Apache :: Force HTAccess Rules To Apply To Subdirectories
Jun 15, 2014
I have some instructions written in the .htaccess of root directory for my website. So how to force those rules to apply to all sub directories even if those sub directories have .htaccess that overwrite the rules of the mother .htaccess on the root directory ? For example the root .htaccess deny access to all *.log files, so how to force that rule even if in some subdirectories there is some .htaccess files that allow access of *.log files.
My issue is with my code I have it rewwrites my addon domains to the main domain. I have a addon domain exclusion line. But each time I add a domain I have to go in and edit the htaccess. I foresee lots of addon domains in my future.
How can i prevent error 302 in my site? for example, this [URL] .... is showing a status 200
But this same [URL] .... is showing me a status 302 (note the lack of forward slash)
Every folder in my site is showing this 302 error, so i tried to do a redirect in order to fix this, but its not working.
I think its the htaccess doing this kind of redirects in my hole site but I am new to this file, so i dont know how to fix this. Rules in my htaccess are here:
(I cant write into htaccess, but I can see the content of the file)...
Is it possible to get the .htaccess file to apply to only one folder? As in if we stick it in the public_html/ folder, how can we prevent those rules from being applied to all the folders in public_html/ folder?
I am running Apache2 server (version 2.2.16) on Debian Linux.
My document root for directory listings is set and in that folder I have a few other files to configure the formatting and visual effects. These are:
images(folder) sorttable.js style.css index.php
These files make the root directory look very nice. If I navigate in to a subdirectory, all of the formatting and visual effects are lost and the standard text layout is shown. Is there a way I can get ALL subdirectories in the root directory to take on the visual and layout effects from the root directory?
I know it works if I manually copy each of the files to each of the subdirectories which would be fine, but the subdirectories are created dynamically and new ones are added regularly.
We are struggling to configure our Apache reverse proxy (on WIN 2008) server to force https.
We have the cert installed on the proxy server, and it seems to be working but we are unable to force connections to https: and the site is still available via http:
How do you enforce https on the site?
reading read about the .htaccess file, virtual hosts but still having a hell of a time putting it all together
I have apache installed on a box with 2 nics. I've seen how to force the listener to an IP, but the issue is that this box uses DHCP. Is it possible to lock the listener to a network/subnet or to a specific NIC?
With this whole no-www thing going on. I've decided to have a look at whether I can do this for my domains.
Instead of writing a
RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ h77p://domain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
for every single domain I'd like to do this for across all domains as standard. I'm not too hot on rewrite rules and have in the past avoided them cos of the complexities. But I'd like to get this done, and no silently do it, but reflect the URL difference in the webbrowsers address bar too.
I am trying to redirect a request from a non-hosted domain, using a rewrite rule in our configuration file in conf.d. Our registrar has a pointer from this non-hosted domain to our domain.
I am writing a rewrite rules using mod_rewrite module. I have the same data repeating all over the rules that I would like to replace with variable and set variable once at the top of rules then use variable in the rest of rules. Then if I need to add another IP address I would just add additional IP address to the variable instead like now need to change several rules.
For example I have IP addresses that I would like to set as a variable.
Now rules are the following (simplified) in httpd.conf:
RewriteEngine Off RewriteCond %{REMOTE_ADDR} (192.168.5.20|192.168.7.15|10.10.20.50
I'm kinda new to apache and I have the following situation.
I have a vps, on which I have set the following:
WordPress Site A, has it's own VirtualHost and domain WordPress Site B, has it's own VirtualHost and domain Canvas LMS (not connected to a domain). Canvas LMS can add multiple accounts, which may (or may not) be accessed individually using a URL that looks as follows:
{canvas_root}/accounts/{account_id}/
For example : http://....../accounts/4/
I need to add a link to each of WP sites, which points to each site's account on Canvas, such that it appears as .../learning/ folder
I do not want the users to see the /account/4/ , just /learning/ I also want to prevent accessing Canvas LMS is located beyond the website's DocumentRoot I want this to work with both HTTP and HTTPS
This redirect works fine on Apache 2.2.8, but doesn't work on Apache 1.3.41
The following is the entry from error_log: RewriteRule: cannot compile regular expression '^sap-latest-news/([0-9]*)/([A-Za-z0-9_-.]*).htm$'
A simple Rewrite is working fine in Apache 1.3, but the above regualar expression doesn't seem to be working on Apache 1.3. Does anyone know whether Apache 1.3 doesn't support it?
I have a VPS with CentOS5 and CPanel...for some reason if I went to that URL it would show the website for the second account created in WHM...so I modified the httpd.conf and added the domain, but for some reason subdirectories won't work on it.
Forwarding a domain (incl. subdirectories/subdomains) to the same URL
I'm looking for a provider which can offer a service similar to mydomain.com, I should be able to add an unlimited number of domains to forward on external urls in a way which should point anything-you-digit.myname.com and myname.com/anything-you-digit to the same destination url If the service might also allow to add title, keywords and description for each domain, this would be even better but not required.
MyDomain can offer all this but there's a fee for each added domain while we'd prefer paying a monthly fee for a single hosting where adding multiple domains.
I am running into a bit of a problem. Previously, I can add an apache handler through cPanel easily... but now I moved to mediatemplate.net and that feature isn't available on their contol panel. Since they also run apache, I figured that I can set the apache handler manually through an .htaccess file - is that possible? If so, what is the syntax that will enable me to set .html files to be handled like .php files?
There is one setback to this process - this will be a manually inserted file for every directory that I want to do the above stated file handler. Is there an easier way to do this via SSH? I don't have root access, only normal user access.
I am have trouble using .htaccess and .htpasswd to password-protect a directory on my web server. How do I use .htaccess and .htpasswd to protect a directory?
I have a directory of /flash/1.swf all the way to /flash/4000.swf on my hosting.I am trying with terrible luck to load the flash movies into the container on zomgflash dot com(avoiding possible spam) -- its all setup...it should be loading the movies...I think it's a mod_rewrite problem but I could be wrong...it's basically a clone of iwantmoar dot com(avoiding spam again) -- you'll notice when you type a number after the domain like /238 or /2898 that it loads up /flash/238.swf or /flash/2898.swf into the flash container on the iwantmoar website. That's what I'm trying to get my website to do.
I need them shown like [URL] .... in the address bar... and that would have index.php load up 1.swf in the container if that makes more sense. This is the contents of my .htaccess from my relentless googling:
to: /some-product-name (e.g. /ichiban-fairly-offensive-sweat-in-grey)
We have 1,090 products and 60+ categories so some form of .htaccess trick would be amazing to know. What I could put in the .htaccess to accomplish this.
