I'm testing on Windows 7 x64 SP1.
I have downloaded httpd-2.4.9-win32.zip from VC10 Win32 link which includes IPv6 Crypto apr-1.5.0 apr-util-1.5.3 apr-iconv-1.2.1 openssl-1.0.1h zlib-1.2.8 pcre-8.34 libxml2-2.9.1 lua-5.1.5 expat-2.1.0.
I unzipped and installed on my system. Configured SSL. I installed in directory C:Apache24
httpd server configuring.I share my files only from local disks but some of my resources are located on truecrypt secure volume.When I want to start my server now I have to mount my all drives first to have all path active. Otherwise httpd doesn't start with 'invalid path' error.My question is, how to force httpd starting without path or drive exists checking?

SETUP:
CentOS 6.3, 64 bit.
Plesk 11.09, Update #10.
I enabled Watchdog in Plesk.
It works fine.
However, it doesn't start up by itself after a server reboot.
I can start it manually with the following command:
/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/modules/watchdog/wd --start (which I have done by adding it to /etc/rc.local)
Shouldn't Plesk do this automatically?
For some reason my nginx doenst start and I get the following error:

Since these changes were made, my wamp server will not start up. the wamp bar remain red.
What I have to do to find out/trace where the fault is?
I'm running Apache 2.2 on Windows 7. I'm a casual user of the Apache server, and the server I'm running is only used to develop a Silverlight application on the local machine, nothing more. The following problem is apparently a non-systematic error (sometimes the server can startup, sometimes it cannot. If it cannot, it sometimes can after a reboot (a service startup race condition?))
I get error when starting the server: "The requested operation has failed!"
When I run "http.exe" from a command prompt I get:

It does not write anything in the "error.log". It cannot? why? rights? but it could yesterday! anything changed from yesterday, no nothing!
I have tried to start the server many times today, and it has not written anything in error.log. Looking in the log there are many entries from yesterday, when the server probably worked!?
Okay there most be something using port 80 then!
Output from "netstat -o -n -a | findstr :80" is nothing! netstat says there is nothing listening on port 80.
I'm running SQL Server 2008 Express, and "Reporting Service" would be a prime candidate for listening on port 80, but netstat says it is not!
I'm using the ZoneAlarm firewall (the Apache server has been given full trust and permissions), and it has worked previously, I belive it cannot be the problem.
I'm using Avast anti-virus, but everything is disabled in it, and I'm only using it to run a virus check from time to time.
(I don't think it has anything to do with the "fully qualified domain name", because the setting it is complaining about has always been the same, also when the server is actually working, from time to time)

Members have been asked to try with Explorer, Firefox and Opera, and all get the same results. This is strange, as most Croatian and Serbian characters that are accentuated, like:
č, š, ć, ž
These go through just fine, as well as Cyrillic alphabet is OK as well.
Additionaly, one member reported a problem that 3-4 times he got an error while posting (but is usually OK to post), and he writes in Serbian Cyrillic - which seems to be usually fine, but there is an odd problem and error message:

We asked Invision Power Board tech support, however they say that the errors are on the server end in the Apache configuration, and not IPB. Which seems logical, as before the move on the new server (I don't think the old server used to run Apache), nothing like this used to happen.
Can anyone recommend a Apached and MYSQL optimization expert? I just some optimization done on mysql and apache upgraded... but pache wouldn't restart with the following entries:

I'm facing problem with latest Apache 2.4.9. Previously we used Apache 2.4.7 ​version which supports DER SSL certificates. But Latest Apache(2.4.9) is not working with DER SSL certificates. I have to convert DER certificate to PEM format to start the Apache server. Am i missing anything ? Is DER certificate not supported in Apache 2.4.9 ?

that is my error message I have changed skype's port from using port 80 and also uninstalled IIS from microsoft I have only installed xampp on its own without wamp server so that they dont conflict.

and there is a problem, because I do not get what I need. The result is: [URL] .....
The last / sing dous not even matter, because if I write the url without the ending /, the three dots are still removed.
It looks like everywhere in the url the (in regexp) .+/ pattern is replaced with a simple / sign.
The RewriteRule is very simple, I can not imagine it has anything to do with this, but it looks this:

I started to log the rewrite and it looks like if the specific parts of the url are replaced before the rewrite got it.

We have many intranet document what linked on our intranet site. We use "apache builed in" directory listing to handle documents on browser, and make accessable to users. Because this not so user friendly we try to use a template (h5ai-[URL] ....) for mod_autoindex.
Unfortunatelly if file or folder name contains special characters (like é,á,ű,ő,ú,ü,ö,ó) than get Access Forbidden - Error 403. If change the folder name, than its ok.
I use xampp. how to solve this.
I've migrated from Apache 2.2 to Apache 2.4 few days ago. It is installed as a service on my Windows 7 developer machine and works in bundle with PHP 5.6.2.
Today I've discovered that GET parameters with Cyrillic characters in URL string are empty.
For example URL looks like this: site.com/search.php?q=%C8%E2%E0%ED%EE%E2
URL-encoded string here is Иванов (%C8%E2%E0%ED%EE%E2)
When I try to use this GET parameter in my PHP script - the variable $_GET['q'] is empty. If I put latin characters in this parameter - $_GET['q'] is taking the corresponding value.
Doesn't look like it's a problem of PHP as I think. Otherwise at least something should stay in the variable. And also I would like to add that this was working absolutely normal on Apache 2.2.

