IIS 5 - Cant Access Page From IE7 But Can Access From Firefox
I found a great little app called ID Shutdown Manager which bascially lets you do stuff like wake on LAN, Shutdown, Log Off etc.
The App also has a cgi script which you can call from a web server so you get a web interface to the program.
This is exactly my reason for getting the app as I just wanted to host a web page where I could login from the internet and wake on lan my media PC.
Ok so...
The app gives you all the iis or apache setup instructions and tells you to place the cgi script which is actually a .exe into the scripts folder and then enable basic authentication for it.
Done.
So if I navigate to <SERVER>/scripts/sdmancgi.exe its supposed to give me a user / pass prompt and then when login successful I see the app and can wake on lan etc.
ok I have got this to work
on the actual machine where server is running I can access it in IE7 by localhost etc.. and it works
However when I try to access from another PC in my lan by typing <SERVER>/scripts/sdmancgi.exe I get a nice little message saying the content cannot be displayed you may require to insall a program or something to display it.
If I try to access the page from firefox on same remote PC, it works!
I can also access page from outside my LAN, it works on my N95 browser.
Also I have had friends try it from firefox from the Internet and they say it works as well.
Forgot to mention I am running on port 8081 as I already have other servers running on 8080 and 80 (one is my router and the other server installed itself from setup.exe and I dont know what server its using)
I have also tried latest apache server as well as some other free one. Both have the same effect. Ok in firefox, not in IE.
One would think its a problem with the cgi file not compatible with IE7 however, I even tried to go to default page setup in IIS <SERVER>:8081 and I get the same message. So at this point the server hasnt even tried to access CGI or prompt for Basic Authentication.
I tried googling and not much luck. I read something about CSS and when I view source of failed web page from IE7 it mentions something about CSS so dont know if this is it?

IIS : Disable HTTP Access

IIS Custom 500.100 Error Page
I have configured a custom 500.100 Error for one of my web sites in IIS 6.0. However, the custom error page appears nested within the HTML of the page throwing the error, at the point the error occurs. This is problematic as live errors are being overlooked when they appear late in the script as the majority of the page outputs normally. On my development server IIS 5.1 this does not happen. The Custom Error Page is shown as its own page. The errors cannot go unnoticed. How can I change IIS 6.0's Customer Error to behave like my development server, and do it just for the one web site concerned?

Why Wndows 2008 standard shows its IIS front page only I am using windows 2008 standard version 64 bits I am using an external DNS service and using none of Windows roles I disabled the firewall completely When I run IIS i can access to its front page from another machine but when I run jboss the browser can't get access to my web site front page! They both use port 80 Does ISS has some sorts of hidden privileges in Micorosoft which is not surprising I am about to revert back to Windows 2003 if I can't find a solution to this problem. Hello everyone, i would like to know if the forum has users from Europe and that they have dedicate server at Liquid Web. I have few dedicate servers at liquidweb and in past 12 months I have big problems with speed with these servers, and with speed to them. Speed download / upload sometimes does not exceed either 512 Kbps and sometimes download or upload from liquidweb server can be only 10 kB/s. Loading of some pages can take for 1 minute. I opened a ticket for this problem, but the Support feedback told me that this is quite normal for my distance which I consider totally unacceptable. It is acceptable that the ping must be large, but low speed is simply unimaginable.

I am working on one of client issue where client is facing problem accessing cgi-bin directory. I checked and found that cgi facility was not enabled in cPanel. I added that entry but it does not worked. Again, I checked httpd.conf file and added ScriptAlias entry for domain. Restarted apache, however, cgi-bin is still not accessible. my question. We host around 40 websites that have hundreds of pictures. I have 60gigs dedicated to pictures alone. since we are getting more clients I want to get a bigger hard drive just for the pictures. Since my boss is obssesed with user access times, as in users accessing the pictures on the web on their end, he thinks getting a bigger hard drive will slow down the server and hence slow down access time serving out the pictures to end users. I guess what I'm saying is does a bigger hard drive slow down a website? Let me know if you need clarification I wasn't sure how to word this.

No Access On Some Domains
Suddenly out of the blue, for no apparent reason at all (no action or config changes on my part) I cannot access two of the few domains on my box, yet they work fine via proxy. I can access another domain of mine on the same box without the need for proxy. This is strange and just happened out of the blue. Using cpanel / centos 4.6 / apache 2 / php 5.2.5 Apache error logs give no indication. Firewall (CSF) is not blocking me on the server. This is really weird. I cannot even receive via pop3 but I can send.

Can't Access One Of My IP Address
I was given 8 IPs by a provider but one of the IPs is unreachable. The provider said that it could be a server or firewall misconfiguration on my part but the only thing that I installed is csf firewall and all the required ports are open. Cannot Access Server
I have a little problem with either my server or my connection. For some darn reason I will be doing FTP uploads on small PHP files or viewing the forums on the server and then everything will start timing out. Yesterday this happened I would be able to get on the server from time to time for short amounts of time. After about 3 hours is went back to normal. Cannot Access Websites
I think I broke my server. I was trying to install Zend Optimizer, but it didn't work. After doing some research, I found out that I needed to disable selinux. After doing so, I rebooted. Then I installed Zend Optimizer and rebooted again. Since then, all my websites have been inaccessible. I can access my server through Plesk control panel, but connection to my websites just timeout. What can I do to fix this? Edit : I can access my sites via FTP as well. I am about to start a site to allow users to log into a password protected area and then, based on each individual user, they will be given access to a .pdf file which contains pricing and rate information that is specific to the particular user. Blocking Access To A Directory

Access Blocked To My Site
It appears that I may have my access blocked from my home network to my web site. I was attempting to set up a POP email account the other night on the server. Since then, I have not been able to access my domain name through ANY of my browsers. Also, I cannot log-in via FTP. I also tried from my iPod touch on my wireless network at home, no access. Server Access Denied
I have a strange problem that I encounter sometimes. I have 3 websites on my hosting account. About once a week, I will try to access one of those sites and I will get a timeout or connection error in my browser. I will not have any problem viewing any other websites and as soon as I restart my computer, I can view my sites again. It seems like either my computer, wifi router, isp or webhost decides to block me from accessing any of my 3 sites for no apparent reason. Restarting my computer fixs this. My ip does not change when I restart my computer so I do not know why it would suddenly allow me acces again but it does. What is this problem likley to be? A bug on my computer, a bug on my server? My isp being retarded? No one else seems to have any problems accessing my site, I would guess it is a local issue. What I can not figure out though, is why it only happens to my own websites on my hosting account. This never happens when trying to view any other websites except my own(on my hosting account). This cannot be a coincidence. It is a big mystery to me.

I am planning on getting a Web-Hosting account next week for a website I am building. Some questions related to this... 1.) I believe that if you edit the .htaccess file in Apache, you can create a Log-In page of sorts to prevent people from going beyond your domain/IP address without logging in. But can I do that with a web-host like GoDaddy on a shared account? 2.) Is there a way to restrict visitors to a certain folder? Lets say I want a "MyDevDirectory" just for me, but a "TesterDirectory" for people on SitePoint who are nice enough to look at my code.
