We carried out a major clean up on our server but when i send out mail i get this message:
"This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

The mail server could not deliver mail to xxxxmydomain@aol.com. The account or domain may not exist, they may be blacklisted, or missing the proper dns entries."

I have a problem with hotmail that outgoing message not reached by hotmail only . all other mail is ok and spf recoed is pass . I'm receiving over 25 000 emails all the time... Someone from italy spamming emails, spam is not being sent from mine server but they are spoofing mine site as the sending domain so it looks like its comming from me, getting the bounce notices all the time... it also load my cpus more than a bit.

I'm trying to send mails to yahoo and hotmail from my vps and the result was the mail ended up in Spam folder in yahoo and didn't receive any mails in hotmail. When I check the Full MEssage Header in yahoo, the sender was "Sender: Nobody <nobody@host.mydomain.com>" Do I have to set to a name or something ? My rDNS and SPF was set up correctly, I think. domainkeys=neutral (no sig) Im using php mail() to send out the mails.

Server's Hostname/nameservers Affect Mail Delivery
our company is ordering a new dedicated server and we are a little unsure what we should choose as far as the full hostname and nameservers of this one server. This server will have a couple different websites on it, but really, there is only one BIG website on it... let's call it abcd.com. While most would pick a hostname of host.abcd.com for instance, if at all possible, we would like the domain name part of the hostname to be something different than abcd.com. We own a domain name that doesn't point to anything yet (unuseddomain.com) and we were wondering if we could use that domain in our hostname.. host.unuseddomain.com. And instead of using abcd.com as the domain name for our own nameservers (ie. ns1.abcd.com, ns2.abcd.com), we would like to again, use the unused domain name we own (unuseddomain.com) for the nameservers domain name: ns1.unuseddomain.com, ns2.unuseddomain.com. So... Will this work? Is this perfectly acceptable? And lastly... Since the one website we really care about on this server (the one we got the server for in the first place) is abcd.com, is using the unuseddomain.com for the hostname and nameservers (as above) a bad choice in anyway regarding email deliverability? I understand that mail ISP's (hotmail, yahoo, etc.) do all kinds of checks on hostnames (PTR), etc... and we want to make sure that we aren't hurting ourselves in anyway by using an "empty" domain name that we own as our hostname's and nameserver's domain name. For instance, if we send mail from the abcd.com account, it will use mail.abcd.com (1.1.1.1) as it's outgoing mail server... Hotmail will see this... do a reverse-dns lookup on 1.1.1.1 and see host.unuseddomain.com. See what I'm saying? It all will work, but will it toss up red flags?

What software would you recommend for e-mail server? Must: SMTP, POP3, SSL Optional: IMAP I'm on a dedicated server without any control panel so I can install absolutely anything, but I want to choose a stable software. Resources are not the issue but if possible I'd like a software with a small footprint. I have a test machine setup so I can test it before installing it onto the production machine, but there are many e-mail servers [url] and I'd like to narrow down the selection to few of them, test them and then choose on my own.

Mail Queue Loaded With "can't Deliver Your Message"
any hints for EXIM reject E-mail trying to be sent to an non-existent account on a domain hosted by me? I think the default configuration is to accept the E-mails and try to deliver, then it will fail and an E-mail will be sent to the sender but many times the sender is fake (spammer) and this message will rest on queue for some days... I was thinking on some filter like "if ((!exist account@domain) && (!catchall domain)) reject" but I don't know how to set something like that on EXIM

How To Change IP Couior Sends Its Mail Out Under
My host gave refuge to a ROKSO spammer and got the C-block listed in SpamHaus and cant get it removed. So they mapped a new, clean IP to my server and I need to change the IP that my MTA is sending out under. Change Default Sender Address Using Php Mail() / Sendmail
I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with this, or if it's something easy that I'm overlooking. I am on a VPS service (CentOS Linux) and I want my php mail function emails to send from a specified address. I've already manipulated the headers, so the emails do appear to come from the specified addres, but on mobile devices it comes up as nobody@server1.mydomain.com format. I would like this to read something like no-reply@mydomain.com know which configuration files can change this default address?

