I know the new page has been around for quite a while but It's really cool and easy on the Eyes, the color combination is just Right In my Opinion.

The'v changed their homepage design and this time I personally think that the old design was a bit better than the new one,This one might work In terms of performance but I personally think that the new design might not work out pretty well.
View 14 Replies View RelatedAs many of you may know mod_cache does not cache directory index
files, this can be fixed with mod_rewrite but the index page of the domain (the homepage) seems to be impossible to cache it. The following rules cache the folders but not the homedir (this means that www.thedomain.com/folder is cached but www.thedomain.com is not):
DirectorySlash Off
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ([^.*])
RewriteCond "%{DOCUMENT_ROOT}%{REQUEST_URI}/index.htm" -f
RewriteRule "^(.*)$" "$1/index.htm" [NC,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^([^.*])$
RewriteCond "%{DOCUMENT_ROOT}%{REQUEST_URI}/index.html" -f
RewriteRule "^(.*)$" "$1/index.html" [NC,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^([^.*])$
RewriteCond "%{DOCUMENT_ROOT}%{REQUEST_URI}/index.php" -f
RewriteRule "^(.*)$" "$1/index.php" [NC,L]
Note that DirectorySlash should be off (or mod_dir not loaded) in
order to work also with URL that end with no slash
As I said before this will work for any folder but it does not work for public homedir
directory. So when a user visit [url] it does not
work (unless you type the name of the index file: [url]
For me it is critical to make this work in someway, the index homepage
is the main page that needs to be cached in my case (and in many
others).
Do you know any solution for this? I found the first message about
this in the Internet in 2002 but I'm using last version of apache
httpd and still does not work.
If you have no idea about how to fix it, maybe you know some other easy alternative. Lighttpd + mod_cache + mod_deflate are not compatible: "mod_cache can be used in conjunction with other lighttpd plugins (except mod_deflate and mod_secdownload)"

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a VPS with XenSmart, and I'm running CentOS. Recently, I have been needing to redirect my users to 'www.', since if they don't put the 'www.' in front of the domain the vB forum doesn't run properly. Though, to do this, I edited the .htaccess file and was using the 'mod_rewrite' command, but this requires Apache.
So, on my VPS I've installed Apache, and set LXAdmin to use 'httpd' instead of 'lighttpd', though now my web pages wont show up and all I've got is the default Apache web page:

setting up a preview server.
We have a number of clients and develop our work on a local preview box running IIS and XAMPP.
We need to setup a preview server with CVS and client preview areas i.e. a directory for each client locked down for them to view.
I've recently opened an account at a shared webhosting, cPanel managed. I've assigned it the main domain name I plan to use, but currently that domain points to another webhosting.
Before I proceed with the change of nameservers and make the definitive switch from the old to the new host, is there any way I can privately preview my site (100% HTML) from the new host? I'd like to ensure it's working OK before making the jump.
I've tried to add an entry to my local HOSTS file assigning my domain to the new host IP, but I only get a default page from the new server.
I already have extension NAT manager and everything else working perfectly, but website preview not. How to fix this issue behind NAT?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI took a shared hosting account at Godaddy and point dns too. But when I try to setup the account it says
"We cannot locate this domain name's DNS record "
Domain name is not at Godaddy but I changed its DNS to godaddy, using their name servers
ns44.domaincontrol.com
ns43.domaincontrol.com
When I check the domains whois , it shows these new nameservers too.
Anyone know how to get this done?
I'm trying to view my sites using the "Quick Preview on a domain name in Plesk" setting. I notice that it modifies that domain's DNS records to include the IP with dashes, however when I attempt to preview any of the sites hosted, I get "server not found" from my browser. The URL is the correct syntax, but cannot seem to access the site.
I've tried turning DNS off and on for each hosted site, but this doesn't seem to make any difference.
I am new to this and it has been a long weeks of struggle just to get my website live on the internet. I can preview it but i can't Open what is the problem? It also not live on the internet. I waited over six days because i was thingking it was still in the process of propagation but nothing happened.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've always hosted on shared hosting but recently upgraded to a VPS and am running Plesk 12.0.18 (Update #33).
Previously I had a way of sending a client a link to the site before the DNS and domains propagated. Usually, this was in the structure of
http://IP-Address/webspacename.tld
With Plesk, I am trying to do the same. But when I hit the preview button beside a domain name / web space, I get a very long winded URL which partially works.
[URL] ....
I could probably live with that but all my CSS paths are broken, browsing any links brings up a 404 nginx error etc. It's not good.
Interestingly, I have a site on the same VPS which works beautifully as the domain propogation has kicked in. However, and here's the thing, the very site in this URL preview structure has the same issue ... broken CSS files.
Is this a problem with my VPS provider or a Plesk oddity? BTW I know I could setup a cheap temp domain or change my Mac hosts file but I think this is beside the point. Would I be better off switching to Cpanel or a different VPS provider?
Not sure what the problem is but I can't preview a new website using Quick Site Preview. I have configured Tools and Settings > Website Preview Settings > Quick Preview on a domain name in Plesk by selecting the server domain name, yet despite this when I go to a new domain I setup today and click preview I get a browser windows that says "Server Not Found".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on plesk right now and I uploaded all my website's files, I wanted to see if it worked so I pressed preview. It worked. Then I pressed "Open" and nothing showed up at all?

