Does anyone know how to install the Frontpage Server Extensions on an Apache server which is running on a Windows box? I've searched around including on Microsoft's site, but I was only able to find info on how to configure for Apache running on unix/linux.
View 0 RepliesI am trying to get a dedicated server from unmeteredservers.com. My website was designed with FrontPage in htm mode. The technical team is asking whether I require FrontPage Extensions, and that if I do, then I cannot use their services because FrontPage extentions has been discontinued. My site has been working very well on many shared servers, I told them. They say I shoulsd find out from my frontpage whether it uses the extensions. I have no idea where I can get that information from in my Frontpage program. How do I get that kind of information?
Meanwhile, I do know that when I used FrontPage to upload my site, the Panels peovided an option to intall the extensions. But now that I upload with CuteFTP, no server has since requested for the extensions to be installed. Will my site work on the server if I simply upload via an FTP without any FrontPage extensions installed?
Since a recent server and control panel move (we switched from Enism X to CPanel 11 on CentOS 5), our accounts no longer work with any version of FrontPage prior to 2003. You can't even bring up the authentication window in FrontPage 2000, it spits out an error saying that there's a problem with WWW-Authenticate (or similar, don't have exact error as I dont own a copy of FP2000, but that's what a few clients are reporting).
Has anyone had any similar experiences and would you have any advice to give so that I may somehow fix this problem? I know FP has been EOL for some time now but it doesn't change that many of my customers still use it and expect their services to keep working on the new platform.
i have a customer who had a site in somwhere else.he used to upload his files via frontpage with the frontpage extensios way.in my server i have install frontpage extensios.the problem is that when he tries topublish the files whichs edits the changes in NOT going to the files which are in public_html folder but it is automated creating a new folder with the name domain.gr. AND THERE PUTS ALL THE FILES WHICH are changing.
what i must change so the changes to be in files in public_html and also stop creating folder with the name domain.gr.i hope you understand the frontpage extensios.i havent experienced before
I am preparing a server to do some hosting, but need the newest frontpage extensions. I noticed in Centos 4.5 running Cpanel it has this. Does anyone have access to the files needed to accomplish this as well as any config info?

As we have tried reinstalling FP extensions, and can't quite determine if this is a server related or Frontpage (software) related issue, I thought I'd try asking here..
The user is not able to log in using Frontpage. When trying to access www.site.com he gets an error message that "The folder www.site.com is not available. It may be at an unavailable location, password protected or the filename could contain / or ".
The error message occurs just after typing the URL into the URL box... he doesn't even get prompted for username or password.

my primary domain still works perfectly but the virtual host I created keeps loading 403 error page I have checked the Apache error log and I found two instanses of

I have found a hole in one of my servers that someone else pointed. Here is what I found. A fake image can get uploaded to the server like test.php.psd and the server will think it is an image file but in fact it is a PHP file. Then when the server access the file Apache does not recognize the file and automatically assumes that it is a PHP file and tries to execute it as a PHP file. If the file is not recognizable and can not open it as an image file then it should not automatically try to execute it as a PHP file. Am I wronging in assuming this? Here are two sample files.

I'm trying to compile PHP 5.2.1 on my Ubuntu 6.10 server. I've downloaded the source code from php.net and am running the following configure command on it:

After doing this, then make, I copy over the generated libphp5.so file into my Apache extensions directory, add extension=pdo.so (and lines for the PDO-MySQL/Informix extensions) into my php.ini and restart Apache. I would expect to see PDO, PDO-MySQL and PDO-Informix listed in my phpinfo() - but they don't appear.
So, I tried recompiling PHP but without any of the PDO extensions being shared. This worked, and I could see PDO and PDO-MySQL in phpinfo(), but not PDO-Informix.
So, can anyone hazard a guess as to why none of the PDO extensions load when compiled shared? I don't get any related error messages in the Apache or System logs by the way....
I'm trying to accomplish a rather common task of removing file extensions, where say, instead of index.php, just index can be accessed.
I've gone through many tutorials that offer all sorts of different ways how this can be accomplished and none of it works but what's commonly given is something like this.

I'm trying to setup a public VPN network where remote clients can access the VPN server and connect to the internet through the VPN server.
I have Users assigned to different groups, and need each group to obtain a Unique Public IP address.
For example:
User1Group1 > connect to RRAS > access the internet with Public IP x
User2Group1 > connect to RRAS at the same time > access internet IP x
User3Group1 > connect to RRAS at the same time > access internet IP x
User1Group2 > connect to RRAS at the same time > access internet IP y
User2Group2 > connect to RRAS at the same time > access internet IP y
User3Group2 > connect to RRAS at the same time > access internet IP y
The trouble I'm having is only the first login in a group able to gain the Public IP address while the other ones default to the RRAS IP address.
I've setup a remote access policy to each group, then assigned these groups specific internal IP for each one. Then in NAT/LAN reserved a public IP for each private IP.
But when multiple users login, the server allows them access and provide them with internal IPs that are not specified in the access policy.
(I actually find that like a bug, instead it should deny access if the IP is in use).
I only have One NIC and hence the DHCP server and DHCP relay did not work.

