View 7 RepliesSunday last week I tried to addon a domain for somebody who wanted to host a board on my serverspace, initialy we were planing to merge the board and the page together in a while.
As soon as I had the domain added (straight forward process) the primary domain apacheclips.com wasn't pointing nowhere, of course we backtracked and tried to fix the issue our self but after an hour of troublshooting we had to pack it in and contact customer support.
Nobody actually worked on my ticket (even considering the fact that it was on EMERGENCY) so i had to contact the support via Yahoo messanger, when I finally had somebody on the "line" all he could tell me was that he cannot help me that the Admin is still not in the office and that I have to wait for the admin.
I mean all of here know that particularly small and new pages are heavily hit by downtime, he didn't seem to care: Yes yes I will contact you.
Monday evening page still down no reply, so I called to India, talked to the Admin who hadn't a clue but promised me and swore he would call me back and fix the issue.
Monday end of busines - no email - no call - no reply to my ticket - ABSOLUTLY NOTHING! they are also based in India - not that this matters one bit I'm sure there are plenty of good hosting companies in india but I had a kind (ah here we go) effect when I found out were they are based.
After me completly melting down and sacraficing my cat and nine kittens I simply made the decission to move account - APT host now there is a company that understand the meaning of customer support - not only do they have 24/7 support I also spoke to a support engineer in a matter of minutes - in 30 min I was sold and finalized the account - 1h later I got my email asking me how I want to move my existing account and the details - 4h later all my data about 3-4 gig were all transfered to my new account - at the same time I received an email telling me so and the login details - 4 1/2 h later they added my domain and pointed it to the right folder.
Now of course the nameserver had to be changed so the page wasn't fully back up until early Wednesday.
I know you get what you pay for hostonnet charges 70 Euros for the account - for the same money I got a semidedicated server from APT host and 500gig more bandwidth, much better support and so forth.
Do i think it will be the end of any trouble? Of course not unless you have your own box you will always be depending on the Hosting companies and even when you have your own dedicated server there are plenty of ways to get screwed over (hosting Forums are full of dreadfull stories) but with APT you at least have some sort of security..
DO NOT HOST YOUR PAGE AT hostonnet.com
to install in my VPS the vShare script and I have a headache with this issue, and I decide to contract an installation service. HostOnNet offers this service by $25.
I want to know if you meet this company or other that offers the same. I don't matter the price, if they are good.
