I'm in the process of updating a big account from one platform to another, and I thought of using a test site before.
What's the easiest way to replicate an account using a different domain with cPanel/WHM?
I have 2 Cpanel VPS and a Cpanel reseller account, each of them with different providers.
What I would like to do is replicate my company's website, billing and support sites across the 3 locations, for achieving a fail over configuration.
Is there no possible way I can slave just a few tables in mysql? instead of slaving the entire table on the main database server.

Now I manually park it on top of parked.myhost.com so that everybody who visits this domain will see the custom "Hosted with"-page. But there has to be an easier way/automatic way to do this? I have following problem-i have over 20 sites on server and each site has own database.Is there a way to speed up backup and transfer or other server?
Method which i use right now it's following:first i archive entire directory using command tar -pczf name.tar.gz public_html,and then repeat with each directory.But i think i could simply archive all requied directories,but that will took toomuch time,so if i drop connection during archiving it wont be archived at all then.So i think best solution will be to create some kind of batch command which can load in background,so that means command wont stop if client lost connection.
So let's say i have 2 sites and two directories located and different places.
One is at home/site1 and other at home/site2
So i think i would need to put command into batch file
tar -pczf site.tar.gz. /home/site1 and tar -pczf site2.tar.gz /home/site2
Will that work? Also second part,mysql databases,i founded if i login into phpmyadmin as root i can see all databases.I managed to export all databases,but question will import again to phpmyadmin work.I think phpmyadmin create command for each database "if there is no db sitename_mysqlbase,create it",but howmuch i know phpmyadmin have limit with importing size of mysql database.Could that be done with import/export mysql command?
I'm doing some research on offering VPS hosting solutions, nothing firm yet as do we start to offer them or not.
So, what are you experiences for as automated as possible VPS hosting offering? Using multiple servers as VPS hosts etc. ready made images etc.
Or am i better of by doing custom tailored my own?
The basic plan is to offer as automated as possible, with minimal support overhead etc. using 2co/paypal/moneybookers subscriptions etc. basicly as simple, and yet as powerfull as possible. Sounds like custom tailored system is the best option.
How about just the server backend only automation wise?
I've got two domains (for sake of example, domain A and domain B). Domain A resolves correctly to my web server. Domain B is just sitting collecting dust. I didn't set these domains up, a previous programmer at my job did.
How do I configure resolv.conf, named.conf and the zone file(s) correctly to have domain B redirect to domain A?
I've already set up httpd.conf so that any requests for the host name of domain A will redirect.
e.g. [url]-> [url]
I just need the DNS part of this fixed (that I'm a bit of a noob at).
Do I have to do something like this in named.conf:

file "/var/named/domaina.com.hosts";
};
zone "domainb.com" {
type master;
file "/var/named/domaina.com.hosts";
};
Then in the domaina.com.hosts zone file add an alias like this?

After some experimenting with Linux VPS setups, I'm eager to explore windows VPS software.
Two questions I guess, first off, what is the cheapest method of offering multiple VPS accounts on a windows server? Are there any free or build in Microsoft methods?
Second, what is the easiest way of doing so? (Simple setup, as hands off as possible)
I realize the cheapest may not be the easiest and vice versa. I'm downloading Parrallels Virtuozzo trial right now, but would like to learn what else is out there.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a dedicated server with whm/cPanel centos 5, however I have an issue with retrieving files between 2 cpanel accounts.
One account is an ssl site [url]and the other cpanel account is [url]
Now, the manager since it's on seperate account can't get the files and media stored locally on the other account due to account permissions.
Does anyone know how to hack whm/cpanel to give an account access to another folder in the home directory? I don't really want to give it full root access in case the account gets hacked.
I own a dedicated server and have 3 cpanel for each of my 3 sites in my WHM, I was wondering how much resource would each cpanel account use?
Reason I'm asking is because I have a couple of other sites i'd like to add to this server but I'm not sure if I should simply add them as domain add-on's in one of my current cpanel accounts or if it's ok to create another for each site without using up my server's resources.

I have created many addon domains in my cpanel account.
I have 2 websites which require SSL certificates and hence they will have dedicated ip each (i.e. total 2).
But is it possible to assign 1 dedicated ip to my cpanel account website and another
dedicated ip to the addon domain website.
Is it possible. I feel that it is not possible.
Also can't my 2 websites with separate SSL certificates share the same Dedicated IP of my

For some reason, on some of my servers I've got this error when transferring account under WHM:
The remote server didn't report a correct md5sum of the archive. Please ensure you selected the correct type of remote server.

I want to make sure cause there is an existing website on that account.

I have a new dedicated server, and I want to transfer multiple accounts from a reseller package I have with a third party to the new server.
I only have SSH access on the dedicated server so I can't use the Multiple Account Transfer feature of WHM, only the single account transfer feature.
Is there anyway I can transfer multiple accounts without SSH access?
Another question - how can I mass change the MX records of accounts once they are transferred over?
I'm trying another cpanel hosting service in addition to one with which I have a main domain and a bunch of addons. I'm used to being able to create the addon accounts regardless of whether I've already changed the ns for the domains being added yet. In the new service I'm trying, I am unable to to do that, but instead get an error message which appears online in various forum posts:

With the hosting service where I can always create the accounts any time, I use a secure login that contains my account ip: [url] I will only do secure logins, and not any unsecure http logins. The other hosting service where I am unable to create the addons does not appear to have that available for my normal account url or ip, at least it doesn't work when I've tried, but after searching I found out that you can get a secure login in another way, so I am able to securely log into my account using [url] but this is not the same as my account's IP or the normal shorter url for my regular unsecure login. I would guess that's the significant difference which allows me to create accounts any time in the first account vs. not at all in the second - that I'm using my account's normal ip for the one, but the longer-than-normal secure urls for the other (?), although I don't fully know how that would work.
There is however, one significant difference in the second account which I do not have in the first, and that is that I have SSH access in the second account. So, I am wondering if there is a simple method for using that SSH access to change a setting in my second account in such a way that I can have the same freedom to create addons there first and then attend to ns changes and so forth later when I'm ready? Especially is there a way to do this only once for the whole account, instead of having to do it for each and every addon? Thanks in advance to those who might really know the score on all this stuff and exactly what the best solution or solutions are.
Our domain is hosted with a cPanel based shared hosting company only for website.
We have an Exchange 2003 server that is assigned with two dedicated IP's provided by our ISP with rDNS configured. So all outgoing emails are send using these two ISP lines and all works fine.
Since we are going to change the ISP, and the new ISP is refusing to set rDNS we are going to use our cPanel based shared hosting account to send our mails - so we will be configuring our Exhcnage 2003 to [smarthost] to forward all the emails to the hosting server.
I need to what I have to do in the cPanel account to make this work.
I have modied the domain name from WHM and now email accounts with the old domain name shows up and I am unable to delete them