Change From "nobody" Mail User
When a newsletter tool or really any PHP script sends mail from a domain account it says it is from 'nobody@domain.com' on behalf of the sender. if we send from the kensingt account it says it is from 'actualuser@server.domain.com' on behalf od sender. I would like to change this so it says it is from 'no-reply@server.domain.com' on behalf of sender and I have looked through the whm and cpanel settings and cannot find a place to do this.

Mystery Folders Being Created
I am designing a site for a client and in all the years I've done design etc, I've come up against a phenomenon with their VPS server they have. It's linux and uploading files I am using WS_FTP Home. I am uploading files and folders to their public_html/domain.com/ (*I use domain here for their privacy) and in some folders (directories) after doing so, a mystery folder suddenly appears that is named 5" and as you enter that folder, you see the path directory show up "public_html" and if you go into that one, you come up to the domain.com folder again, and if you deeper into that one you start to see this phenomenon of mirroring folders of the one you go into. Example: public_html/domain.com/images/5"/public_html/domain.com/images/file ***the file whether it's an image jpg, png, etc is created as the last directory as a folder, not a file. I should also mention that as you go deeper in the 5" mystery directory folder, you no longer see the path in the FTP anything past the 5" one even as you go further in. Oh, and it doesn't allow you to delete these 5" folders regardless of what permissions. And this folder seems to show up in many areas of this website's directory structure...mostly where images are (don't know if that is just a coincidence). So hope all this makes sense....anyone seen this before and what the cause could be? Their host doesn't seem to know the reason and says they cannot see it even though others can. They said it's the FTP program as the cause and not their server. My comeback to that is that I've used this FTP for years and never before seen this happen. It's only with this one client's server.

Found Email Address I Never Created
This is twice I have found email addresses on the web that I have never created. Both domain names are the new extensions and I purchased them the first day they become public. .biz the other is .US One of the domains I never even created a web page until yesterday. And today I find a German site using my domain as an email address. One note on this, this domain name is extremely unique and related to certain German ideas or thoughts. I am thinking someone at the server created them and used them for their personal use. Is this possible? Not only that, but I have sent email to these addresses and there was no bounce back. No bounce back meaning these are valid email addresses?

Sessions Created With No Permissions Set
I'm in the process of configuring my company's new server and I've hit a slight stumbling block. What's happening is that PHP is creating its sessions like normal with the exception of no permissions being set for them. This then means that errors are thrown up when PHP attempts to open the session files. Can anybody tell me why this is happening? I have set the sessions directory to octal 0777 for the time being. The server is running Linux redhat.

Permissions For CPanel Accounts Created With WHM
I recently got a dedicated server (CentOS with WHM and cPanel) and I am a newbie when it comes to server admin. I had a hard time with the proper configuration so that Fantastico would work (it took their admin a week to figure out their own installation). In any case now I can use Fantastico to install scripts and the one I use the most is Joomla. There is a major problem though. So I create a new account in WHM (with root access or not), go to domain.com/cpanel, go to Fantastico and install Joomla. Then if I access files or folders through FTP using CoreFTP I can't change permissions (most of files or folders) and I can't edit files. (that's the case even for the accounts with root access). I can perform those actions if I log into WHM with my main root account and change what I need using a module called Configserver Explorer that shows all the files on the server (without that module I would be lost - I don't know all those shell commands) So can anyone help me with some proper configuration tips so that if I create user accounts (other then myself) they would have those permissions to edit or change stuff in their account? I come from shared hosting and never had these problems. They were allowing add-on domains and I could copy entire sites to other domain names with one click. Now WHM says it's not a good idea to allow add-on domains. No idea why. Any advise one that?

