Fliehe & Schwab [split]
May 8, 2009
For our community of it professionals, we have been using the package mentioned in the openingspost for several months now. We have been very happy with the connectivity of Fliehe & Schwab, and the price they provide. For instance connection to the USA and many places around europe has proven to be fantastic.
Response is often personal and very professional, they have an anwser ready to all your questions within a very short time (think minutes!).
I have recommended an acquintance to them, and he shares the opinion. If you are looking for a decent vps provider in europe, look no further.

I too had a very bad experience with this hosting too!
The host is not stable at all! I scheduled an hourly cron job there and it executed a couple of times and then totally stopped! I set up the cron job to make my life easier, not to give me more burden.

Does anyone know of companies that offer split-shared hosting?
I came across this concept from viewing a post titled 'crucial hosting'. They are a company that offers this.
Apparently they split a server into logical sections and the user operate within this section. They gave a write-up on their advantages here

But one thing they do is to allow adult sites.
Hence my question #1: will adult sites result in overusage of resources in such types of 'split' environment?
And question #2: are there other companies that offer 'split' environment (i searched in google, yahoo and msn but could not find any)
And question #3: the cost is quite close to a low-end VPS. Won't it be more effective to go for a VPS instead since in addition to reduced number of users, there is also guaranteed ram?

Would it be possible to split website components transparently across 2 servers and make it look like a single site? For example: run a forum on ServerA and a wiki on ServerB, but with the same base URL? Doing this will allow me to buy smaller servers instead of a single huge server.

I'm running a backup of a subscription and I checked "Create a multivolume backup" and set the "volume size" to 1024. Once the backup is complete the backup still shows as 1 volume, not broken up into 1 GB pieces.
I'm running Plesk 12.0.18 Update #27 (latest)

I am interested in the options to split a dedicated server so one might offer a selection of VPS containers and also a selection of cPanel packages.
Is there a free package that I can install on a Linux box to allocate resources for VPS alongside a cpanel/whm installation or would cpanel have to be installed on one of the vps containers?
What sort of response might I get if I split a box like this or should I have 2 seperate servers one with cpanel/whm and the other with a VPS splitting solution...

What would you classify this as? Seems like it's the in-between for VPS and dedicated with completely reserved resources and much higher storage capacities than VPS can offer.
Personally, if it runs a hypervisor or container is a VPS but this sure does blur the lines a bit.
