Send Mail Error Impeding Our Site Launch
Mar 5, 2008
So yesterday my team completed our website. Everything uploaded perfectly and works without a hitch except send mail.
When someone registers on our forum or registers on the main site they are send an e-mail validation, standard procedure. However the e-mails do not get through!
It looks like every email provider is filtering out some part of the email. I don't know whether it's the domain, ip, subject/message contents. Please take a look for yourself. We are using an offshore server in the Netherlands. The only email provider that would even accept our e-mails so far has been Gmail and Gmail automatically thought it was spam.
We have tried our scripts on a US host (1and1.com) and they e-mail to any email provider no problem. So I don't know for sure what's going on. Unfortunately I am about to get rid of 1and1 so I can't use them permanently.
Here are the contents of our failed email: ...

We're in the midst of re-developing our website, and have become concerned that the servers and CMS we have put together may not be able to cope with the traffic we get.
Our current site doesn't get an enormous amount of traffic but in using the in-development site it seems to be a little slower than we'd like.
I have put together an RFP to solicit help in performance testing, and before I post it on the sitepoint marketplace I thought I'd see what people here thought about this sort of testing. If you have any experience with it and advice I'd love to hear about it.

I am writing a financial statement for my business plan and like to know what numbers should I expect from the the host. If the potential traffic will reach 405,000 visitors a month what my requirements for the hosting company should be?

I have given up Yahoo and Hotmail always block all of my emails even after I request IP blacklist removal:
It looks like Yahoo and M$ allow their corporate buddies to send and receive emails and block everyone else. My server only sends out automated emails informing the users that they have registered or received a new post notification. However Yahoo and Hotmail still block all of my emails. In WHM I see that I have a newsletter sent out to 5000 members that is stuck in the mail queue for over 24 hours. Is there a third party site where I can easily paste those emails and send a message and they will go through?

I will be launching a new LAMP Web App that is a social network. At this point we have been testing on a Dreamhost shared hosting plan. However, we will be launching soon and I don't expect massive adoption I expect it to be slow and steady. 5-20 new signups a day.
I want to ensure that even my first users experience a fast site, and I am wondering If I moved to a 256 or 512ram VPS will they notice a speed difference even with no real load?
I am bootstrapping so money is tight and if I can hold off a few months I would do that if there would be no perceivable performance difference.
Does anyone have any stories of moving from shared to vps before launching and noticing major page load time reductions?

In webmail, when a person trys to send an email they get this error:
Message not sent. Server replied: Requested action aborted: error in processing
451 Temporary local problem - please try later
We have tried all the mail processing apps on Webmail (horde/squirrel/roundcube) and all of them seem to do the same thing. We have restart exim and that doesn't do anything either.
I tried searching Google, but I didn't find too much luck there.
