Database Collation

Sep 15, 2007

For some reason i cant read anything written in Russian language in my database thru Phpmyadmin.

I guess it has something to do with connection/database collation char sets but which one exactly ?

My current Phpmyadmin char sets are

character set client utf8
(Global value) latin1
character set connection utf8
(Global value) latin1
character set database latin1
character set filesystem binary
character set results utf8
(Global value) latin1
character set server latin1
character set system utf8
character sets dir /usr/local/mysql-5.0.x-freebsd6.x-i386/share/mysql/charsets/
collation connection utf8_unicode_ci
(Global value) latin1_swedish_ci
collation database latin1_swedish_ci
collation server latin1_swedish_ci

Mysql Character Set / Collation (Cpanel)

Jun 7, 2008

dedicated server with FreeBSD + Cpanel.

After the installation, one problem is that Mysql doesn't have some international character sets /collation included such as Big5, gbk, ujis which are mostly for Asian language. Is this normal for Cpanel installation? I got a response from Cpanel stating this is a default setting for Mysql. Because we have lots Asian customers, it there any way can include new international character set /collation without reinstalling Cpanel?

Plesk 11.x / Windows :: Regional Settings And MSSQL Collation

Apr 28, 2014

We received the following request from customer in order for his website to function properly:

Go to the control panel of your Windows Server change Regional Settings so that the default language iS Greek.

Also, change the collation of Microsoft SQL Server to Greek-Accent Insensitive-Case Insensitive.

Will these create any problems to the rest of the websites that are hosted on the server? And if no, how to change the collation of the Microsoft SQL Server?

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Unknown Database Atmail When Selecting Database

Nov 20, 2014

When I update servers via CLI autoinstaller, I always (afair) get this mysqldump error message:

Code:

Stopping psa... * Stopping Plesk engine pool manager sw-engine-fpm
...done.
done
-- Warning: Skipping the data of table mysql.event. Specify the --events option explicitly.

mysqldump: Got error: 1049: Unknown database 'atmail' when selecting the database

===> Cumulative APS controller database (apsc) upgrade has been started.
===> Cumulative upgrade of APS controller database has been completed.
===> Cumulative Plesk database upgrade (revertable stage) has been started.
===> Preparing Plesk database upgrade (revertable stage).
===> Cumulative upgrade of Plesk database (revertable stage) has been completed.
Reading package lists...

There is no database "atmail" on any of our Plesk servers. Simple solution should be to first check if the DB exists before performing actions on it.As a bonus, perhaps it would be possible to suppress the warning about mysql.event.

Apache :: Database Error On All Non-database Webpages

Mar 15, 2013

I've just built a new LAMP server and I'm having a little issue where Apache doesn't serve a simple non-database webpage, instead, I get an error on all my virtual-host in the browser: Database Error: Unable to connect to the Database: Could not connect to MySQL.

I've googled the problem but since the error mentions MySql, everything I find is related to connecting to MySql, which I'm not trying to connect... and I've contacted my Linux mentor about this issue... This is something I've never seen before... don't know why Apache thinks I'm trying connect to MySQL on every browser call to the server...

However, MySQL is accessible via telnet, and all my permissions are correct...
