Would a VPS be a good/bad choice for running a stock trading system? I was considering the options of a dedicated/colo/VPS in a datacenter instead of running it from home as it should provide better up time (especially with all the storms here in FL). Seems like it could be done for a similar price to having 2 broadband connections at home (i.e. Fios and Roadrunner thru a dual router) with less likelihood of power outages.
Something like this would use its bandwidth receiving a stock datafeed and sending trades rather than many users connecting to a website. At home, it spikes up to 15-20% CPU at times on an old Celeron Dell SC420 server with 512mb memory. Being .Net, it would need to be Windows based.

I have a full rack in Los Angeles with a gig of Cogent bandwidth, and I'd like to have more redundancy elsewhere. I was thinking about finding people who were interested in trading space and bandwidth.
I'm curious about whether people have experience or strong feelings about trades like these. I haven't heard about people doing this before, but I think it'd be a good idea.

I am based in the UK and have a dedicated server with Burton Hosting. Our server has gone down, normally I can easily get through to someone but their phones (UK and US) are dead, they just hang up. No-one is answering the support tickets, or looking at the forum. This is completely unlike them (normally can get through within 30 seconds) and I fear the worst. I have been trying since 9am UK time (5 hours). Does anyone know what's up, or have another phone number, other than those listed on their website?
