View 14 RepliesThere are two companies which could be chosen as the provider for VPS hosting.
Experienced, professional and stable globaltap.com, which is running since 1998, but offers higher prices
And webhostingbuzz.com - also professional and honest, suitable and attractive, but with less experience and cheaper price.
Thinking about migrating a couple of blogs over from blogger.com to a paid host, since I really want to migrate over to using wordpress. No, I do not want to use wordpress.com.
I've done a little research, and stumbled across site5.com and webhostingbuzz.com. I like them because they both have active user forums, and the basic hosting plans are very affordable, if you pay for a couple of years in advance. Site5.com seems to have gotten mixed reviews recently, since apparently they just merged with ThePlanet, guess that is another hosting company. Webhostingbuzz, interestingly enough, the servers are in the US, but the support is in the Ukraine. They have a really cheap price, potentially $3.95/month.
I've read through lots of online reviews and even this forum for advice. It's a bit overwhelming the amount of options out there. Just want to host a couple of blogs and small websites. And preferably, a cheap price, since I am hosting the sites right now for free on blogger.
Also considered hostgator.com, but they are a bit pricier.
Webhostingbuzz and Lunarpages
(Startup A) (Basic)
$5/month $6.95/month
What are the important differences? I can't post URL yet. I know nothing is unlimitted, so how much space/bandwidth am I suppose to be able to use?
I have been referred to this company by one of my friend while I was in search for an asian reseller. They only provide US resellers but I have given a try any way coz their attractive low priced offer on top of that I was given a coupon by my friend and I only had to spend around $50 for 6 months for the reseller plan
Few days after signup I had a huge downtime that lasted several hours and I was told there was a problem with their data center. I was very upset in the first place but other than that I never had any downtimes.
I had only one issues with them and it was resolved for me by their live chat and they were very helpful.
That's it for now and I'll review them after few months.
Would I recommend this host? YES! despite the downtime but I guess it was only one time issues hope it stays that way!
Their pro D is 200GB for $55
Compare to others its alot. But they better not be overselling reseller accounts. Specially with overselling enabled it will be impossible to live up to it if they are overselling.
Webhostingbuzz.com has been in the web hosting market for a long while and they have many positive feedbacks. In my opinion they are a realiable company with a large client database.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn their terms of service, they state that if files over 500kb exceeds 10% of the space your uploaded files, you are violating their Acceptable Use Policy and will suspend your account.
This is clearly out to fraud their clients because if you upload 10 large pictures and put them on a website along with a simple HTML page, you are effectively breaking their terms. So watch out for these tricks.
I have been a client of WHB since 2002. I use them just for a couple of galleries and such through the years. Recently, I made a business that serves MP3's for a couple of my clients. I bought a their plan for 300GB and 2TB transfer. I knew that they weren't selling 300GB nor 2TB transfer so I read their AUP which stated that they were really selling about 10% if you want to host files greater than 500KB.
I used about 15GB of space and and 30GB of bandwidth a month which is 5% of the disk space and 1.5% of the bandwidth that they claim to give you. This is clearly not abuse under any interpretation. However, it violates their AUP and I have been suspended.
I could have fill up 150GB of their disk space with garbage HTML files to accomdate the AUP but I would consider that abusing their service.
Beware of their AUP when you want to host with WHB. Make sure that you understand the terms or else they have the upper hand.
I was not doing any sort of annoying activities such as emailing, linking a zillion domains, using CPU time, breaking copyright, or otherwise abusing their service.
I'm only writing this to warn people of the potential pitfalls in using WHB. If any of you recommend a web host that isn't out to get you with questionable terms, please post it because I have to move my website and files. My budget is about $30 a month.
I joined Webhostingbuzz(WHB) affiliate program on Nov. 2007
And made 3 sales before Feb. 2008
And all these 3 sales are APPROVED after 1 or 2 months
But still I am not get paid in April
Then I wrote an email to them ask about this issue
and after about several days they told me that it was still not the time for the payment
I just had to wait
And May came, I wrote the secod email,
they told me
Quote:
Please note that for a commission to become valid the referred website has to be active and running.
I am not sure why the customer I referred did not run his site on WHB, but I guess one possible reason might be like this
[url]
Then, in June, I wrote the 3rd email ask about the same issue
And now this time is even better, they totally ignored my email!
How time flies, here comes July
Let's see how they will surprise me and us