I've transferred at Joomla! site to my server with Plesk 11.09. I want to see if its all working allright before i change DNS to point to the new server.
I put in [URL] .... as preview link, but that only shows the Plesk default UI. When i add 'index.php' to the end I do get the site, but without formatting

How I can get my formatting to work?
Everytime I deleted an Ip set up by WHM, this one nameserver always comes back and deletes one that I already set up.
69.50.221.151 NS19.NSHOSTER.NET
No matter what I change it to, that NS19.NSHOSTER.net keeps overwriting an NS that i set. What's wrong? When i try to delete with WHM

Removing Nameserver Ip 69.50.221.151
Sorry, the nameserver ip 69.50.221.151 cannot be removing since it is still registered with an ICANN register.
I can only go through ssh.
My Linux box has a set IP address that never changes. However, I am switching my server from one collocation to another so in the process my IP address will be different.
The last time I switched my box, I had my ISP admin change the IP address within my linux box, but now that might not be an option.
So in linux, CentOS 4.1, how do I change the IP address on the box?
As much as I can remember, I had to change it in:
/etc/netstart
But I also remember there is another file that needs to be edited within the server to change the IP.
I have been with this hosting company for almost five years now and until today the service has been excellent. I am having massive ftp issues. I have 41 different domains that I run for a variety of projects. Needless to say I keep each website in a different folder. I just tried to switch one of my blogs from blogger to wordpress. Blogger won't let me have my domain back and keeps blocking it with a 404 error. But that is a separate issue. I tried using one of my extra domains and pointing it at my new blog folder. But it keeps bouncing back to my root directory. I contacted 1and1 and they reset the server, but now they are blaming me for the issue. I can access the blog through it's subdirectory but I can't post the blog there.
Anyways, I am not ready to move over all of my websites, but I do want to move my blog to a new host. I am mainly hoping that I can escape 1and1 and blogger in one move if I change the host of this one website. It's funny I have been happy for years and recommended them to friends, but now I am very disappointed. Can someone recomend a reliable host? I am looking for one with a cheap lowend package to start off. If I end up staying I will need a lot of bandwidth as I have a podcast that had a lot of traffic. Basically, there are so many companies that I just can't tell which ones are reliable. That's my main concern. Also I use SQL a lot. Thanks!
I'm setting up my dns records for a backup mailserver and setting up another ns record in case of server / datacentre problems.
My question is, do I need to specify the ip address of the external hostname and the external namserver in the local dns record?
e.g mail.mydomaim.com in A **.***.**.**
then add mail.outside-domain.com in A **.***.**.**.
I dont think its necessary but want to double check.
I'm changing my webhost after getting screwed around with countless downtimes and now their own site is completely down.
I'm looking for a new host, and had been looking at alot of review sites. After looking at a few of them, found that they were obviously fakes with almost 100% good reviews for some hosts, completely dissing some other hosts, and the complete opposite on some other sites.
Looking for recommendations for your own host, do state your site too so I can try out the response.
Criteria
excellent uptime
responsive support + live support chat
h-sphere preferred, but not a must have (I like having subdomains in directories at the same level as domains)
does not ridiculously overload their servers (well, who can tell?)
good site response time
budget at 10usd per month
allows many domains/sites, no need for super high bandwidth as I just host many small sites
PHP with .htaccess access + imagemagick/gd
I currently work for a small company that has a website hosted by a local hosting company. We have not been happy with them and are planning on switching hosts. Now I know that you are suppose to update your name servers for your domain name to point to your web host's name servers. Problem is I don't know how to get access to do this (all of this stuff was setup many years ago way before I got here).
Using whois I see our domain registrar is DomainBank.com but I have no account information to log in and change our name servers. How do I go about doing this? Is it possible our existing host did all of this originally and they have an account with DomainBank instead?
Hostingzoom Is changing!
we are Hostingzoom's customer from 2005! we had a payment due on a service and hostingzoom suspended all of our services! how come it's possible? to all users I want to let you know to take care about this changes .. hostingzoom was the best but it looks like that it's no more like before! maybe the company is sold!
Take Care About your accounts, have a daily backup of your accounts and do not trust to buy more from them! we lost lots of our clients "about 500", and we face critical problem with what they did to us for $80! and we had problem with our credit card issuer right now! ... HostingZoom is changing take care ..
I currently have my account with streamline.net (utter crap never use that company). I want to move 2 of my domains off this company and on to another one.
What is the process in doing this and as anyone any good recommendations for hosting companies to use?
I have IIS on my computer and I want to start using a php driven forum (SMF) on my web site. Before I upload the files I need to check the following settings are on:
the engine directive must be On.
the magic_quotes_sybase directive must be set to Off.
the session.save_path directive must be set to a valid directory, or empty.
the file_uploads directive must be On.
the upload_tmp_dir must be set to a valid directory, or empty.
I cant find anywhere within IIS where these directions maybe found. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have a domain registered with Dotster and my NameServers point to Verio who is my webhost. My MX Records at Verio point to Appriver who handles my email. I'd like to get Verio totally out of the picture and just host my site at Dotster and still keep the email at Appriver. However, I'm not quite sure the order in which to change the various settings.
Do I just change the Name Servers at Doster to point to Dotster instead of Verio and then use Dotster's DNS to point the MX Records to Appriver? Would I then disable the MX Records at Verio? What about propagation of these changes...would I lose email traffic?
Do I need to change the TTL? I'm really not sure about the order of the steps.