Im trying to setup FTP on Windows 2003 Standard. Multiple people will need access, the problem Im having is how do I make it to where certain ftp accounts only have access to certain folders and certain ftp accounts have access to the whole root directory of that folder?
For instance under websitefolder you have a folder called bobsfolder. I want bob to login and just be "jailed" to bobsfolder, but when websitefolderadmin logs in they have access to the root of websitefolder and all its subfolders.
How do I setup a VPS on my Server?
It is Windows Server 2003.
I want to be able to do some testing on a Windows Server. Instead of finding a domain and finding web space I figured I could just use one of my own PCs as a web server.
However, I've never done that before and have no idea what I would need.
Does anyone have a tutorial of what needs to be installed (OS, software, etc) in order to setup a Windows web server? Doesn't have to have any features other than supporting ASP. And I'd need to be able to access it from the internet via my ISP and a port.
I am a good systems administrator but I have never setup a windows web server. Are there any tutorials out on the web that would show me how to do it. Is it true when a dedicated server is purchased the only thing I have to do is transfer the htm or asp files?

(Apache Server)..My problem is, if you open the site in a browser with just the IP address alone it goes there for a second and then automaticlly goes to and opens the other site in location // ipaddress / location B.
However, what I need it to do, I think, is edit the apache conf file to make it open location A as the default. What do I need to do in the apache (httpd-conf) to fix that? For that matter is that the right file to edit?

I've just purchased a Windows Server 2008 VPS plan with a hosting provider. With that I have needed to open up several ports - 21 (FTP), 25 & 110 (Mail) on Windows Firewall.
My first question is about security on those ports. So far I've just opened them in Windows Firewall and that's it. Is there anything in particular I should consider to keep those ports secure?
I've also had to install a mail server. So far I've installed the standard version of MailEnable and have it running fine. The problem I see is that the standard version has no spam filtering and no virus checking.
So I did some more looking into all this and found SmarterMail, the free version. The thing that gives this potential comes straight off their site... "SmarterTools understand what it is like to be part of a growing company. Budgets are tight, and often money is not available for software expenses.". This is exatly where I'm at, a small business with no software budget, at least not for now.
After looking into it, it appears as though we would have to pay for spam/virus protection when using MailEnable, because this is for commercial use (Maybe there's some free spam/vrus software for MailEnasble I'm not aware of), but we would have that included with SmarterMail. As an added note, this VPS facility is for a single domain and I realise that SmarterMail only allows for 10 accounts, but we can live with that for now.
Does anyone have real world experince using MailEnable vs. SmarterMail in this kind of scenraio? If so, from experience, what do you think is the best option?

I recently setup Plesk 11.0.9, and I want to setup SimpleDNS into my plesk panel. I installed SimpleDNS 5.2 on the server, and I followed the instructions in this post --> [URL] ...., but when I refresh the components page in the panel, I never have the Simple DNS.I setup port 8053 in SimpleDNS' HTTP API, I accept any ip address, I remove the firewall and Plesk can not see it.

After some googling and reading, i able to install apache, mysqld and vsftpd (for some reason, my host (hivelocity) didnt install these. So this is my setup.

I have a fresh Ubuntu 14.04 install (desktop). I installed Apache, php and mysql from APT and updated everything.I tried to setup a virtual host using these directions: URL...I followed them to the letter:
o I created a folder /var/www/mydomain.local/public_html
o I copied the 000-default.conf in sites available and modified it
o I added mydomain.local to my hosts file (with IP of 127.0.0.1
o I used a2ensite to enable the host
o I used service apache2 reload
When I went to mydomain.local in firefox, it took me to the default host main page.I tried a restart of the service and even a reboot of the computer. No change.On a theory, I used a2dissite to remote 000-default from the enabled site list and reloaded the service. I got the home page for mydomain.local after that.
I created a named host called localhost and reloaded the apache. When I went to http://localhost it took me to the mydomain.local homepage. Rebooted the computer. Now, localhost gives me the apache default home page and mydomain.local does not work at all (I get a server not found).
I get the feeling that there is an apache configuration item I am missing but I cannot find it.
