Solaris 10 OS + AMP

Jan 9, 2008

Has anyone have any experiences with Solaris 10 OS + AMP? I'm interested in hearing about your experiences. I'm considering Solaris 10 OS + AMP as the OS for my server (Sun x2200 m2) - as Ubuntu Server is not yet supported on x2200.

if Solaris 10 OS + AMP is not a good option then which one should I choose from the following supported options.

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 U8, 32-bit/64-bit
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 U4, 32-bit/64-bit
• SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 SP3, 64-bit
• VMware ESX 3.0

Apache :: 2.4 Install On Solaris

Mar 2, 2015

I have been running into the following fatal error issue while compiling apache2.4 version on Solaris. Config command ran successfully, however the make command fails with recording name conflict error for libapr-1.so.

ld: fatal: recording name conflict: file '/soft/oracle/product/apache24/httpd-2.4.12/srclib/apr/lib/libapr-1.so' and file '/soft/oracle/product/apache24/httpd-2.4.12/srclib/apr/.libs/libapr-1.so' provide identical dependency names: libapr-1.so.0 (possible multiple inclusion of the same file)
ld: fatal: file processing errors. No output written to .libs/httpd

*** Error code 2

make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `httpd'
Current working directory /soft/oracle/product/apache24/httpd-2.4.12
*** Error code 1
The following command caused the error:
otarget=`echo all-recursive|sed s/-recursive//`;
list=' srclib os server modules support';
for i in $list; do

Recommendation Hardware For (open)solaris/ZFS

Aug 6, 2009

so I have tried every version of solaris I can find on the following two supermicro motherboards and it just won't install.

X7SBL-LN2
X7DCA-L

I've tried 3 different cdrom's and 2 different dvdrom's (one usb)... as I heard that sometimes solaris is picky about this stuff.

They get to where the kernel is supposed to load but it never does. Another one it just goes into a reboot cycle...

I google'd a bunch and it seems maybe the ich9 chipset isn't really well supported?

I can't find these motherboards in the compatible hardware lists but then there isn't a lot of supermicro motherboards in the list I can find.

I'd love some recommendations, I want to test this stuff out but I've spent a few hours and got nowhere so far.