Copy Newly Created Folders In /tmp
We've had someone starting nobody PERL procs on a box and we can't quite track it down or read the file to see what it is. What he does is to create a folder in /tmp, execute the script from there and delete the folder as soon as it's running (yes, /tmp is mounted noexec, makes no difference). We've managed to discover and block the IP that was doing this, but that's no fix. He hasn't been back since banning the IP...so far. What we would like to do is see if anyone knows of (or can help create) a script that can watch the /tmp folder and copy newly created directories and thier contents to another dir (also notifying via email would be helpful) in order to see what the heck it's doing, and hopefully be able to figure out how it's getting in. Nothing in any logs this time, and the PERL process seems to be able to hide itself from PS. That bit worries me quite a lot, but none of the binaries appear to have been changed, and it doesn't appear we've been rooted in any way. Thoughts on this, ideas and suggestions welcome. Failing that, is it possible without breaking the box to prevent the creation of new directories in /tmp? This I seriously doubt, but if all they need to do is create a folder and work from there, noexec is a joke.

Specially created *.php file which will be loaded at the server, can give full access to hacker and finally to walk away it from you! Maybe dissolving a partnership or renaming their company... so a new domain name has been registered and a new website created. 2 Issues: #1 Using .htaccess 301 redirect We used the following command line in their old website's htaccess file Redirect 301 / [url] The goal was to get people try to visit any page of their old website (i.e. OldWebsite.com/contact.html) redirected to their new website (i.e. NewWebsite.com/contact.html). Isn't that supposed to change the address bar's URL, too? For some reason, I visit their old site and I seem to be redirected to their new website but the address bar still has their old domain name? Something is going on??? #2 Having their new company name for 2 years now. People can enter her new company name in Google, MSN or Yahoo. Her new company name appears in the search results but has the old domain name associated with it. We are trying to get rid of any reference to that old domain name? Burstnet And Server Delivery
We use them because we can offer good value for money to customers, yes you get what you pay for but they cant even deliver within their own estimates. I contacted them on the 5th after 24 hours of waiting and a customer on my back, just enquiring where the server was. I received the following reply from Shawn A: I would expect delivery on this tomorrow afternoon... We are closing this ticket out at this time. If the issue is still not corrected, or you require further assistance with this matter, please re-open this ticket, and we will gladly assist you... Fine, i will wait another 24 hours. Nothing! It is now the 7th, the customer has decided to cancel the order and they have still not done ANYTHING. I have sent them another reply to the ticket: I had a customer cancel this server because it has take you so long What is going on wthat it takes you ages to set up a server that is probably sitting in a rack somewhere? Please dont take an age to reply and please let me know a setup time so i can at least offer another customer and instant server and not 36 hours to whenever-burstnet-gets-its-***-in-gear I am still awaiting a reply.. although its useless now. I know its already known on this forum but Caveat emptor!

i'm facing with spambox. i'm running whm 11.2 on centos. It used to work fine but after my step up to whm/cpanel 11 it hasn't been working. emails go right through to the mailboxes. i've enabled spambox, enabled it for the domain, tried updating to latest cpanel/whm, rebuilt exim. nothing works.

CDN With Secure File Delivery
Does anyone know of a CDN that can provide secure file delivery for 100+ people? I'm looking for something that will allow me to send product download links to customers and have them only download the files once each. They mustn't be able to view or distribute the actual file location for their friends to download. I'm looking for a pay as you go service with no sign up fee. I know simpleCDN offers pay as you go, at a rate of $0.09 per GB with no sign up fee, but they only seem to offer http and https delivery at present, which is half way there, but it lacks the secure delivery. I know Edgecast offers a 'secure token' system that allows download links to be sent out that can only be used once. However, they have a whopping $550 sign up fee, and then a whopping $550 per TB transferred. This has the secure delivery, but lacks the pricing my company can afford. Does anyone know of any more CDNs that have this secure download link function? The 'secure token' functionality of Edgecast is a good idea, but even a CDN that just allows you the standard function of creating multiple FTP accounts with different permissions will do to trick.

Automatically Update AWStats?

Why Does XINETD Keep Automatically Shutting Down
I use rfxnetworks.com/sim.php on my cpanel server and it all worked fine until the last week where each morning 6am GMT I get a status warning telling me that XINET was down and that it had to restart it. Has something changed? Is there now something weird about XINETD and cpanel? My cpanel is stable and set to automatically update.
