2 Email Addresses On The Same Domain But Using Different Mail Servers
I'm trying to see if it's possible to have 2 email addresses on the same domain (e.g. email1@domain.com and email2@domain.com) but are handled by 2 different email servers (e.g. mail.domain1.com and mail.domain2.com)?
To put it into context, I have a domain hosted on my dedicated server and a couple of email accounts set up on it. I also have another mail account set up on a different server but with the same domain. I was wondering if maybe something could be done with the DNS to allow the 'external' mail account to be handled by the other server?

"unrouteable mail domain "yahoo.com". Etc. I try to reinstall exim #/scripts/exim4 --force I even reboot the server but nothing works.

Email Being Sent To Non Existent Email Addresses
On one my servers, I'm receiving hundreds of spam emails that are clogging up the email queue to email addresses that do not exist. For instance domain.com, I would get bob@domain.com liz@domain.com 325235@domain.com You get the picture. How do I setup my server so that if there isn't an email address setup the email automatically gets deleted instead of trying to attempt to deliver it?

IP Addresses And Dedicated Servers
I currently have a dedicated server company which will go unnamed. I'm wanting to change to a different server, but they won't let me keep my IP addresses. Do you all think this is pretty standard across the board, or is it just the provider I'm with? I guess I should have done my homework more before signing up, but I personally find this totally inconvenient to the customer. It makes me feel as if my provider doesn't care about me.

Multiple Outside Static IP Addresses To Host Web And Mail Server?
Q: Does one need to have more than one ISP (outside) static IP address to host its own mail and web server? Or will one static IP with port forwarding to two different machines (one mail and other web server) be good enough? What would happen if one wants to host two websites on one machine (web server) and have webmail to access emails (presumably via port 80) on another (mail server)? My only concern is I guess my ASA 5505 won't support more than one assigned static IP or am I wrong?

Managing Multiple Email Addresses
I had a thread about this several years ago here but it petered out without a satisfactory resolution and when I tried to restart it the Sitepoint bot suggested I start a new thread . . . Briefly, I'm into lots of stuff - software, art, poetry, business, etc, so I want to have different email addresses for each activity but I want them all to go to the same inbox so I don't have to log into n different accounts to check my email. My website is hosted by HostMySite but their webmail offering ("Smartermail") is lame. I don't have the option of installing a different email client (at least not for what I'm paying) but I DO have the option of routing my email to a different provider while retaining my @pnArt.com email address. Aliases don't solve this because if someone sends email to an alias, e.g., myalias@pnart.com it goes to my root account inbox, say, myroot@pnart.com so when I hit "reply" the recipient sees the mail coming from myroot@pnart.com, not myalias@pnart.com. Furthermore, if HE replies it goes to the global "reply-to" address which is a THIRD address because I don't want the root address in general circulation, to minimize spam to my root email. I'm getting complaints from clients and customers about this because they're not sure which email address they're expected to use.. Is there any third-party email provider that lets me have multiple aliases or identities that I can process from ONE inbox, but where the alias or identity is applied in a consistent way so my clients see just ONE email address from me?

ASSP Is Getting Filled Up With @*.de Email Addresses
Every week or so, my whitelist in ASSP is getting filled up with @*.de email addresses. Coincidentally, at that same time, I start receiving massive amounts of spam because those addresses are whitelisted. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? The list of addresses is the same every time it happens, but it really worries me that somehow my whitelist is getting modified without my permission. The assp web interface is disabled (blocked at the firewall) because I update the configuration by just editing the files. SSH access is completely disabled, save for key authentication...So my thoughts are that somehow, an external address is able to modify my whitelist...somehow. Does anyone have any thoughts or troubleshooting ideas for me?

Retrieving Bounced Email Addresses
I am managing a newsletter list and would like to remove the email addresses of messages that have failed or bounced. I have been sending my newsletter with inhouse software that bundles email in the bcc field. As a result each bounced email lists multiple bounced emails in the body of the returned email. I have found software that can automatically go through an inbox and make a list of all the bounces however this only works when the bounced emails show up in the email field. Is there any way that I can retrieve a list of bounced email addresses without manually opening each email and getting the address?

