the time.

The weird thing is the first batch is working very good!

I have wasted countless hours in trying to get this second batch working with no luck. I am looking to get the gigabyte GA-M61PM-S2 with RTL8211 nic. Anyone who was able to get this one running with centos without any problems?

Plesk 11.x / Linux :: Enabling BCmath Php Module

May 20, 2014

how to enable bcmath in php.

We have a virtual server running Linux CentOS 6 with plesk 11.5 & PHP 5.4.28

So far I have found info here: [URL]

But can't get the commands to work. I'm not great with putty and the commands but learning a little.

I was also hoping that maybe updating PHP to a newer version and using the --enable-bcmath would work but where to start.

We have several websites installed on the server, some with opencart etc installed so I don't want to break the server!

This is what I get so far:

[root@louks ~]# wget rpms.famillecollet.com/enterprise/6/remi/x86_64/php-bcmath-5.4.28-1.el6.remi.x86_64.rpm

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Firewall Module Modified Iptables - FTP Not Working Now

Feb 13, 2015

I temporarily enabled and activated Plesk firewall module (which I wish I didn't the first time) and for some reason it seems to have overwritten the default iptables configuration that was set, leaving my ftp unable to be logged into. I tried to disable the firewall module and reboot the server. It didn't work.

I also noticed that it somehow seem to have changed my hostname to my previous server hostname as well

Is there any way to completely revert back to original iptables settings before enabling the Firewall module?

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Fail2ban Module Fails To Activate Proftpd And Ssh-jail

Mar 4, 2015

I have a brand new Plesk 12 Installation with just a first Subscription/Domain for my test. Enabling fail2ban jails brings me the following error for the jails plesk-proftpd and ssh. All others went on.

error 'f2bmng failed: ERROR No file(s) found for glob /var/log/secure'.

I see that /var/log/secure is missing, althoug I already used ssh and ftp to log in once. I can go to touch the /var/log/secure file or adjust the jail configs to proper log file location? Which is the way to go?

ASUS P5VD2-VM Compatibility

Jan 28, 2007

I have an ASUS P5VD2-VM motherboard here, and i'm pretty sure i've narrowed it down to being the problem. Let me give you some background to start off with..

I've tried installing:
FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE-i386 (with p4 chip), aswell as 6.2
FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE-amd64 (with Pentium D 820), aswell as 6.2
XP Professional SP2 (with p4 chip)

All three installations invoke a hard-reboot (FreeBSD- last thing I see is hard drive information related...XP- Right after the EULA, to continue to hard drive partitioning).

I changed the chip from an Intel Pentium D 820 (dual-core), to a regular Pentium 4 Prescott 3.2GhZ, thinking that the dual core was making FreeBSD go all goofy...apparently that’s not the case.

I'm kind of stumped as of what to do now. It seems to be like either the IDE/SATA controller is cooked, or there is just something wrong with this main board. I tried disconnecting my SATA hard drives, and installing on an IDE hard drive without luck.

Plesk 11.x / Windows :: App Requires Rewrite Web Server Module

May 20, 2014

I have a freshly installed 'Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1' VPS with Plesk 11.5.30.When installing certain applications (for example, Dolphin, Elgg), it halts with the following error message: Requirements: Apache module - The app requires the 'rewrite' web server module

When I check in Windows IIS Manager under Modules, I see RewriteModule is installed as a native module. When checking the KB about this issue: URL..it says to enable the rewrite module by ticking it in the 'Configure native modules' box. However, that module is not even listed there, even though it clearly is listed in the main module overview as a native module.

Also, in Plesk > Tools & Settings > Server Management > Panel Components, URL rewrite is also listed: URL Rewrite [Active] IIS URL Rewrite Module 2 7.2.2

Php As A Module

Aug 14, 2008

I didn't know if it should go in here on in Web Hosting.

One of the prospective hosts I'm looking at for shared hosting uses a phrase I'm not sure about what it means and the sales person I spoke to didn't know, either (and he tried to fudge it, which is worse than admitting you don't know.)

Anyway, one of the phrases used that I haven't seen anywhere else is that they have php5 "as a module" and I'm not sure what is meant by that. Each account is running a stand-alone instance of php? php5 is a module that's installed upon customer request?

Raid5 Module In 2.6.18

Mar 22, 2007

I am trying to configure a 2.6.18 kernel and I cannot get it to read the raid5 module since my system is utilizing a software RAID5.

Whenever I build I receive the following error:

[root@localhost linux-2.6.18.8]# make install
sh /root/kernel/linux-2.6.18.8/arch/x86_64/boot/install.sh 2.6.18 arch/x86_64/boot/bzImage System.map "/boot"
WARNING: No module raid5 found for kernel 2.6.18, continuing anyway

I have tried versions 2.6.18 and 2.6.18.8 and both give me the same issue.

I have CONFIG_MD_RAID456=m in my .config so the module should be getting configured.

I tried ignoring the warning but when I boot up my system in 2.6.18 I get a kernel panic error, could not sync. (I'm guessing because it doesn't have the RAID module). Everything works fine when I boot up in the 2.6.9 CentOS kernel.
