Is 1mbps Enough?

Jan 1, 2008

I have a collocated server that bills by GB. Currently I have 1000GB a month to use, and I use nearly all of it. I will be purchasing a new server, and I'm thinking about sending it to Colo4Dallas over my current provider. How do I figure out if a 1mbps plan will serve my needs?

What Can I Run On A 1Mbps-3Mbps Port

Apr 6, 2009

I have a 1Mbps Upload speed and My download speed is max 24Mbps.

My question was, what can i run with the above mentioned speeds?
I tried running a Game Server but had quite a bit of latency, so i gave up!

What else can i run on such a speed?

I did previously have an ADSL2+ Annex M connection with 3Mbps Upload and 20Mbps Download, it was expensive and useless as i had no use for extra speed, was just experimenting.

New Switch - With Bandwidth Management Down To 1Mbps Increments

Aug 31, 2006

I been looking for a new switch to use, that have few features that ProCurve switches do not have, which is namely the port bandwidth management that I can manage by controlling the bandwidth traffic by Megabit increment. Plus, anti-dos features would be nice as well.

I know that Extreme Networks have that features in 24/48 port 1U factors, but I am looking for feedback from others who knows of other switches that have that feature as well. Your input is appreciated.

Bandwidth :: 95th Percentile Billing, And Paying For 1Mbps?

Jun 3, 2008

I just had a quick question, I have been using dedicated servers for a long time now, and I was just looking to host one of my own 1U servers that I have been using at home, now I had a simple question, but it seems to confuse me on what exactly do I pay at the end of the month.

I have read about the 95th percentile billing, and paying for 1Mbps.

I usually had 1000GB with my servers, simple, easy.

All I need to know is if I get 1Mbps, can I not go over that 1Mbps while backing up files, or hosting a game server? or is it that I have a certain amount of bandwidth because this is really confusing me.
