Multiple Domains/websites With A Single Hosting Plan

May 31, 2009

I'm about to the point where I am ready to host my website. I already have a domain but no hosting plan. In the future I may want to have several different websites each with their own unique domain. I was wondering if I choose a hosting plan for one site, can I use the unused web space for additional domains/websites?

Email Hosting - Multiple Domains

Sep 30, 2009

I would like to find a host for the following scenario....

I have a few domains hosted in various places - but would like to host their email on one server - or with one provider.

I require pop3, IMAP, webmail access.

I manage my own nameservers (this is my current gotcha) and would like to spend as little as possible.

Multiple Domains On Shared Hosting

Sep 3, 2008

I run several sites and am wanting to setup several more. Currently I have two shared plans, but I don't like how the add-on domains are affected by the main domain (e.g. on 4## and 5## pages).

Is going reseller the easiest way for me to have these domains not affected by each other (a separate cpanel each)?

Finally, I don't use a lot of resources so are there actually reseller plans out there with lower prices (and lower resources too).

Hosting Multiple Domains On The Same Account With GoDaddy

Jul 22, 2008

I have a little question that I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable can answer. I had a hosting account with GoDaddy that just hosted my web site only. I had a few clients need hosting at the same time so I looked into upgrading my account to one that would host multiple domains. (this is my first time with multiple clients, can you tell?) I thought perfect! I can host all of my clients accounts from this one hosting account. I thought there would be multiple account interfaces to support this.

So when I get in there, it lets me add one of the domains I was working on and then I went to upload the files and apparently I had to upload the file to a directory off of my site. So points to

I uploaded it just to test it out and when you go to it shows in the address bar as, not, even though that is the directory path. I'm sure there's a name for this but I have no idea what it is so I wanted to explain my issue clearly.

So, I'm wondering, is this kosher? Is this bad to do or do a lot of people do this and will it affect my site? From what I've gathered so far, people only do this when they have multiple domains pointing to the same site, or am I wrong?

Fasthosts Query - Multiple Domains On One Hosting Package

I'm doing some work for a client, they have a linux developer package with Fasthosts for an existing website.

what I can't seem to work out from the Fasthosts website is whether I could register another domain with this package to save having to buy further hosting. Both websites are pretty small.

Seperate Email Accounts When Hosting Multiple Domains

Mar 14, 2008

I just tried westhost. Very nice folks, good reviews, worth a shot. I signed up for a regular hosting account that allows multiple domains. That didn't work for email. An email user has access to email under that users name for all domains attached to the account. so you can't have,, etc. One info@ per account. I did find a hack for it, but it wouldn't work with web mail.

So now I need to find a host that separates mail by domain WITH webmail.

This is getting so tiresome. I have a VPS with "the planet", but so many things just don't work out of the box. I've been fighting with them about PHP not sending mail for months. DNS problems everytime I setup a new domain. There has to be an easier way!

15 domains, everything needs to work. I don't want to manage anything. No resellers. The company I host with will own the data center.

Plesk 11.x / Linux :: Multiple Email Certificates For Multiple Domains?

Nov 11, 2014

I have two domains as virtual hosts on same IP address.

I am getting certificate error for the second domain when I try to check email (using MS Outlook). I can't permanently "accept" certificate, it complains again and again. Certuficate I created and self signed for, but the second email server is, so it complains.

How do I set separate email certificates for two domains? Is it possible at all?

Multiple Sites Behind Single IP

Sep 26, 2007

I have three sites running on three separate servers behind a single router with DDWRT. One of the servers is a Windows 2003 server that I have DNS running on.

Each domain name points to my public static IP address.

My router is set to use the windows 2003 server as the DNS server.

I have port 80 forwarding to the windows 2003 server.

I can access the sharepoint site that is on the 2003 server from outside my network and within it without any problems.

When I try to access one of the other two sites from outside the network, i get a 400 error. When I try to access the same sites from within the network, they work fine.

How Many Domains/websites On A VPS

Oct 17, 2009

I have a pretty 'beefy' VPS (Future Host 'Titanium' plan, 1Gb RAM, equal share, 750 Mb bandwidth, 50Gb disk).

I'm using it mostly to host relatively small, low-traffic Wordpress sites. Right now, there are about 40 domains & blogs set up.

The majority see only a few dozen visitors per day. A few have traffic around 100 visitors, and 1 or 2 may get up to 500 per day.

My question is, what might be a comfortable limit on domains/blogs I can host before I should start thinking about adding a 2nd VPS?

Multiple Sites On A Single Server

Jan 4, 2007

I am starting a small template based company. How many unique websites in their own unique folder can I host on a single server?

These websites would not get many hits, maybe a few hundread to a few thousand a month per site. My goal is to minimize the number of accounts I will have to open up with a web service provider.

Should I purchase 1 package per site or is there a way to get around this. Each unique site would have its own unique domain.

Dedicated IP Addresses; Multiple Websites With SSL..

Oct 30, 2008

Hello guys, I have been a longtime lurker (too long ) and I look forward to becoming an active member on the site...

I am still in the process of researching a reliable web hosting company. It has been a blessing and a curse to have so many choices. I plan to host multiple ecommerce websites (5) and will need SSL encryption. I have looked at Hostgator as a possible candidate, but their business package has just one dedicated IP address...

If I am running 5 seperate ecommerce websites, will I need 5 seperate dedicated IP addresses in order to utilize SSL for each individual site? My suspicion is yes due to security purposes...
Also what are good SSL certificates? RapidSSL appears to be a cheaper one, but is it the same as other certificate issuers? Or is buying certs equivalant to buying domains; just but the cheapest ones....

Thanks again guys... Just curious on what my options are. I'm "starting" out and testing the waters so to speak so a dedicated server or higher cost solution is out of the question yet. I would like to find a good quality shared server hosting plan with a reputable company who doesn't overloard servers for profit....

Any ideas what you guys would recommend with the above mentioned... ixwebhosting appears perfect for my needs due to the fact you get 8 dedicated IP's (so they say), but I have read nothing but bad things about them + the price is too good to be true...

When I hear the words "Unlimited" I want to run.. Unlimited and Cheap... LOL *rolls eyes* Want quality, fair price, for the above mentioned items...

Single Dedicated Vs. Multiple Mosso Cloud Servers

May 10, 2009

I have been very interested in Mosso for quite some time, though Cloud Sites didn't seem quite right for what I needed with the compute cycles they had. However, their fairly new Cloud Sites looks very interesting, and their sales people at least will have me believe load balancing with several server instances will be superior to my current dedicated server.

Right now I have a server with Liquid Web that costs me $424/mo and 4x Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz with 4GB of RAM. The average load on the server is anywhere from 30% at low times to 70-80% at peak times and memory usage is usually 20-50%. On average there are about 1000 mysql queries per second as the site is very ajax-intensive (hence Cloud Sites being way too expensive).

I don't really know the difference and technical side of all of this, I just program and do the business side of things, but I really like what Mosso has and am wondering if I would get a performance boost going with their Cloud Servers (Going with something like 8 server instances at 512mb RAM each @ only around $200/mo including bandwidth). Also, would I want to load balance all 8, or do something like 4 running the mysql and the other 4 serving the actual site?

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: New Websites / Domains Only Load Default Page?

Jul 9, 2014

I am creating new sites in my panel and they are only loading the default page.

The IP is pointed correctly or I would not get the default plesk page.

All the other service seem to work ok. I can ftp in and I can edit files with the online file manager.

If I use the preview feature I can see the changes I make to the files, but that is the only way.

I looked in /var/www/vhosts/system/ and the conf files are present.

What else can I check to see why the sites are not working?
