DNS Resolvers
Feb 11, 2009
I am in the WHM setup for my newly purchased VPS. It says I need a Primary Resolver & Secondary resolver.
The ip 74.63.208.3 is already entered as Primary Resolver and 74.63.208.11 that ip is entered as the Secondary Resolver.
My VPS ip is 216.245.215.108.
What should be my primary and secondary resolver?

Some questions about resolvers.
1. Are resolvers queried in the order they appear in WHM -> Networking Setup -> Resolver Configuration page (/etc/resolv.conf file)? Or are they queried randomly like nameservers for a domain?
2. When in SSH and issuing the command "ping www.example.com", is there a logfile to see which resolver was used when executing the command?
3. When sending an email, are resolvers used only for destination domains on remote servers and not for domains on the localhost?
