how can i deny all of ip instead 2 ip to access to some website?
because these are priv8 website and personal .
i thin that .htaccessis good.
can nany one creat it for me and ist good or use another method?
I have WAMP Setup and configured correctly, and it's working just fine.
I have a DynDNS account and it is pointing to my WAN IP.
For instance if my friends or if I use proxy to load [url]it loads just fine.
But from my own browser when I try accessing [url]it doesn't work.
Is there any way I can fix this issue?
Basically I am trying to use a domain name to point to my pc. And use that domain name to test my website other than using [url]
I m newbie to apache server. I have created a web site using apache server with theURL... tutorial. I m able to access my web site on my ip address bt unable to access it using other ip of linux system. I m CentOS user. I can ping that ip with my ip. I have edited files as described in the tutorial.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been with Future Hosting since April of this year. I originally signed up during a promotion they had here on WebHosting Talk (for their Platinum Unmanaged Cpanel VPS).
My VPS was setup within a couple hours. Their support team was very helpful throughout the entire setup process.
For the months that followed, I had no major problems and everything was running great.
I would rarely experience an outage (in fact the only outages I experienced were due to network upgrades - and upgrades are a good thing). Future Hosting offered to do a free security setup on my VPS (which I thought was excellent - I didn't have to ask them, they asked me).
In the last month, I started to experience some slow downs on the VPS. Sometimes the slow downs were due to high load issues, the SATA hard drives, or a latency issue. I was setup on one of their Dallas servers when this was happening. Future Hosting offered to move my VPS to the Chicago datacenter. I read some posts on here that their Chicago servers are a lot better, so I accepted the offer to move the server. Jim from Future Hosting did the transfer and I was able to transfer all my web sites to the new server with ease. The speed difference moving from Dallas to Chicago was pretty dramatic. They also changed to SA-SCSI drives, and that makes a huge improvement (I believe Chicago and Dallas have the new drives).
In the end, the service at Future Hosting has been excellent. Support is great as well and their technicans are very helpful (especially Jim - great job). I recommend Future Hosting for anyone who wants a VPS. With the amazing prices they offer, and their excellent service, you can't lose.
I am hosting a website that I can access perfectly from most internet connections but not from my college network..
Normally I am asked for a user name and password on my site, normal.
When I am browsing from my college network the page just throws up HTTP error 401.2
From my understanding it means that the server(iis) is setup wrong but I can access it from anywhere else..
I'm trying to allow part of a website to be secure and prompt for a password that can be access by a user/password.
I'm running Win 2003 server and IIS 6.0
I have my website running fine.
This is what I wanted to do. Allow the main page to be accessed by all.
Part of the site needs to be secure and allow access to people only with a password.
I thought I would be able to do this by creating a user with a password on the windows machine just like I have created users with FTP accounts that are logging in and using the FTP service fine.
However, when I limit access to the folders. When I try to access it by internet it comes up with a user/pass box as I thought it would, but when I try to access it with the user/pass for a user that can auth fine for the win FTP service it doesn't accept it.
how I can do this in IIS to allow secure access to part of a site and allow them to auth to login to part of the site only ?
I've seen a number of exploit attemps on the default website which I believe has come via direct access via ip address i.e http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.I have tried to block with .htacess but it seems to be being ignore (possibly by parallels or nginx configuration).how I can block access to the default site to all but 127.0.0.1, server external ip and my ip?
View 19 Replies View RelatedA community website with a forum(phpbb3), not more than 2000 users, less than 50 posts per day and less than 50 users online at the same time, will be ok to host under a shared account?
If the bandwith is lower than the limit, is it possible to use many resources and get susbended?
I run a shared hosting
OS:centos with whm/cpanel
and would like to restrict access to mysql database
example:
username:user1 created database:user1_db1,user1_db2 etc..
and can only access his own databases
so user2 can't access user1_db1.db2 etc.. and user1 can't access user2_db1,db2 etc..
