Sep 24, 2005

I recently found out that the Google robot spidered my site and used up 5.74 GB in bandwidth! The hits were 4498 and I even have it scheduled to return every 2 weeks.

Now my site is down for the rest of the month unless I up my bandwidth. This is the second time this has happened to me in the past year. What is going on?

Will You Shut Down Your Customer's VPS Without Any Prior Notice

Oct 2, 2008

I really do not want to mention the name of the hosting. I have been with them since the beginning of 2007.

My VPS was shut down about 15 hours ago because there might be a problem with the recurring payment. Actually I was informed that the payment has been processed and approved successfully last week. And there is no any email telling me that there is problem with the recurring payment.

I have been asking their support to re-start my VPS first but they said this is the sales issue. It has to be handled by the sales. Just waiting....... waiting..... Very disappoint!

Will you shut down the VPS of your customers without any prior notice?

Data Center In Canada OK For USA Website

Jul 7, 2008

I'm thinking of using a host in Canada for an E-Commerce store targeting USA customers. Does this matter?

Would I get a little more "love" from search engines if the site was hosted in the USA?

What Constitutes A Full Backup Of The Website?

Mar 1, 2009

I am trying to download my website on to my system since i am moving servers. I tried to download the full backup using cpanel but the size of the file is 610 MB and since i have a slow connection, it means me downloading the file the whole night. While i dont mind doing that, the connection has broken thrice (once when i had downloaded 517 MB).

So i have decided to download it bit by bit. I would like to know what files i will have to download...i can think of just two...the public html folder and my database..is that it? or should i be downloading any other files?

I have created a Cpanel full backup of my website. The file is 2.65GB in size, but when I log in with my FTP client, I get a LISTERROR - [filename] and the filename doesn't appear in the directory window.

Can I still use a custom command to download this file?

Using A Website Host For Computer Backup

Apr 23, 2008

If I get a reseller account with like 50 gigs more space (or any amount) than I actually use, can I use some of that space I'm paying for to backup my home computer? This isn't really a question of how (although I'll accept advice) but more a question of 'is this typically allowed' or 'does anybody else do this'?

Website Backup Over Command Line

Nov 7, 2008

We have a dedicated server, with chroot access enabled.

We are wanting to backup each site on this server, as well as all mysql dbs on a weekly basis.

Is it possible for us to run a cron job to do this? If so, what commands would we want to use?

We have a local FTP server here, so would like to ftp these backups this machine.

I know it all sounds a little vague, but I just need to know where to get started.
