Exim - How To Remove Rbl Lists From Exim.conf

May 2, 2007

I am having issues in receieving emails. For some reason, the rbl lists I had setup are causing the server to reject emails (retry - timeout). So, I need to take this rbl list completely. How can I do that? exim.conf is locked and using the advanced editor is no fun even though I tried it putting the dnslists without the rbl causing the problem.

Adding Google Adsense For Domains

Feb 19, 2009

Since they had opened it up to everybody, I am adding Google Adsense for domains to one of my spare domain names. I am unable to edit my A and CNAME records myself, so always just email my host to do it. The setup guide is here and my host is having problems.

Google wants you to setup 4 different A records, but my host claims they can only do one on a shared linux server running BIND DNS.

Is this just a limitation of using shared hosting or are we missing something obvious? Why can I not just add one of the A records and miss out the other three?

Apache Crash When Adding Sub-domains

Jun 2, 2015

We have an ongoing problem with Plesk on 1and1 dedicated servers.We host around 80 websites, all of which are very light and have relatively low traffic. When we get to setting up around the 70th website and create a new sub-domain, Apache crashes with the error:

Template_Exception: Can not restart web server:
file: /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Service/Driver/Web/Server/Apache.php
line: 104
code: 0

We then run "bootstrapper.sh repair" to get Apache back online. But can't create any new sub domains, without the same issue occuring. With each server, 1and1 raise a ticket with Parallels, who log in and fix the issue. But then Following the Parallels fix, the server runs slowly, sometime throwing up 502 errors etc, which nobody is able to fix, and again, we have to move servers.We have just hit exactly the same issue on our 3rd and final 1and1 server.

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: White Page After Adding New Domains

Feb 5, 2015

i registered some new domains and wanted to add them via Plesk. Before i did that i got the stanard Plesk default page saying that i have to add the domains via plesk as usual.

When i did that the domain switched to a white page and is not able to load .html pages, i can load a phpinfo.php or install wordpress etc. but when i try to load a simple .html file with css or something, i only get a whitepage..

i dont know why this is happening, other domains from december are working fine, new ones wont. the error.logs are empty and even after a whole server restart it wont work.I´m using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Server 64bit + Plesk 12.0.18

Configure Remote Domains In Exim

How can I do this in Exim?

I have a website xyz.com hosted in this server but the email server is hosted seperately. By default, i think all the email submitted locally will be send within the server itself. I need Exim to think xyz.com is a remote domain.

DNS Issues Rndc.conf & Named.conf

Apr 8, 2009

It started with this error:

Bind reloading on server01 using rndc zone: [ns1.mydomain.net]
Error reloading bind on server01: rndc: connect failed: 127.0.0.1#953: connection refused

so i did the obvious checked the csf firewall to see if port 953 was enabled and it was

so i took a look at rndc.conf

Code:
root@server01 [~]# nano /etc/rndc.conf
#start of rndc.conf
key "rndc-key" {
algorithm hmac-md5;
secret "KLGSBmWZrev0I4fR4Tm4GXxdcYSTFzF23b1f9is1M=";
};

options {
default-key "rndc-key";
default-server 127.0.0.1;
default-port 953;
};
# End of rndc.conf

# Use with the following in named.conf, adjusting the allow list as needed:
#key "rndc-key" {
# algorithm hmac-md5;
# secret "KLGSBmWZrev0I4fR4Tm4GXxdcYSTFzF23b1f9is1M=";
#};
#
# controls {
# inet 127.0.0.1 port 953
# allow { 127.0.0.1; } keys { "rndc-key"; };
# };
# End of named.conf
Then i took a look at named.conf

Code:
options {
/* make named use port 53 for the source of all queries, to allow
* firewalls to block all ports except 53:
*/

//query-source port 53;

/* We no longer enable this by default as the dns posion exploit
has forced many providers to open up their firewalls a bit */