Actually I make backup in 1 ftp account, also I have another ftp account what I don't use it. Do you know how to copy files directly from 1 ftp account to another one?
1 ftp account it's with bqbackup.com
1 ftp account it's with another backup provider
any of them have ssh access, so I'm looking to something like copy-at-the-fly ftp? without downloading all first to another server?
I have a few domains that I recently migrated to cPanel.
I created a 2 ftp accounts on one domain and (example bill@site.com and john@site.com), both accounts can be accesed using ftp clients, and also from Opera browser with this info:
ftp://site.com:21/ or ftp://server-ip:21/ - username bill@site.com or john@site.com and passwords.
But, this accounts can not be accessed using Internet Explorer, and my customer only uses IE , the error I recieve is something like this:
Code:
FTP Directory Error
Windows does not have access to that folder. Make sure the name of the directory was written ok and you have permission to access that directory.
Details:
The connection with the server was reset
I already tried restarting pure-ftpd, flushing the firewall rules, and there problem stills..
Im using RHES 4 + lastest kernel 2.6 and the latest release version.
Is it safe to run your website and WHMCS on the same account or site?
Say for example I was running Joomla and WHMCS on the same account. If ever a vulnerability in Joomla was found which allowed hackers to view, edit, or download files on the account, this could mean whmcs getting hacked into. End result would be all account information being stolen or worse all the account being deleted or hacked.
I want to create a special FTP account as such:
- The user would only be able to view and upload to one directory, such as mysite.com/images/
- The user would only be able to upload .jpg files, no code/php/html or anything, just jpg pictures.
- There would be a limit of upload. (ie. only 50 MB of upload per day)
- The user would only be able to delete the files that he uploaded. (or the user would only be able to view the files he uploaded)
I have an account on an older server. Its plesk.
But now that I pointed the domain I can no longer access the old server from the web.
So this is my shared ip:
66.235.201.136
Now there are about 10 domains on the IP.
what would my URL look like to access one of those accounts in plesk in the browser?
66.235.201.136/~rgratitu
I've tried the above and it doesn't work.
I am moving hosts and my old host is unable to backup my current site and give me a single tar or zip
file of my websites (They do not use cpannel)
The only access I have to them is var ftp and there custom control pannel, I have been backuing up.
My new cpanel host has given me SHH access and I was trying to
run a ftpsync a perl based script to sync a site but it times out "421 No Transfer Timeout (900 seconds)"
At the moment I am backing up the site to my local pc but it has been running for the last 12 hours, All the sites only total about 350mb but they are made up of lots of small files and I think that this is the reason why it is taking so long.
I wanted to know if any one had any other ideas as I am a little bit worried that I might lose some data that is why I would like to some how backup my old host direct to my new host.
any idea if search engines have access to our hosting account and can see which country the files are uploaded?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI finally bit the bullet and signed up for a VPS after my many years of dedicated hosting I signed up on Friday, and since I have had nothing but problems. Not sure if cPanel caused some trouble with apache, but apache wouldn't start, I think there were compile errors, as a httpd directory wasn't created and for some strange reason I had a httpd.old directory instead. I noticed something was wrong when i couldn't add accounts to cpanel..
After a recompiling httpd (apache) this was fixed. Then for some reason I couldn't upgrade the php version, it was on 4.6 and I need 5.x.. Its now Sunday. .php files are offered as downloads (not being passed through apache). I've asked many times to have the VPS rebuilt, as it seems to be one problem after another, but support seem to ignore my request and instead attempt to patch a fix.
I usually don't write these type of reviews, but I just needed to vent.
Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come, hopefully they blow away my VPS and reinstall a new one from scratch. and hopefully no one else is going through this..
My Dedicated server runs out on the 30th, so I now have 10 days to fully set up my VPS. I hope that Futurehosting, pulls their finger out and just reinstalls the VPS , as there seems to be one challenge after another.
Just had to say, that futurehosting's support is top notch.
