Webmail E-mail Block

Dec 23, 2007

I've been onto my hosting company numerous times and they keep asking me to contact them when this problem happens again, it's a vicious circle as when it does they ask me to wait for it to "happen again".

Cpanel X comes with my hosting account, obviously the standard webmail programs, which I actually don't use but in this case they serve as a solution. I've set up two e-mail addresses according to my domain name, I receive the e-mail through Mozilla Thunderbird which have all the correct POP3 settings etc etc.

Around 10-20 times a month, all of a sudden I will stop receiving my e-mail, Thunderbird will refuse to download the inbox and sometimes returns a timeout error.

I log into the account via the webmail software "horde" to find all my mails stacked up and that some of them do not have a KB measurement. Please see the below screenshot

[url]

If I "delete" these e-mails without the KB measurement my mail box will then be downloaded by Thunderbird.

I'm completely stumbled as to why this happens. It doesn't seem to be any particular e-mails which arrive like this to the box, sometimes they can be junk but other times business e-mails which have been downloaded perfectly fine before.

I've deleted and setup the e-mail accounts several times from Cpanel. Triple checked all my mail client settings and nothing jumps out at me.

Web Host Block Php Mail... Alternatives?

Feb 14, 2009

I send out almost 50 emails a day from a PHP program on my web site.

My web host wrote an email complaining to me.

Should I:

a) take their advice (and if so, do I need an SMTP server and how do I get one set up?)

b) change web hosts?

Here is the email from them:

Hi there,

Thank you for contacting us.

Please note that the script is being abused via a web browser to send out
mail. Please refrain to use the PHP mail() function as it is deprecated and
vulnerable to abuse.

We could possibly suggest that you take a look at using SwiftMailer which is well
documented and supported.

We have commented out all of the mail() function calls on your site.

How To Block All Exim Incoming Mail

Feb 24, 2008

problem with incoming spam to my server. Causing high load that eventually take down the server.

Since I don't use the server for my mail (I use Gmail), can anyone let me know the easiest way to stop/block all incoming mails to the server? I still need outgoing mail, though. Some of my PHP forms need it.

Right now, I stopped Exim to save the server (if it runs, load can get to 900+).

Plesk 11.x / Linux :: How To Block Mail From Specific Address

May 19, 2014

I'm trying to use spamfilter to block mail from specific address, adding this e-mail to spamfilter in mail account settings, but it doesn't work. In logs I see:

spamc[13430]: skipped message, greater than max message size (256000 bytes).