How To Bounce A Set Of Email Addresses
I have a catchall for a domain that has been used for years, e.g. vendor1@mydomain.com, vendor2@mydomain.com. Unfortunately, thanks to the fact that maiming spammers is still against the law, I have to live with the fact that the world can no longer have catchall accounts with any usability. One particular jackass is using my domain to spoof numerous idiotic emails. He uses some combo of bulltek*****@mydomain.com. While I am transitioning all of my emails to either 1 account or forward individually each vendor account, how can I bounce emails using that set above? I'm also looking for something better than spam assassin to prevent email and which will provide more options and a better interface. Of note, this method of vendor@domain.com worked well because I was able to identify vendors who sold my email address to spam me...

Servers Mail Not Being Delivered - It Just Disappears
I have a virtual dedicated server with GoDaddy. I don't know to much about managing a server, but have been doing ok for the last 5 months or so (so please make any explainations VERY simple) I run several pretty heavy traffic sites, and the scripts on the sites send out automatic notifications to the user base that has requested such notifications (new responses, new listings etc..) and in the past few days NONE of those emails are making it through. The mail just DISAPPEARS! I'm not getting any bounced email, the mail queue manager has only the same spam as not being allowed through, and I have restarted exim, GoDaddy also says that mail IS being sent from the server, they just can't explain why it isn't being delivered, and I'm not going over the max amount I can send daily. I have NO clue what is going on and ANY help is REALLY appreciated! Also, the forwarders are still working (mail sent to user@domain.com still gets successfully forwarded to the correct email address)

Is Rdns Compulsary Now For Mail Servers
I don't know much about technical details of mail servers. But i want to discuss a serious problem i am facing now. I have a reseller account with jodohost. I am not a reseller but i need this to host 20 of my own and client sites. During last few days no. of emails coming to us dropped almost 60% and suddenly i found that i was not getting emails from few of my clients. Then today i got a call from two of them and they said that all emails they were sending to me, were bouncing back.I asked them for a copy of bounced emails which they sent to my gmail account and i forwarded it to my jodohost support. This the response i got- All of our mail servers have reverse DNS and mails are delivered. anyone not having rDNS is not able to mail much of the internet already, they really must talk to their system administrators and get reverse DNS setup. Now they say that my clients do not have rdns at their mail servers and emails from them can not be delivered to my account. Is rdns compulsory to send emails from a mail server these days? But in that case i may not get emails from so many inquires?

Sending Email To Another Server When The Email Address Domain Is On This Server
I currently have a domain on Server 1 (Linux, Apache, Ubuntu, Matrix control panel). This server does not have any spam filter, so I have moved all the email accounts to Server 2 (Linux, Apache, Fedora Core, Plesk) which does have a brilliant spam filter; and have changed the DNS record for mail.domain.com to the IP address for Server 2. Emails are being successfully received on Server 2. On Server 1, when an email is sent through SMTP to an address at that domain, it does not send it to Server 2, it gets delivered to the hosting account for the domain on Server 1. So what I am guessing is happening is that Server 1 detects the domain has an account on the server, and instead of looking up the DNS info for that domain, just assumes it is on Server 1. What I need to do, is force Server 1 to send email for that domain to Server 2. Is this possible, and if so, how can it be achieved? If more info about the server is required for a solution please let me know and I'll provide what I can.

How To Get Hostname/ip Of Sending Mail Server From An Email
I know how to do this by analysing the headers, but we have a customers who doesn't believe what we are telling them. Is there some kind of 3rd party service or script that we can point them to? So they can send an email to the service (or paste headers, or whatever) and it tells them who is the sending mail server hostname/ip? (The problem is that this customer doesn't understand that all email sent from the server uses the same SMTP server hostname/ip. They are convinced that if they connect to "mail.their domain.com" then this is what is reported as the sending mail server/IP.)

My Mail Server Will Not Receive Or Send Email
Here is what happened: We have been running our web/ftp/application/mail server for about 4 years, and running flawlessly. This week one of the computers in the network was infected with a virus that was sending spam like crazy. We got blacklisted, as per this site mxtoolbox.com. Our domain is affordablerto.net. Since then we have isolated the problem, klilled the virus and are no longer blacklisted. But we are not able to send or receive any emails now. I wrote mxtoolbox and there reply was basicly "We can get you up and running if you pay us". I called our ISP and they stated that the ports(25) are open. When I do an smtp diagnostic from mxtoolbox I get the response that Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero. When I go to dnsreport and input our mail server (mail.affordablerto.net) I get ERROR: The parent servers say that the domain mail.affordablerto.net does not have any NS records (although they may have some other information on that zone). When I put in our mail server under mail test I get this Getting MX record for mail.affordablerto.net (from local DNS server, may be cached)... There is no MX record for mail.affordablerto.net! That's bad. Checking for an A record... Got it! When I put in our domain I get this...well I can not put a link in yet - the software here says I need to take 5 posts before I can link anything. Go ahead and try it yourself. I am not sure what most of this information means. I am in contact with our DNS provider and they keep on trying to sell me some solution. So does mxtoolbox. I don't know what to do.

