ServerComplete: A+++++

Aug 5, 2008

I've just moved to ServerComplete from Futurehosting and I'll just do a brief review.

Note: Futurehosting was a 1GB ram VPS (CPanel) and ServerComplete was a 512MB ram VPS (Directadmin). Both were based on Virtuozzo.

Stability:
SC: A+. Superb. Extremely stable. VPS running so smoothly. Load average constantly below 0.1. Amazing.

FH: D. The initial VPS they gave me had the irritating problem of crashing every day. I contacted their support and they pinpointed the problem to the automated backup run daily by HSPComplete. So, they deactivated that and the crashing disappeared. Ok. No automated daily backup in exchange for stability. I'm fine with that. But for some reason, my sites on the VPS always hang after about 2 days. I always have to restart Apache to resolve the problem. So yeah, i had to restart Apache every 2 days to prevent the hanging. A bit troublesome but i could live with that.

Scalability:
SC: A. Everything runs smoothly. Extremely low load average.
FH: C. Not as scalable as SC. I first tried their 512MB VPS but they shut that down because I was using too much CPU resources according to them, which was weird because I was using a 512 MB VPS at SolarVPS before moving to them and it was running fine there. Nevertheless, I had to upgrade to their 1GB plan before everything is ok.

Network uptime:
SC: A+. No network downtime so far.
FH: A+. No network downtime so far.

Speed:
SC: A. Sites run blazingly fast on SC. Thumbs up.
FH: B+. Sites was running at reasonably fast speed. Not as fast as SC though.

Value for money:
SC: A+: Extremely value for money. I'm paying 1/4 of what i used to pay for FH (although FH had double the ram. However, if you compare SC with FH 512MB offerings, SC is still about half the price). For the performance you're getting, it's really amazing.
FH: B-: Ok for what you're expecting from a managed VPS provider.

Support:
SC: A++++++++++++. Fantastic service from Daniel and Michelle. Really proactive support. Very fast replies. Good responses. You really feel like they are dedicated to resolving your problem. Thumbs up.
FH: B. Fast replies. but i always have the nagging feeling that i'm talking to someone in India who is very distant from my VPS and hence the problem resolution will not be as prompt. Nevertheless, problem resolution was usually prompt. Their support are better than most other VPS providers out there but still, ServerComplete's support is amazing.

Anyway, the above is my review. Hope this can help those who are having a hard time choosing a VPS provider. You can't go wrong with ServerComplete.

P.S. I was actually searching for a Xen-based VPS because of the problem i had with my 512 MB virtuozzo-based VPS from FH. But in the end, i took a chance by trying out SC's virtuozzo-based VPS since i had no problem with SolarVps's virtuozzo VPS and so far, everything's running very smoothly.

For those who are wondering why I moved from SolarVPS, well it was because there were all these raves about the Softlayer network and so I wanted to try a VPS provider on that network. Not a good reason to move, on hindsight.

Just would like to let you know i've just purchased a VPS with ServerComplete and couldnt have gone smoother, a little delay with the setup but still done well within the 24hrs but the amount of updates and support i have gotten has been outstanding..

i went out last night so i wasnt too fussed about getting it done there and then but when i woke up this morning checked my emails to find 8 emails there waiting just giving me updates of what was happening and things.. which is very good i'd rather hear loads than nothing at all

and their support is awesome too they have gone over and above the call of duty for me really, usually just me being stupid but they have been great in sorting out my problems quickly and effeciently, so i'd recommend them to anyone!