// Put files that named is allowed to write in the data/ directory:
directory "/var/named"; // the default
pid-file "/var/run/named/named.pid";
dump-file "data/cache_dump.db";
statistics-file "data/named_stats.txt";
/* memstatistics-file "data/named_mem_stats.txt"; */
};

logging {
/* If you want to enable debugging, eg. using the 'rndc trace' command,
* named will try to write the 'named.run' file in the $directory (/var/named").
* By default, SELinux policy does not allow named to modify the /var/named" directory,
* so put the default debug log file in data/ :
*/
channel default_debug {
file "data/named.run";
severity dynamic;
};
};

// All BIND 9 zones are in a "view", which allow different zones to be served
// to different types of client addresses, and for options to be set for groups
// of zones.
//
// By default, if named.conf contains no "view" clauses, all zones are in the
// "default" view, which matches all clients.
//
// If named.conf contains any "view" clause, then all zones MUST be in a view;
// so it is recommended to start off using views to avoid having to restructure
// your configuration files in the future.

view "localhost_resolver" {
/* This view sets up named to be a localhost resolver ( caching only nameserver ).
* If all you want is a caching-only nameserver, then you need only define this view:
*/
match-clients { 127.0.0.0/24; };
match-destinations { localhost; };
recursion yes;

zone "." IN {
type hint;
file "/var/named/named.ca";
};

/* these are zones that contain definitions for all the localhost
* names and addresses, as recommended in RFC1912 - these names should
* ONLY be served to localhost clients:
*/
include "/var/named/named.rfc1912.zones";

Parked Domains Over Addon Domains

Apr 18, 2008

I have 2 wordpress blogs, and I'd like a few different domains to be shared on each of them.

Using some exemples, suppose I have domains from domainA.com to domainE.com. domainA.com is my main domain and the others are addon domains.

Today Blog1 is using blog.domainA.com, and domainB.com and domainC.com use WebRedirect to blog.domainA.com. And Blog2 uses domainD.com with WebRedirect on domainE.com too.

To access a post like /2008/02/02/this-is-a-nice-post, it is available only at blog.domainA.com, and not by domains B and C. I'd like they 3 to be able to access all posts directly, without redirecting to domain A.

To do that, I suppose I'd need to do some config on cPanel. And also on wordpress, even if I replicate it over other domains it insists to redirect to its configured domain.

I was thinking on the possibility of using symbolic link (ln -s) on their folders to blog.domainA.com folder, but I don't have access to shell on SSH so I'd like to know if it would work before trying.

In a real exemple of what I want, these domains all share the same phpBB forum: forumpcs.com.br, extremepc.com.br, forumdohardware.com.br.

Do u know if symbolic link would work to share the same wordpress? And how to make wordpress stop redirecting to blog.domainA.com?

Resolv.conf

Apr 21, 2008

I have a new VPS server in which I did not configure the /etc/resolv.conf file. My VPS has three domains that are all working and resolving fine. But I keep getting an email from my provider that says this:

The hostname (v6.volumedr.com) resolves to. It should resolve to xx.xx.xx.xx. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

Some are all of these problems can be caused by
/etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if youbelieve everything else is correct.

You may be able to automaticly correct this problem by using the Add an A entry for your hostname ' under ' Dns Functions ' in your Web Host Manager.

Why does the actual server hostname need to resolve via dns?

I have confirmed that /etc/hosts looks good and I added an A record in my WHM for each domain. Do I need to configure the /etc/resolv.conf file too? Do I need to list my three domains and my server hostname(v8) and then my two primary DNS servers?

DNS & Resolv.conf

Feb 15, 2007

I'm supposed to be completing a server migration on Saturday night. But I have one teeeeny tiny problem....

I have no DNS/nameservers provided by my new DC for the resolv.conf.

They have them - but I don't think they operate like true root nameservers or something. I keep getting a ton of Unroutable Mail Domain errors for server email that should be leaving the new box.

When the resolv.conf was set to use the 4.2.2.x dns servers - it was working fine.
And I don't know if it's ok to just keep it using those or not?...

What other DNS servers can I use for the resolv.conf? Any DC's nameservers? Are there "public" ones available somewhere?

As far as I can see, this would limit all users in the group "dev" from using more than half a minute of CPU time, am I correct?

Assuming I am, once I write these changes no limits seem to be enforced. Are these values cached in the memory and a reboot is needed for them to take effect?