I am trying to set up log rotation on my Apache Server on Windows 2008 using the rotatelogs.exe executable. I believe I am having issues because my directory path has spaces.
From my understanding, a full path is needed for the ErrorLog but not for the CustomLog

The system cannot find the path specified.
Two projects:
proj: site.loc
proj2.0: newsite.loc
They are located in different places on the file system. And i need to redirect from one project to another internally, so url for site.loc is preserved.
E.g. requesting site.loc/hey/there i need apache to serve files form proj2.0.
First, i know that on the .htaccess level we cannot use RewriteRule to file-system path (for security reasons).
Okay, an Alias is a workaround. Say I add an Alias to virtual host as following:
Code: Alias /newsite /some/path/to/proj2.0
Then if i'll add the rule to proj's .htaccess:
Code: RewriteRule ^hey/there /newsite
This will work.
But, the webroot does not work:
Code: RewriteRule ^$ /newsite
Is it i'm doing something wrong or there is some quirk about the webroot?
I've been developing websites using Apache on various Ubuntu laptops over the years. I just set up a new laptop with Apache and it worked fine. If I went to localhost in my browser then it showed the default page. So far, so good.
I then added a file to sites-available to add wildcard virtual hosts. This lets me use convenient urls while developing sites on my laptop. Once I enabled this site, every url that resolved to localhost became 403 Forbidden, including urls that should return 404. Here is an example entry from other_vhosts_access.log...

I did everything on the litespeed setup I was soppose to found at their wiki site. But still I recieve these errors, LiteSpeed works on my server because httpd is disabled and LiteSpeed is responding to request now.

I am currently running a dev server out of my home. The setup is as follows:
Server is Windows Server 2008.
Apache is running, listening on port 88. On this, I have subversion and TRAC.
IIS is running, listening on default port 80. On this I have an ASP.NET web site that pulls its code from subversion.
Router is a standard Linksys WRT54G.
Router is open as can be, just to test it. Server is in DMZ, all ports are forwarded to its IP (TCP and UDP), etc. This will change, but during setup state, it is what it is.
default.aspx is set up as default document in IIS. Folders are mapped correctly. The file exists in the physical directory it's looking at.
the only site and only Application pool in IIS are for the site in question.
The issue:
Both Apache and IIS work great on my local network.
Both Apache and IIS work great on wireless network.
However, in the wild, WAN works for the apache (port 88) but not IIS. Typing in http://[ip address]:88 or any of the subdirectories works fine. Typing in http://[ip address]/default.aspx returns, in Firefox, "Connection Interrupted -- the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading".
Windows firewall is disabled and unbound from all protocols. As specified, I've opened up the server and router as much as possible temporarily in order to allow me to lock it down again step by step once I have the issue solved.
We tried to use one software for offline browsing to download our site and test it if it will fail or not. We used 500 threads at once. Program was able to request 56 pages per second. Of course server (site) failed because there were no more available mysql connections. So site went down. Mod_evasive didn't block that.

Mod_evasive does work relatively well for small to medium sized brute force or HTTP level DoS attacks. There is, however, an important limitation that mod_evasive has that you should be aware of. The mod_evasive module is not as good as it could be because it does not use shared memory in Apache to keep information about previous requests persistent. Instead, the information is kept with each child process or thread. Other Apache children that are then spawned know nothing about abuse against one of them. When a child serves the maximum number of requests and dies, the DoS information goes with it. So, what does this mean? This means that if an attacker sends their HTTP DoS requests and they do not use HTTP Keep-Alives, then Apache will spawn a new child process for every request and it will never trigger the mod_evasive thresholds. This is not good…
Is there any solution for such type of attack with Keep Alive disabled?
I spent all my afternoon on this but I couldn't managed to solve this problem out. Hope someone knows the solution for this one.
I've chrooted Apache and now it won't start. I try to run it with chroot /chroot/httpd httpd and it doesn't start but instead enters a single error in a error log. Something about permission being denied and apr_proc_detach constant. The best part is that I managed to run it flawlessly on an another server, but on this one it won't start. If I start it with -X parameter then it runs fine. Has anyone came across this error before? What libraries I should put in chroot environment to avoid the apr_proc_detach permission denied error?
On another computer it runs without problems, so I believe it's problem me not including all the necessary libraries in the environment (I included everything on the ldd /usr/sbin/httpd list).