Primary And Secondary Servers (web And Mail)
I have 2 servers 1 US and 1 UK. What I wanna do is synchronize both of them using rsync. Once they've got synchronized, the UK will be the primary server and US will be secondary, in case the UK goes down. my questions are 1. Is it possible that when the UK goes down, the A records for domain.com automatically switches to the US server so it can take over while UK is down. ie. UK ip 112.113.114.1 US ip 222.111.444.5 domain.com A records = UK ip when up... but when UK is down, A records automatically changes to US ip. 2. And when the UK server goes up again, whatever changes made to US server will be pushed to UK. May it be files, accounts or e-mails. I.E. UK and US are synchronized every 30mins. UK and US both have e-mails 1-10. Just before the sync time, UK server received an e-mail 11-15 then goes down. So the US Server will take over but do not have 11-15 mails, since it was received before sync time. During the UK downtime, US server received e-mails 16-20. When the UK server goes up, will it be possible to sync both servers that both of them will have the e-mails 1-20? I hope you get my point... If these are not feasible, what can you advice as an alternative solution. All I want is to avoid downtimes, especially with mails as the business relies on this.

Creating A Real Mail Using A Domain Name
i have just asked about it a local hosting copany and they show unable to understand what i was asking in the beginning and to give me a proper reply when they finally did. What i want is to create several mail accounts using my domain names (several mail accounts for each domain name using it) The usual answer is to use mail forwarding that every registrar offer for free when you register a domain name with them. So you get a free mail account amail@gmail.com domain name adomain.com and you create a forwarding such as amail@adomain.com to amail@gmail.com then you give amail@adomain.com so they can write to you using that fake mail, the message will bounce in your registrar and will send it to amail@gmail.com but what if i want a real amail@adomain.com mail because i want to write replies from that address. With mail forwarding as long as i know you can receive mail using the fake mail forwarding address but as mail is not a real one you then are forced to reply from the real account behing the forwarding one amail@gmail.com Can i do that, is that a service included in hosting plans or somewhere. Or am i wrong and its simpler than that.

When someone sends him a mail from Brinkster.com, a rebound error is received: Quote: This is the Postfix program at host mta7.brinkster.com. I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below. For further assistance, please send mail to <postmaster> If you do so, please include this problem report. You can delete your own text from the attached returned message. The Postfix program <ramy@kellyetcie.com>: kellyetcie.com This only happens to that specific client. I tried sending a brinkster email to another account on the server, and it works fine. The problem only happens with that specific client..

E-mail From Addon Domain Flagged As Junk
I have an addon domain running on my webhosting along side my primary account. I am mostly using the Thunderbird client to send e-mails. 80% of the time when I send a mail out from "name@addondomain.com" hotmail, gmail, yahoo all see it as spam! What's ironic is I receive more darn adult e-mails in my free accounts than anything else, and yet it's thinking the occasional mass personal message is SPAM? So these guys that flood my inbox daily must know something I don't? Is there something I'm doing incorrectly? Or do I need to change a hosting package setting, should I use different software such as a php mailing list?

Website And Email On Different Servers
I have server A serving the website for my domain example.com and server B handling email for the same domain example.com. Apart from one problem everything is working the way it should. The problem is that all email originating from server A (the one hosting the website) to someone@example.com is delivered locally (server A) and never gets out where it could be routed correctly to server B. What needs to be done to deliver mail originating from server A to server B?

Email With Your Own Domain Name
I have created five different websites for different customers and I have never offered them the option of having their email with their own domain name (coustomer@yourdomainname.com) just because I don’t see an easy way for them to login to check their emails, something like www.yourdomain.com/username or something that can be easy to remember. So I was wandering how you guy are doing it, what interface is the best Horde, SquirrelMail or Round Cube? How are you guys checking your emails? Is there a lot of spam? I used Cpanel for all of these sites but I honestly have never use the email part.
